Hi all
We all enjoy playing the Velogames fantasy cycling tournaments. I thought it would be a good idea to try and get a year long competition going to award an overall 2016 champion.
The format is simple. Simply enter the PCMDaily leagues set up for each of the games throughout the year. At the end of each game the top 25 teams will be awarded points from 25 to 1. Double points will be awarded for the 4 main games of the year (Spring Classics, Giro, Tour, Vuelta). At the end of the year the member with the greatest number of points will be crowned the PCMDaily Fantasy Cycling Champion 2016.
Only a few rules to note:
-Please ensure you use the same user name for each game. If you use different usernames then points will be allocated to that name only. I don't have time to reconcile different usernames to the same individual.
-Please note I do not take responsibility for setting up PCMDaily leagues for the various races. We are usually quite good at setting up leagues and I will try to ensure that the leagues are advertised in this thread so you know which leagues to enter. Hopefully once people become aware of this competition/thread they will automatically start putting the details of the league into this thread.
-If I become aware of more then 1 league for a race I will advise which one will be used to score points in this thread.
-You don't need to enter every game throughout the year. Obviously you will simply not earn any points for races you do not enter.
-I don't believe any races are pay to play this season, however if any are then they won't count towards the competition so no players are disadvantaged. We can review this rule at the end of the season if any races are pay to play.
I will try to provide an updated league table after each game but this will be very much dependant on free time at my end.
I think that's about it. Let me know if you have any questions.
Good Luck

Good initiative I'll certanly try to attend the whole season through. I got on question: What will happend with the velogames you'll have to pay to compete in? Are these included in the overall? |

I wasn't aware you had to pay for any of the Velogames competitions. I've certainly never paid to play. Are some of the races pay to play only or do they simply offer additional options for the money you pay. |

Some tours are pay to play, f.e Tour de France is free but Tour de Suisse is pay to play.

There's no trace of info about it on their site, unlike last season, so I assume it just didn't have much success and they took it away.

Thanks guys. I couldn't see any mention of fees on the site either which is why I assumed there were none.
As this is the first year of trying to get this competition off the ground I'll say that if any of the races are pay to play then they won't count towards the competition. That way players who don't want to pay won't be disadvantaged. I'll make a note in the original email to say as much.
We can review it at the end of the year if any races are pay to play to see if they should be included going forward.
Cheers |

Nice idea, this will also give motivation to compete in "lower" Velogames except for the GTs and classics, eg Tour Down Under where I have made a team just for that now.

I said it on the TDU thread and saw it in there twitter feed, apparently it's too hard to set up premium competitions.

First time I joined this, but do they update scores on an ongoing race.
Like TDU stage 1 ?
I even got thrilled picking Sean Lake in my team. KoM leader for a day at least. Got to score some points for that
UniSA riders always get aggressive the first days in TDU and Sean showed spirit in the Championship.
Then impressed how fast Caleb truly is... Next Missile in WT !!!

Yeah, they always do updates after each stage. Since it's mostly one person that runs the site though, rarely it's happened they weren't updated constantly.

It says on the site that the scores are updated at 11pm CET on the day of the stage. I guess the time difference makes it seem like the site is taking ages to update. |

OK first time trying out Velogames setup. Kind of not too bad, think finished 12th in pcmdaily-league.
What about this going on a whole season ???
It will be damn hard to keep an eye and join each and every race if they have plenty-full of this. Shouldn't only WT races be in this overall ranking ?
Should be much easier to take on that challenge.
So many different games like this, procyclingstats.com and firstcycling got nice ones too. All new avenues for me
Nice idea whatever mate.

Only the major races are covered by Velogames, there's only about 10 competitions in the season. Also only Spring Classics has transfers with the others you just pick a team and let it ride, so it isn't that demanding |

The fact that I finished in the top 25 to earn points is enough to satisfy the rest of the season. In the Grand Tours I never cracked the Top 100.

Congrats to Ian Russell for winning the opening race of the season. I've put the current league table into the original post.
I guess Ian holds the Yellow Jersey for the next few weeks until the Paris-Nice/Tirreno-Adriatico. You have permission to add a footnote to your posts to advise everyone of your achievement
I've sent an email to the organisers to see if they can provide a calendar of the races they will be covering this season. I'll stick it on here if I get a response.
Cheers |
