Being a D2 race last season the Delta Tour Zeeland will be raced as Continental 3-day race in 2013. But different to the cobbled course back then it`s a perfect route for the pure sprinters, who will get their chance on 2 completely flat routes and also for prologue experts, who will have to try to distance the sprinters on the first 5,7km prologue.
So it`s not very surprising to see some of the very best sprinters in the field.
Starting with the brilliant duo Guillén/Steegmans. Definitely the strongest duo here but while Guillén might be the faster sprinter, Steegmans has a decent strength in short time trials, which surely helps him here. Will be interesting to see how or if they work together.
Another very high rated sprinter is Kankovský. The Czech might be one of the best prologue riders in general here and most important for him, the best within the sprinters.
Behind those two teams we have lots of other great sprinters, who could be put into two groups. One group for the better prologue riders like Chavanel/Duque, Keough, Giacoppo and the 2nd group of pure sprinters, who need to gain the time back with bonus seconds: Dekkers, Abdallah, Lasca, Gavazzi or Barclay.
But on a course like this we mustn`t forget the prologue specialists, where Flens definitely is on top of all others. The Dutch is the clear favourite on the first stage, but the big question is how much time he is able to gain on the sprinters.
Other prologue riders are: Joeaar, Horgan, Hacecky or Sebright.
A surprising outside team is the Dutch Gazelle squad, who usually is named within the top favourites, while Adira and Barcelona have to hope for some individual performances.

I do not know what to expect of this race since my sprinters do not give any guarantee of good results. Therefore whatever comes will be welcome ...
Guillen is my main favorite but others may surprise you.

Very strong field. Glad I decided to not split up my time-trialists and focus 100% on doing well in Ireland.
I love how the calendar sometimes forces us to make decisions like that, SN. That's deliberate I assume?
As clear underdogs I hope Sentjens and Vangenechten try a breakaway. Other than that I'm content with zero points.

I don't remember why I chose this race... Whitout a top sprinter we don't have a chance to do anything in this race.

Keough has fared well in his earlier C2 races, so AMEX has hopes he will be challenging here in Zeeland. We also have a strong tt rider in Sebright.
As a long shot we have Yannick Stoltz a breakaway threat on this flat courses and once away he is hard to ride down.
Looking forward to this tour.

Decent start that. Need a good result here so I hope the boys can climb in the GC.

Interesting gaps. Still not sure whether a TT'er or a sprinter will win this.

Finally a win for Abdallah! We brought the strongest team possible for him. Great lead out. Now just hoping for a miracle on the next stage

This team is one of those teams, that proves how important planning is in the Man Game!
You did a good job there, Smowz. |

aww shucks thank you roturn
This type of race is one for the chrono men and Cadburys whilst lacking a really good one have several decent ones. Time for some unstylish points yum yum.

A pity that Howson and Enger was on the wrong side of the split. Decent sprint from Giacoppo, hopefully he will get a train in the next stage. Looking like it will be a race for the TT riders now..

Good results there for BNCR and Amex, but as for the race itself, felt as though something was missing; may have been how short it was, but it lacked any real excitement.

This was a good outing for AMEX. Jake Keough continues his strong sprinting in the CT and TT specialist Aubrey Sebright hangs in for a top 10 GC.
Add to that Sebright snags the U-25 Jersey.
It was also nice to see two of our stagiaries get their first pro experience.
