Great to be avoiding extra time losses, which makes him really unhappy about that Alarcon lost over a minute in the easiest hilly stage so far

Tvetcov and Lunke continues to give away time when there's a rather big group ahead. Hopefully they're only saving themselves for breakaways
Intrigued to see what the following flat stage brings. If it's raced passive, I'll rate Swift's chances, and I hope to see us commit and at least give it a shot. Worst case it doesn't work out Swift gets gapped when other teams decide to go for it on the hilly stuff, but if we don't try and chase the breakaway, we risk to never find out what Swift's chances could have been like for a stage win.
Thank you for the good reporting, roturn! |

Had to be the sprint behind a breakaway where Vesely for once showing pace until the line...
But it is an improvement. |

Got my hopes up as I saw the name in the breakaway, and the boys didn't disappoint. Would have been perfect if Pedersen had managed the win, but a great result regardless. Also a good stage for Nesset after being able to hang onto the "peloton". Just what we needed!
Congrats on the win, knockout!

Oh hell yeah
This is brilliant stuff. Love it
Good to know that chasing break success still works for me in GTs

Well, Gaviria won't win a stage then. Oomen caught napping again, he spent too much time training with Waeytens. And Dall'Oste playing the perfect team mate instead of the breakaway maniac.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Quiet stage for us and that's ok, it's important for Gesink not to lose any more energy than he needs to. On to the TT now.
Congrats ko!

Seeing how that stage developed, I got my hopes up for Swift's chances. Peloton wise, it felt like the stage was done in a perfect way for his chances, but admittedly those three up front were simply too strong. Congratulations, knockout!
Not being able to make anything from this tricky flat stage and the previous easy flat stage, means the pressure only builds ahead of stage 10 and 11. We'll need two wins there and no less. |

Evonik ALWAYS find a way in the GTs! Congrats knockout.
9th for Silvio adds two ranking points and some important ciclamino points, but it's weird to see Vasyliv up there and Arndt dropped for some reason, these two seem to alternate responsibilities and the other one keeps getting caught out.
If we want to win the teams classification, we need to stay closer to Aegon and keep everyone relevant at the front.
Time for the TT! The most important day of this Giro yet. If we can keep the jersey, anything's possible.
From my personal experience, I am somewhat hopeful MO will matter more than TT, which would help against Gesink and means we're looking to offset -2TT with the maglia rosa motivation boost against Spilak.

Bad luck that Olivier had a rather weak TT here.
In especially when comparing him to a very similar MO/TT rider like Bongiorno, he lost quite a lot. |

Bad day for us, but the GC fight is a lot more interesting this way!

Nice stage for Gesink that! Congrats Matt
Decent stage for our to GC guys also, and both inside the top 30. Would be a good result for us if we can keep it that way.

So close Spilak for pink

Disappointing. Didn't lose as much as I feared on the flat, but didn't take ANY time back on Gesink from then on either, clearly not a good day.
That's a big chunk of points lost over the next few stages, and unless we win stage 12 and Spilak somehow doesn't come second, we will not get back into pink for the first and already very decisive-looking mountaintop finish.
In that case, I might rather see nobody of the big 3 take seconds until then and have Gesink in the lead than get closer to the jersey but have it on Spilak's shoulders.
On the other hand, we got through the most volatile part of the GT (the weird hilly stages and the long TT) still being within bonus seconds reach of the stronger riders on that terrain, from here on out it's all about climbing which is obviously where Herklotz usually shines the most.
And until now we definitely scored best of all teams here, so that's something.

Yes! Great effort from Gesink to take the maglia rosa which was what I hoped would happen but absolutely wasn't an easy task. Really happy that a decent daily form happened to strike right when it was most needed. Now to hopefully make the most of this leader jersey boost, it's pretty convenient that a few pancakes and a hard non-MTF are ahead.
Thanks for the thrilling report roturn!

I'm just gonna pretend that there was no TT as usual. Thanks for the rest day report.

I try to build my squads in a way that we can grab those much needed points there too so i'm glad whenever that plan works out
Really hoping that Vosekalns will join the action too since otherwise the big time losses by him look really stupid.
Thanks for the congrats everyone.

It's getting very interesting at the top. Congratulations on the win, matt!
But now let's forget about the GC riders It's crunch time for Swift and the sprinters! |

Surely not happy with Vesely in the sprints here. Partly surely has to do with lack of proper leadout but also due to him losing energy in final 300m again and again.
Guess similar disappointments for Howard and even more for Swift, who is not playing his top favourite card here. |
