I think it's a big problem in that the riders stopsĀ their careers too early ...
A pro racing cyclist does not stop when he is 33 years old .. more like 35-38 some 40 ..
in "pro cycling manager 2012" evans is stopping after the first season. But he has stated that there are at least 2 years until he is stopsĀ as a professional racing cyclist.
Which shows how bad the database is ! please Fix Daily

I'm afraid it's not possible to change this.. in earlier games, there was a column which corresponded to until which year a rider would ride I think, but now we can only change the year his stats will start to decrease.

but surely delaying this would mean that they're at the top for longer, and wouldn't retire?
then remembers my PCM11 save, where Sammy Sanchez retired (despite having about mid70s for stats) |

I don't think that the rider's stats have any influence over him retiring or not. I'd say it's a random chance each year, which grows bigger as the years go by.

there's a "will retire at the end of season box" in 11. Maybe in 12 too?

Yes, this column is there, but it doesn't help to avoid riders from retiring early

Oh, I thought that if they were gonna, or were retired, that would stop it.

I think that if you set his age decrease to say 36 then he will first retire at 36/37 |

Perhaps it has some effect, but it's not 100% sure that the rider will ride until the age his stats start to decrease:
Unless the guy was playing with the Official Release, apparently Contador's age of decline is 30 on that

Age of decline has nothing to do with that. It the year when the stats of a rider will start to drop. Obviously this should be long before he retires else there would be no use of that setting.
And if you set this value to 36 for all riders, then they would all increase in stats until they are 36. I doubt this has anything do to with realism. |

Something needs to be done to fix this, however. Both Schlecks, Contador and Wiggins have retired in one of my saves. Just not realistic. |
