I have now for almost 2 years tried to create a proper logo for my custom teams ( know the size(s) and that the background must be invisible.
I have been unable to do this ( or rather merge) in my two graphics programs so far so today I got PaintNet,since so many seems to use that one.
After 5 hours of trying I was still no further than before
So I said to myself You have to ask someone about this.So if anyone please could post a step by step instruction on how to make/merge in PaintNet so I can make the proper logo's then I would be most grateful.
What are your other graphic programs? And what exactly is merge the logo?
One way to do it is save the logo as .png. This will create an alpha channel (which contains the invisible background). Then you open this .png file and save it as .tga/.dds.

I have tried the PNG option inumerous timesnbut it consistensly changes the background from invisible to white
Merge is when you have a foreground i.e. the logo pic and the invisible background
and they are a very old but reliable PSP3 and Photoshop Elements 7 and now PaintNet too... so I'm not short of options.
Have you tried googling it and seeing what others have put about it? Sometimes there are forums for paint.net with help and guidance. Also, look on youtube for a step by step videos.
That is what I did when I first started using gimp.
Thanks for the advice, but I can happily announce I HAVE DONE IT...after all that time of trying I finally made a proper and functional logo...a,d it was one simple word (alpha) which gave me the idea how i could use multiple graphics (systems) There are probably an easier way to do this, but now I know how too......and now I'm happy
