Hi, it's BiKing here, heading up the start of this crazy site last year with the first of our soon to be many news posts. Pendleton's may give their own views on their website but we're hoping this will be really fun and fresh. It comes off the back of hitting double figures with the membership of WheelieBigBiker after only 9 months live on the webz!
So, without further ado, here's the news: courtesy of AndyFenneway27 we have some pics of Brad Wiggins out on a road ride on the Fylde ahead of a season back in the ProTour. Check out the great stripes on the team's custom CBoardman bikes and the first time we've seen that new jersey out in the wild.
Looking good Brad. And Andy says that Brad only got worried about him following after 8 miles - good stalking Andy!
Just to round-up - we'll find out the results of the negotiations soon but here is the squad from the end of the season:
Bradley Wiggins
David Millar
Steven Cummings
Ed Clancy - won't be renewing [track commitments]
Tim Kennaugh
Mark McNally
Thomas Faiers
Matt Cronshaw
Mikael Cherel
Mathieu Ladagnous
Amael Moinard
Sebastien Duret
Phillipe Gilbert
Frederik Willems
Nico Sijmens
Jaume Rovira
Esteban Mardones
Cherif Abdallah
Juan Van Heerden
Andrea Moletta
Eduard Vorganov
Borut Bozic

Good luck in the PT btw .

Your sponsor is Bermudan?
I'd be perfectly happy for you to have him - and good luck to you too, hopefully there won't be just a few points between us for relegation as well

Vesuvio-Accumalux may be interested in the return of David Millar to our squad, the team where he enjoyed his greatest succeses, with an eye for moving into a management role at some point down the line, if Pendleton's Twicer are realistic in their ideas of how much they expect to receive for him.

Pendleton's Twicers are always realistic in their ideas - we would merely hope for an offer respectful of a rider of David Millar's stature - we are always pleased to deal with people.

