 Gisborne GP
This C2HC event in N ew Zealand goes into it's fifth edition and it surely has found it's place in the MG calendar. With a total length of 226km, 28km of climbing (2768 height metres) and slopes up to 13%, the Gisborne GP is a tough hilly classic with a mountainous touch.
Some big names won the race in the first four editions: Francesco Ginanni (2013), Cyril Gautier (2014), Maxime Monfort (2015) and Tomohiro Kinoshita (2016) make for an illostrous honour roll and held as a C2HC this year, there is definitely some fame to be gained this year. Monfort as the only former race winner, who will have another shot at the victory this time.

Last year's 3rd Damiano Cunego (now riding for Repsol) and last year's 6th Robin van der Hugenhaben (In-n-Out) will certainly aim for another shot at the win here. Obviously, it's van der Hugenhaben, who needs to be considered a top-favorite here. His combination of climbing mountains and hills looks hand-made for this event and even though he's lacking the acceleration, the veteran will fancy his chances to shine here in New Zealand.
It's also a special race for Xero, for obvious reasons: the local's favorite team will line up with a strong squad, led by Anthony Roux and local hero George Bennett (supported by Diggle as well). Both Roux and Bennett should be amongst the favorites. Roux as one of the best puncheurs with a great stamina and Bennett as one of the best climbers amongst those, who can ride the hills pretty well and who just took a stage-win in the recently held Giro del Trentino. A thrilling duo and a thrilling race for Xero's manager.
A packed startlist it is though: Chaves/Squire, Boily, Cataldo, Bratashcuk and former race-winner Monfort come with a nice allround package and should be real threats here. The same goes for pure puncheurs like Grippo, Pellaud or maybe Vichot (stamina). The already mentioned Cunego or some other great climbers like Cataldo, Tvetcov or Khripta look promising as well. It's surely a startlist worth a C2HC event and we're looking forward to an interesting race tomorrow.

Hell no. Monfort is gonna win again! 
Looking forward to tomorrow, we definitely need to redeem ourselves after a very diappointing Geraardsbergen-Bosberg performance.
vdH very likely to win here, as his low ACC stat shouldn't be too much of a problem with these hills. Thanks for the preview tsmoha  |

This was a pretty cool race last season. Hope to see similar this year again.
Likely with Hugenhaben or Roux being the winners I`d say. |

Would be great to see Xero winning. With Bennett and Roux they have two prime options and it would surprise me if they don't get at least a podium. But vdH is the man to beat. His ACC might hurt once again but especially if MO will have some impact on his performances he looks strong for this. Chavez is another contender to watch out for and Khripta and De Marchi is a nice outsider duo that could be good for an upset.

We've sent everything we got to this race for the hilly terrain. It's time to see Azteca's big boys get things done, not sure how long Eastman/Chaves want to live with Gavin Mannion being the top point scorer on the team.

A top10 is the goal, but something more will be nice after a not so good February.
Xero for the win i think. They have several options, and are way stronger than anyone else. They are also in home soil and have a win goal, so everything on his favour

Given that our punchers aren't even featured in the preview, is a strong indication of how low our expectations should be in this race. Still, we were pleasantly surprised in San Cristobal and will hope that something similar can be achieved here. Do watch out for Bardet though

Hoping Vichot can play the 'spoiler' role, though he's not exactly a genuine underdog. Xero and In-n-Out look to be the strongest here. Looking at previous winners, the mountain stat hasn't come into play heavily so I'm hopeful that stamina and acceleration (and fighting) will take Vichot to a decent finish.

Our biggest race of the season on paper. Home race, win goal, brought the A-Team. Long so hoping Roux can use that STA in a final two-up sprint or similar for the win. Only thing holding us back is the MON/HIL ratio if it's too high would definitely give the other three big names the advantage. Thanks to all those supporting us

RvdH is the logical favourite but Chaves and Squire look like a very dangerous duo, and with the right strategy Roux also has a realistic chance to win.
Anyway it's a very open race, many puncheurs in. I'm excited to see how Passalacqua will deal with similar riders (although i don't expect much), but February has been a very bad month so far and this is our last race so imma pray for a miracle.

We should do quite well here. It’ll be interesting to see if Khripata can do the business in the one-dayers.

Not as selective as last year but still the strongest team/rider won. Big one for Xero in their home race. Even bigger with their home rider.
Brilliant win by Bennett. Couldn`t have been a better one here. |

After failures by Bennet, it's brilliant to see him finally do it for Xero and on the home terrain now less, plus having Roux in 4th! Really, excellent, plus best PCM hilly AI in a while, even if it was reasonably passive.

Very disappointing race for us. Gilbert only in 14th and Agostini in 22th barely gives us a few points.
