I am wondering, in pcm,
1. Is it possible for example for Lampre to promote guys from ISD Cont., or are they considered to independent teams?
2. Can you create a developement team?
Thanks

1. No
2. No
They are independent teams, and has no affiliation with other teams in PCM.

That sucks. It's unrealistic. Maybe they could incorperate that into another game.

Why is it unrealistic? Rabobank don't promote guys from Rabobank CT. They sign them just as they do with other riders. They just give young riders an opportunity to show themselves. They have no other affiliation than their name.
At least, that is what I have been told.

You have been told wrong.
Radioshack have promoted George Bonnet from Trek-Livestrong during the season.

So because they 'promote' one rider, they're bound together as teams? I'm pretty sure riders from Trek-Livestrong are free to sign any other team. They're not bound by a contract telling them to join RadioShack.

Prime example being Taylor Phinney.

It's something I miss as well.
No matter if young riders promote or they get a new contract at the pro team, there's a high level of cooperation.
It's unrealistic to see Rabobank sign young talents, while at the same time Rabobank CT tries to win the TdF with Wilco Kelderman.
It could be a huge improvement if this got fixed in any way in the next edition. Okay, it's a huge advantage to the teams that have a development team, but well, that's how it works. |

+1 I had Brad Wiggins go to ISD - Continental, that's unrealistic.

There is always a lot of criticism regarding the transfer system, but I think it adds abit of spice to the game, something which is needed.
In my save Landbouwkredit (or how the hell you spell it) was promoted to the WT and signed Cancellara as their only new rider. I love things like that, it's fun to see how smaller teams do with maybe just 1 or 2 new stars in their roster.
Besides, you can't really say that all the different signings that occur in PCM are that unrealistic, can you? Conta and Lance, anyone? |

Some teams ARE linked in real life. The reason Phinney left Trek for BMC and not the Shack is that his contract was up. But i know of some rabo continental riders who have left to go to Rabo senior team whose contracts were not up. Thus they are in a privileged position of being able to promote a rider mid contract, much like a football team can promote a player from the reserves - the major difference being that the promotions can only take place at the end of a season.
What I'd like to see is links but in place within the database is a stat which dictates a rider from a certain teams PREFERENCE of which team he would like to join. e.g. a Rabo Continental rider may have say a 50% chance of signing for the Rabobank professional outfit. Therefore it is possible for a rider to leave the set up after his Junior team contract is up, but has a preference to stay within the set up.
To avoid the crap rider getting promoted, this could only apply to rider with a potential of say 5 or higher. Perhaps the higher the potential, the higher the % chance that they sign for the teams senior squad.
One simpler idea that I think HAS to be in the next installment is an age cap for teams. A simple tick box option would do. i.e. if the box is ticked, the team will not sign riders over the age of 23.

Are there even any teams in the official database which are linked in real life? If not, then you don't even have to start arguing about the need of such a functionality. Cyanide would never implement a feature only suitable for DB makers. |

To my opinion it would be a really neat edit to the game. Then you will have the possibility to let youth riders grow in your continental team and when they are ready you can get them in your own team as team mates of maybe more. Also i really don't like it that you can only have 30 riders in your team. I really like to see youngsters progress through the time. Thats something i always liked about manager games.
It would be really nice to also start cycling academies or something. But thats maybe a bit surrealistic.
But Rabobank CT is some sort of academy for Rabobank. It is also because Rabobank is depending more on youth than other teams are. So give them there the advantage then. And let Katusha and Radioshack have lots more money. Then you can even it. |