Team Presentation Blackwell Arts & Crafts House
2012. ProTour. The Dream becomes Reality.
OMW Sports set out in 2010 to become one of the greatest cycling teams in the world. AON Global signed on as main sponsor but after a disastrous transfer season in which excessive amounts were spent on attaining Phillipe Gilbert, they left the team unhappy with their 15th place ranking. But Pendleton's Twicer came on board as they relaunched their ice cream to the masses and they came away with 4th in the team rankings and race wins at the Rund um den Eischborn Frankfurt, the Philadelphia International Classic and the Tour of Pendle, amongst multiple stage wins and high placings. So there they were, at the end of the season, preparing for the ProTour.
So without further ado, the team!
Leaders
Phillipe Gilbert
A rather apt image for Phillipe, an aggressive rider to the core. Throughout his time at our team (right from the beginning) we have encouraged his attacking instinct and he has always taken the race to the opposition, including record-setting back-to-back wins in the Philadelphia International Classic. For 2012 he will be our leader and will be aiming to peak for the Ardennes Classics, where he is hugely motivated for the win.
Important Stats: Flat 80 Hill 80 TT 72 Stamina 80 Resistance 76 Recovery 76 Cobbles 72 Acceleration 75 Fighter 78
He will wear this jersey throughout the year as Belgian National Champion:
David Zabriskie
An American legend, DZNuts comes to us from Wikipedia after a slightly dissapointing season in regards to his exacting standards. A brilliant time-triallist who can get over climbs, the former Tour of California winner is a candidate for the shorter stage races with TTs. He will hope to regain his title in Cali alongside some other goals.
Important Stats: Flat 79 Mountain 74 Hill 73 TT 84 Stamina 73 Resistance 76 Recovery 76
As current USA ITT Champion, he will race solo in this beautiful jersey:
Daniel Martin
The Irishman rode with 100%ME last year but has taken a real step up for this season and will be our leader in the mountains. A rider for the Grand Tours, he is the nephew of the great Stephen Roche and thus cousing of current rider Nicolas Roche. Our big target from the transfer season, he is raring to go for the climbs.
Important Stats: Mountain 80 Hill 77 TT 71 Stamina 77 Resistance 77 Recovery 77 Acceleration 76
By virtue of winning the Irish Road Race Championships last year, he will be wearing this shamrock jersey:
Denis Menchov
With 3 Grand Tour wins under his belt, Denis Menchov is possibly Russia's best ever rider. Although he's reaching the end of his career, he is still game for the stage races and will be gunning for the GTs that Dan isn't. This may be his last opportunity and we would love to give Denis the swansong he deserves. The only man with the ability to fall uphill.
Important Stats: Mountain 79 Hill 74 TT 72 Stamina 75 Resistance 78 Recovery 78 Acceleration 77
Geraint Thomas
Our cobbles leader for the year, Geraint comes on loan from Rapha. One of Britain's best riders, he's still only a youngster and will be ecstatic to see a British ProTour Classic with the East Midlands International. This and Paris-Roubaix are his aims for the seasons. We're not expecting a big win but top 10's in those would leave us very happy. A strong finishing kick will be useful in that respect.
Important Stats: Flat 75 Stamina 75 Cobbles 79 Sprint 74 Acceleration 78
Lieutenants
Konstantin Siutsou
The winner of last year's Japan Cup came on a big deal from Red Bull - he wanted a ProTour spot and we could provide it. The guy can really climb and will be doing a vital job supporting our two leaders in the mountains. He won't get much of a chance to lead the team but he will get his wish of participating in the greatest available races in the world, namely the Tour de France.
Important Stats: Mountain 77 Hill 74 TT 72 Stamina 74 Resistance 74 Recovery 74
Thomas Faiers
Our young British talent spent last year in the PT with Vesuvio - Accumalux, even getting the opportunity to ride the Vuelta, where he came in the top 100 while helping Benat Intxausti to 8th place. Next season he could even be one of our leaders but for now he will be helping out Martin and Menchov in the stage races, his best facet, including both the Giro and the Vuelta.
Important Stats: Mountain 76 Hill 70 TT 73 Stamina 73 Resistance 73 Recovery 76 Fighter 74 XP 4.10
Borut Bozic
Borut rode as our deputy sprinter last year and came up with some useful results. Juan Van Heerden left the team in exchange for David Zabriskie so Borut will need to step up to the plate. His advantage over the field is his ability in the hills which means he can hopefully get to the finish in good shape. We were surprised not to receive any offers for him in the off-season so he is happy to stay with us in the ProTour. Let's hope he can rack up a few results.
Important Stats: Flat 71 Hill 68 Stamina 71 Recovery 77 Sprint 78 Recovery 76
Jianhua Ji
China is a hotbed of talent - over a billion people - there must be some good cyclists there. And we think we've found a gem. The other part of the Siutsou deal with Red Bull, Jianhua still has some experience to gain on his way to being a champion climber, but he will be incredibly useful as a super-domestique this year. He will even race all 3 Grand Tours supporting the likes of Martin and Menchov, something that will stand him in good stead for next year, hopefully with us (despite the attentions of new Asian team, Meiji Fuji).
Important Stats: Mountain 76 Hills 74 Stamina 72 Recovery 71 XP 4.2
He is the Chinese National Champion and will wear this jersey:
Bradley Wiggins
With 3 Olympic Gold Medals under his belt, Brad certainly has pedigree. He will be hoping to defend his title in his home Olympics, but on the way he can have a crack at both individual and team time trials. Although he's a classy rider, Brad has kept his interests on the track and has never really fulfilled his potential on the road. Nonetheless he had some great performances last year, including second place in the Tour of the Channel Islands Prologue.
Important Stats: Flat 74 TT 78 Acceleration 76
Domestiques
Pieter Mertens
Upon the signature of Geraint Thomas, we knew we needed some helpers for the cobbles. Pieter Mertens is one of those men but thankfully he's not one-dimensional. He's very helpful in the hills and will be racing all the classics.
Important Stats: Flat 72 Hills 70 Stamina 74 Resistance 72 Recovery 71 Cobbles 75
Matthieu Ladagnous
