First all, I've only just got PCM 2012. I'm really sorry if you're tired of answering questions from newbies but there are just a couple of things I've been wondering.
I've started a game on easy. I've set up a custom team, scouted a load of youngsters to make up a small but promising squad and am starting out life on the Continental Tour. So, I'm wondering...
1. Do I need staff? Are they a waste of money at this level due to their woeful skill set? Will my riders improve without them? Obviously if I could release them it would take the pressure off my budget!
2. My sponsors fancy stage wins in the Paris-Nice, California Road etc. The former is not even listed on my schedule, so I can't apply to enter. And the latter I've been rejected from entering. I'm guessing this is normal for a lowly Continental Tour tour team? Am I right?
3. Why does my custom team name appear in capitals, while all the other teams are in lower case? I know this sounds pathetic but it is really bugging me. Anyone else frustrated by this? Is there an easy way to solve it?
Think that's all for now. I spent most of last night playing with the training schedules etc and reckon I've got the hang of that, so as soon as I know I can ignore the sponsor's 'unrealistic' goals, I can crack on.
1. You don't need staff. But if you have a good trainer, your riders would develop better. You can fire the medic and if the scout is too expensive, you could fire him too.
2. Have you installed the latest patch? It should fix strange sponsor goals to a certain degree. But you don't have to care about the sponsor goals at all, because the sponsor will neither fire you nor raise or lower the budget based on the results. To get more money, you should look for a new sponsor when the current contract is running out.
3. You can edit it using an editor, for example the one in my signature. The table is called DYN_team, just look for your team and fix it. (The save is here: my documents\pcm12\users\your name\database\solo\name of DB\
1. you can fire your staf, and your riders will develop, but the game uses a standart trainer with a 1 for everything. i always have one scout to find prommesing tallents, but that is up to you. and the doctor, i fire him and hire one when needed.
2. you can change your sponsor goals by using an editor (lachis editor for example), you can find them in the download section, and when you use the forum search you can find how to do it.
3. a bug, you can also change this in an editor.
hope this helps
EDIT: lachi is faster as always...

It costs some money to sign a new trainer (signing bonus or something) so if your trainer has good stats, then I would keep him. You can fire him later if you really struggle.
For future careers:
When starting a career, you can set the financial difficulty. "Easy" means that the sponsor will pay some extra money additionally to your riders wages. But since this extra money is a % of your rider wages, you might want to add some expensive riders to your team when building your custom team.
For your actual career:
If you really have financial problems but like to continue your career, you can always fix the budget or your bank account using the editor. Try the forum search for instructions or ask again.
The default trainer stats seem to variable from carrer to career. For example, here's what I've got in 2 different careers:
Career 1
Climber - 6
Fighter/Cobble - 4
Puncheur/Tours/TT - 2
As for the sponsor goals, they're indeed usually unrealistic for custom teams. As Lachi said, they have little influence, but if you want to change them: https://pcmdaily.com/tipstricks.php?ti...p?tipid=52
