Less than 2 weeks left untill le grand départ so time to start a pre-race thread for la grand boucle. I suppose this is where you post team selections, intresting previews and all other news!
I'll start of with giving a link to the online version of the roadbook. Very intresting to look through with much information. https://www.letour.fr/le-tour/2015/us/...865678.pdf
One thing that immediately caught my eye is the new leaders jerseys. First of all because they're hideous! Seriously why on earth is it necessary to shade the Arc de Thriomphe in there. So much better if they're plain yellow. And the fake collar should be ridiculed forever. Also quite strange to see the green jersey without PMU sponsoring.
And some fresh news: Gilbert won't ride the Tour this year. He was really angry with Ochowicz a couple days ago that he had to 'prove' himself to get into the selection. BMC cite a leg injury but he himself never mentioned any leg injury in an interview in yesterdays newspaper.

Are we supposed to make stupid top 10 predictions here as well?

So PMU is not longer green jersey sponsor, which is now sponsored by Å koda, which was sponsoring the white jersey for years. So "KRYS" is new kid on the block.

I think the road is really good. Really interesting with MANY stages with uphill finishes (don't mind the MTF).. I heard that this year there will be bonus seconds, is it true ? If so..sounds really good....for a rider like Valverde.
The one thing is missing is one TT (about 25-30 km), would be perfect after the Pireneys in 15-th or 16-th stage. I afraid that the lack of TT could make the race very defensive "waiting for the 3-rd week"
My prediction :
1. Froome
2. Quintana
3. Contador
4. Pinot
5. Nibali
6. Valverde
7. TVG
8. Bardet
9. Dan Martin (if he don't fall....which is kinda hard to believe I like him but...yeah)
10. Kelderman/Ten Dam/Zubeldia
P.s. I'm pretty sure that before the TTT at least 3 or 4 of there riders will be out of the battle due to fall or a big time loss... I hope that I'm wrong, but... |

The bonus seconds are only on stages 2-8 so not on the mtf's but riders like Valverde or Purito can gain some seconds on the Murs

I actually like that change! Working with seconds will give some other guys a chance for the jersey and it avoids situations like "he needs to have finished 45th to keep the jersey"
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

According to the race rulebook:
Time bonuses are awarded at all of road stage
finishes that is to say with the exception of the
individual and team time trial stages.
They are 10, 6 and 4 seconds to the first three
riders to finish.
However, this is directly contradicted by the information on the race website as posted above, so I have no clue which one is correct. Well done ASO!
I'll be back later with some predictions and yet more ranting about the route

7 stage wins for Froome. I think you are still stuck in April Fool's The Froome Fan-Mode.

7 stage wins for Froome. I think you are still stuck in April Fool's The Froome Fan-Mode. Nope, mate.I just think that no-one will be able to match a doped-Froome.
Oh,and I want Contador to win but no,he is tired and not on his 2009 form.I want him to prove me wrong though
About Quintana he will do early attacks but will get passed by Froome everytime.
Nibali will be very underpar. |

I love how I've started this thing of random predictions.
1. Vincenzo Nibali
2. Nairo Quintana
3. Tejay van Garderen
4. Alberto Contador
5. Jean - Christophe Peraud/ Pierre Rolland/Surprise Rider
6. Alejandro Valverde
7. Thibaut Pinot
8. Haimar Zubeldia
9. Romain Bardet
10. Rafael Majka
Green: Peter Sagan (but very close with Kristoff/Coquard this time)
Polka Dots: Pierre Rolland (really hope this is a French rider)
White: Thibaut Pinot (or is he too old, then Majka, or whoever is young enough)
Nibali gets time early and just holds on in front of Quintana, Contador is too tired, Froome crashes out, Van Garderen rides well, Peraud, Rolland or a surprise amazing rider (or I just didn't think of) comes fifth does amazing Valverde just misses the top 5 after showing some good form in the last week, Pinot and Bardet ride well considering the field, Zubeldia does nothing and Majka is given carte blanche in the final week letting him sneak into the top ten.
And yes, none of this will be true.

1. Nairo
2. Froomey
3. Contador
4. Rodriguez
5. Fuglsang (I can be a nationalistic prick as well)
6. Bardet
7. Nibali
8. Pinot
9. Valverde
10. Majka
And now I just realized that those riders didnt make my top-10: Martin, Talansky, Mollema, Peraud, Tejay... yeah, lots of GC-contenders this year. I like Fuglsang chances a lot and think he will be better uphill this year than Nibali. Rodriguez showing signs and I am here to hope he will pull his godlike last week out from 2013.
Green: No clue, dont care
Polkas: My man Pierre R! Or Nairo.
White: Bardet, ofc.
Let it be July! Preeeeeeaaaase.
