Xero legend George Bennett voluntarily tanking to get a pay cut for next year <3

Chiarello the mad men, trying to attack for yellow and drops down as a consequence lol
That attack was way too ambitious so i'll mark it down as dumb. Might also be one of the worst climbing days for him since joining Evonik. Right now, he sits in that weird area of the GC where he is too low to score huuuge but too high to get good break chances.
Glad to finally see Lecuisinier in yellow but even then, it's not even close to as dominant as one might have thought / hoped / wished. Instead its once again Isostar who dominate the headlines. (Also Huski, congrats to both)

Disappointed by Benoot so far. Not seeing much of him despite some good stages for him.
The rest of the team is very aggressive though, putting multiple riders into breakaways. I was expecting Tolhoek to be the one who brings us a team here, but I'm very happy with it.

If Demare wasn't performing this well, it would be massively disappointing that we apparently are too busy protecting his green jersey on these stages to join the winning breakaways.
Being one of only six teams to not participate here when our best GC hope is hours down is very strange.
But as I said, Demare absolutely makes up for all of this! We could easily multitask, but no real complaints here.
Congrats to Inkelaar! What a way to announce yourself on the biggest stage, besides all the jersey stuff that already was impressive before.
This also easily seals Isostar's deserved PT victory, if that had ever been in doubt.

So we finally decide to join the breakaway game and it's Nikiema who does it? Not Habtemichael or, you know, Higuita who won a stage at the Vuelta from the break? Obviously I'd love it to be Bennett himself but I'm more hoping for that in the later week. Maybe his FTR stat just means it won't be him after he didn't in Spain though.

Guess it would have really sucked for Inkelaar to lose two days in a row to Huski Chocolate riders, but it also sucks for Rodriquez to have finished second in a stage two times now. Hopefully he can make up for it with a strong polka dots challenge.

Damn boy! I thought we didn't play it smart when Bardet and Roman got dropped and Bardet didn't feel it on the climbs, but what a performance by Inkelaar! Great to come back from yesterday going mad like this. Perfect execution!
Thanks for the great report!

Unlucky that my strong climbing team around Schlegel, Ciccone, Zardini isn`t joining the breakaways. Vanhoucke obviously the far too weak option here.
Really need bigger points soon. |

I'm quite annoyed that we didnt get into the break. Break selection of Evonik is pretty poor this year.
Congrats croatia, what a sick race for you! Poor Abhi, gets to pay Inkelaar so much more next season after Croatia can exploit his cheap wage this year

Gotta admit that I’m dangerously close to joining the group of members that have recently announced their retirement from the game.
This isn’t worth the time nor the effort anymore…

What a rollercoaster for Evonik in this race. Chiarello adds a second great stage result and climbs back to a fantastic GC position. Curious to see what else this race will bring us - no clue what to expect.
Completely understand sotds frustration - this should have been a total domination instead he seems to be beaten on every uphill by inferior opposition for no apparent reasons. Hopefully, he can get his stage wins on the remaining mountain top finishes.

Good to see Sosa and Brkic in the break, but nothing to do about Pinot again! Let's continue getting into those breaks, guys! Hopefully Nesset can try something the coming days.

Chiarello
My man delivers again. Not getting a gap given could end up costly in the long run but i'm super glad to see him deliver again. Superb race by him so far!

One more hilly stage to go and then it's time for Kritskiy to start his amazing come back to the podium: Three mountain stages and one time trial, we got to keep positive -> anything is possible!

With most hill stages done Olivier has gained exactly 0 on weaker hill opponents and in fact did lose on couple of those stages on riders such as Pinot, Eastman etc. without any real stage points.
So the main plan to take advantage of those didn`t work out. Can only hope he can show similar strength in the mountains to gain some more time on breakaway and TT riders.
Right now the plan to send him here due to the profiles instead of the Giro/Vuelta absolutely didn`t work.
Most annoying though that iirc he would sit on 2nd or 3rd right now without his flat stage loss on day 1. |

Couldn't really get something out of the stage despite 4 in the break which is a shame. Inkelaar instead of Bardet for the KOM wasn't smart, but probably Bardet just wasn't strong enough. Hopefully he can come back stronger in the high mountains. Inkelaar is looking superb though, loving that!

Hmm the last few stages were not really good for my team, but good to see Smith joining a break. However it seems like he just dropped back.
Hoping to still get that stage win in the last few stages. After already multiple podium spots, I think we are due one. |

Damn Abhi tell me any fee (that is not Per). Great performance. Smart move by the team to make Roman work for Inkelaar and at the end have him use the saved energy. Great result for us once more at this Tour!