He was a surprise last year for us - we have always had a strong French unit but Matthieu was only signed as a lead-out man. He was not just useful for Juan and team time trials but he claimed good GC positions in a number of races, including the Tour of the Med. This year he takes a step up and will ride the Tour de France, as well as helping out in some of the TTTs that come our way.
Important Stats: Flat 72 TT 74 Stamina 71 Recovery 72 Sprint 74 Acceleration 77
Francis Mourey
Coming from a cyclo-cross background, Francis is another help for the cobbles for Mr Thomas. He is also good in the mountains and will ride in this years Tour de France.
Important Stats: Mountains 71 Stamina 70 Resistance 73 Recovery 72 Cobbles 75 Acceleration 73
Russell Downing
Russ is a legend on the UK domestic scene - he dominated there for years and years. But today we're giving him his ProTour chance, and with it the opportunity to race all the classics. A hilly rider with a sprint, he could well find success from a breakaway.
Important Stats: Flat 72 Hill 73 Stamina 72 Resistance 70 Sprint 74 Acceleration 75 Fighter 72
Ran Margaliot
Rescued from the ashes of Deadpool's team, Ran will be racing hard in the ProTour. Despite being one of our youngest riders he is still well experienced and it is both the Ardennes Classics and the Grand Tours where he will be put to use. He may well be the first Israelian rider in the Tour de France.
Important Stats: Flat 70 Mountain 71 Hill 74 Stamina 74 Resistance 72
Andrea Moletta
Andrea is an important part of our team for the hilly classics and will be at Phillipe's side all the way. He rode well with the team last year and this year will be rewarde by riding his home tour, the Giro d'Italia.
Important Stats: Flat 70 Hill 75 Stamina 74 Resistance 70 Recovery 71
Sebastien Duret
Only Phillipe and Seb have been with the team from the start and Sebastien has always exceeded expectations. After strong results in the World's View Challenge in 2010 and last year he came an astounding 4th overall in the Tour Down Under. This year he gets a place on the Ardennes Classics team and in the Tour de France.
Important Stats: Flat 72 Hill 72 Stamina 73 Resistance 71 Recovery 72 Acceleration 73 Fighter 72
Steve Cummings
Steve is a strong lad from the Wirral with an aptitude for time trialling and a strong work ethic. He and Phil Deignan will be racing the most this year with 105 days of competition.
Important Stats: Flat 72 TT 73 Stamina 70 Resistance 70 Recovery 71
Phil Deignan
Another Irish climber, Philip will be supporting Dan all across Europe and the rest of the world. An epically hard-working team mate, Phil is an extremely useful rider to have with us and we look forward to a great relationship with him. As well as riding all 3 Grand Tours, Phil will ride his home Tour and will obviously look to be active there.
Important Stats: Flat 71 Mountain 73 Hill 71 Stamina 71 Recovery 70
David Millar
A faithful servant to British cycling, David has been outspoken against drugs since his two year ban after admitting EPO. He has returned and had a sparkling year, joining Pendleton's at the beginning of last year. He is a brilliant time triallist, although this may be his last year at the top. He will be racing in all the TTTs and the Chrono des Herbiers, his last chance for a big win. Sadly it does not seem likely, but we know he will put his heart and soul into the competition and can pass on some of his mountain of experience to our upcoming talent (and, may I add, our fierce anti-doping policy). David has also expressed an interest of moving into management with the team in the future.
Important Stats: TT 75
Youth Brigade
Jonathan McEvoy
Jonathan McEvoy presents us with a dilemma - another rider similar to Russ Downing (who he will be partnered with this year), it leaves us with a decision to make as regards his own specialisation. Hilly rider with a kick? Sprinter who can get over the hills? Who knows... This season will give us a good opportunity to see what he can do. While we're mulling over his future, he will be getting his chops around a race schedule including both the cobbled and hilly classics.
Important Stats: Hill 71 Stamina 70 Sprint 73 Acceleration 74 Fighter 75 XP 3.26
Tim Kennaugh
Another ride from the Manx dynasty of cycling, Tim is the brother of Peter Kennaugh, a sprinter who has already experienced huge success. However, Tim is better equipped for the stage races. Although he raced with us last year, he may take a couple more seasons to realise his full potential and this year will experience the ProTour for the first time, taking part in many short, mountainous stage races.
Important Stats: Flat 72 Mountain 71 XP 3.2
Tom Copeland
Another rider from Wikipedia, Tom is a another British climbing talent who will need a couple more seasons to reach his maximum ability. He may never be a leader but he will be a useful rider and we hope to see him take a lot out of this season, especially from his participation in the Giro d'Italia.
Important Stats: Mountain 70 XP 3.26
So there we are, the riders who will make up the Pendletons Twicers squad for 2012. But there's more to the team than just the riders...
Equipment
Next year we will be riding in this kit (designed by the mercurial Will007) :
We will also be riding the great Boardman's bikes, modelled here by a stone-faced Tom Faiers and painted by AnFreeman:
Let's hope it will be a great season. More news will be coming soon and we will try to keep our fans up-to-date.

Gotta say, I love this team, the jerseys are really awesome (especially the Chinese National Champ ) the frames, the British focus, and then you have a bunch of really other cool riders too, like DZ.

Whilst I'm not a fan of the main jersey, those national champ jerseys are awesome.
Good luck this year, although with the team you've got, I don't think you'll need it (although you always, always need Cya-logic luck )

If you like that blue-pink thingy, then you're all gay
Nice team you've built here, wacko. It will be interesting to see what Gilbert can do at PT level.

Have to agree, a great set of riders and fun set of jerseys.
I was sad to let Dave Z go, but now he gets the chance to lead not be handcuffed by Phinney. I'll really be pulling for him to finish 2nd in Cali

Thanks very much. If Fenian already has them then it doesn't matter about the helmets though, because I don't have PCM11.
Thanks for all the praise and slating of the jerseys. The national champs jerseys prove that, when I don't give Will007 a horrible colour scheme, he can create a brilliant jersey.
And I do think I will need some luck, relegation seems a serious possibility to me.

Tbh I can't see your team relegating, some other teams should be more scared than you are (once again, just my opinion)
