Stage Editor: How to fix Road Overlap ? Bad Slope ?
Whomario
And please no simple "make it wider" or "move the road points". What buttons do i have to click where to achieve this ?

Much appreciated Smile

A very basic pictorial:

1. Locate the overlap

2. Click one of the two little arms reaching out from the roadpoint

3. Click and drag the blue triangle further away from the roadpoint

4. Voilà!

Another way would be to unclick the "Snap objects to landscape", click the blue arrow of the road point and move it a little bit to get a better angle.

Sometimes its really annoying like the way Pelizotti showed, so this could be an alternative if you still couldn't get it done.

Thanks for both your advice Smile any tips on how to prevent it to happen in the first place ?

And what about "bad route slope" ? OK, so aparently going up the Teide to the very top is not sane, but what if i wanna ? Wink

Or how about a simple one: How to i move in the 3d view ? All i can do is zoom or go up and down, but not move on the screen, it allways stays centered ....

Pellizotti2 - Nice advice Wink

I'm not sure what do you mean by asking the answer not to be "move the road points". If you meant you wanted a more detailed answer (but which could be, in essence, "move the road points" ), then what you need to do is change the road point with the same blue arrow of Pellizotti's screens, but instead of clicking on the arms of the curve line, click on the road point itself, then use the blue arrow to move it.

However if it meant that "move the road points" was not good advice in your opinion, then I'll have to disagree Wink Most road overlaps happen because points are too close - which usually also leads to a not-so-nice gameplay (it doesn't feel much smooth if there are too many road points, and too many close to each other). This is also the way of how to prevent them from happening - just use fewer road points. Besides preventing road overlapping it gives a nicer gameplay (imo). Just ask Pellizotti - I'd be quite surprised if his stages have more than ~3 road overlaps after he creates the roads Wink

i literally needed someone to tell me how to move a road point. I knew i had to do it because i read it at a dozen different places, but no one thought to mention how to actually do it Wink

In that sense "move the road point" was very much the same to me as a formula of higher mathematics would have been Wink

For the bonus point, someone could explain what the different colours in the road points/route flags mean ? Smile

So basically the idea is to not follow the route you create on bikemap or wherever but to make as many straight lines as possible ? Because there´s tutorials out there claiming that you actually need to create as many road points as possible for it to be "nice looking" ...

And anyone care to explain how to create slopes to ease up the big percentages on climbs ? Create more road points then ?

Also, how do i make a stage into a TT ?

When you assign a sprint or the finish, you have the option for TT

To ease up, you have to de-tick "Snap objects to landscape" and play with the blue arrow up and down to smooth the slope

Usually yes, unless the stage includes a pain in the ass climb like the Finestre Pfft

They move the roadpoint in different directions. I recommend you ignore all but the blue one, since that one can move in all directions anyway.

Consider the line to be the stage's bedrock. You should try to follow it quite closely, but not on the millimeter. For example, you can't follow the road exactly up certain climbs, because the switchbacks are packed too closely together.

The previously mentioned Finestre is a textbook example:

With PCM's 1/10 scale, you'll never be able to add all these short turns. That's when you diverge from the line and add longer turns that doesn't cause road overlap.

And we're back to your favourite answer: "Move the roadpoints" Pfft

But seriously, that's what you need to do. If the slope between two points is steeper than you'd like it to be, just click the 2nd point and use the blue triangle to move it down the mountainside.

hmm, the option is only there for the start, for the finish i can choose between various flat and various mountain finishes it seems ? (same for the in between sprints)

but thanks for the answers so far, actually managed a decently passable mountain top finish.
Now i i can only get the TT thing to work i´ll be good to go Smile

lluuiiggii
In the flat finish, there'll be a list with flat finish types like "flat", "hill", "classic". In this list you need to choose "time trial".
