Underestimated the mountain influence so am a bit disappointed with Skujins' performance. The positive side is that the support team performed well. Siskevicius with a strong performance and joining the break is of course always nice as well
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Nice stage by Boily and the guys again just staying within the abilities so far to garner points though the crashes are a plenty and at some point we will be in one just need to hope it's not a time losing one |

Hehe totally expected something like this to happen in this stage. Nibali revealing himself a good chocie to take here, but doubt that even with 5 minutes he'll resist to Trofimov's comeback.
Nice reports danny! Weird sprint in stage 3 but those falls are becoming really annoying. Gratz Avin and Wacko.

Great effort from Tzortzakis to take a 3rd place after first Vlatos 4th and Koretzky 4th. Three subtop riders doing reasonably well here, and then on the very difficult stage 4 Koretzky climbed to 6th overall... We will have to fight to keep that position. Time gaps up in the GC are crazy, and most riders above are simply better riders.
After seeing how this stage went I am very worried about stage 6 so I hope Koretzky can do well on the next stage. Maybe we can try going for a breakaway - We haven't been in a single breakaway so far.

Howard WTF. Vesely great effort and a really decent 5th place. Not really happy with this race so far. As expected nothing from Vakoc here, only chance seems to be a breakaway. Nothing yet.

Damn that's a good performance from Nibbles. Now it's just can he stay away from Trofimov and the rest. Liking the reports danny, Thanks

Izagirre performed extremely poorly again. Maybe he hit the ground and got injured in stage 2? Anyway, very disappointing race so far for me.
Stunning performance of mountain goats Nibali and Machado here, it´d be hard task to steal GC The Shark´s hands for Trofimov or EBH, but you never know. Congrats wacko (and also Avin) and thanks sgdanny for another bunch of reports!

Whoa, two very eventful stages today!
Absolutely rotten luck for Kwiatkowski and Swift. Without that injury the Pole could've done very well in GC here.
And stage 4....such a glorious massacre. Not a great result for us though.
At some point Kangert was with the first 8 in the stage and a minute ahead of guys like Hagen, Bobridge, De Bie and Skujins. But he must've blow himself up, because in the next race overview he was suddenly nowhere to be seen and he finished 18th more than 9 minutes down.
Looking forward to see what else will happen in this very entertaining race. Great job on the quick reporting danny!

Thanks for the report, though I would like to quickly point out that you never said the break was caught, so I assume they were the real winners today You are doing really well though!
Claeys failed on a stage where the mountain stat clearly had way more influence than myself and some others perhaps expected... But Serry climbed into 11th overall! I'm not convinced he can hold on to that, but it does make me feel justified in spending a bit more on his wages.

Crazy time gaps! That was slightly worse than expected from EBH, seeing the stage is after all rated hilly. But it was always a gamble with the mountainous looking stages, especially this one, but also stage 6, and it doesn't look like it will pay off.
A pity he couldn't keep up with the Trofimov group, as that should have seen him in contention for a podium overall. Gaining more than a minute on the Russian seems difficult, and he could very well loose more time, depending on stage 6.
Great though to see Dyrnes really proving himself here. First being in a select group on the first hilly stage, and now sitting well inside the top 20 after such a difficult stage. Hopefully he can keep up, and a top 3 in the youth classification looks doable.
Congratulations, wackojackohighcliffe! Certainly wondered why Nibali was here before the race started, but he really proved that this was an opportunity for the climbers. |

Um, stage 3 was real interesting. How does Farrar go from being at the back of the sprint trains and with no further mention finishes 2nd? That's a little weird, especially considering he isn't that great of a sprinter.
Don't get me wrong, I'll take it.

What? Some serious ride from Nibbles, to create such a gap to the other favourites, it certainly paid off to send a climber here and Wacko can afford that luxury with two great GC riders in the team, congrats mate!
We were invisible, but that was expected. Tanovitchii now should join some break, he is great attacking rider and will gain nothing by sitting in the pack...

Lovely report, now let's wait and see if Trofimov can recover well from this hard stage

Didn't expect it to go quite that well, very very pleased with the win and the time gap. Trofimov still favourite I reckon but I'm hoping that penultimate stage is one for the climbers as well. Wishing I'd sent more team-mates now though. Thanks for the report danny!

Wow, Bongiorno with a monster ride! Seems like I was right about the ratio, but even then he overperformed here looking at his company.
I hope the good GC position makes the AI look after him more carefully the next stages so that he won't drop too far back, the stage 2 time loss was stupid.
About sages 1 and 3...Sütterlin not even close to Qatar form, and I nearly forgot Ciolek was here until I saw the result.

Good stage for eBuddy. Sinkeldam looks set for the KoM jersey now even though Bookwalter isn't too far behind, while Boswell won back a few places in the GC.

Good to see Bobridge trying and scoring a podium result.

Phew, the least mountainious stage is survived. I really don't like that we haven't been in a single breakaway in 15 stages this season iirc...guys, the KoM gives good points as well!

Good to see EBH take the stage, eventhough Koretzky was surprisingly strong. Bobridge also showing himself once again.
Assuming the podium will be difficult, I hope EBH is able to run away with the points jersey as a consolation prize., but he'll need to score decent, and obviously better than Bobridge, on the upcoming stage, which looks somewhat mountainous, just like stage 4. |
