Sky's team is pretty trash by their standards. Konig, Intxausti and Sergio were originally all scheduled.
Considering Landa will lose in TT he needs a strong team, and that team is shit compared to Movistar and Astana. Wouldn't be surprised if he loses Giro due to it - once again.

Yeah, its not as good as Astana's at all and I would rate Movistar's team slightly higher as well. Surprised by the fact that Vasil K isn't starting? Its bad by their standards considering what could have been |

“It has been a pleasure to race alongside Valverde”, he stated. “I’ve always considered that the best cyclist of the world is not that who wins the Tour de France, but the one on top of the world ranking. And he’s been there for a handful of years.
“Because of that, I admire him. Eusebio Unzue thinks my conditions are very similar to his, and that’s a real honour for me”.
Some sources consider Betancur’s admiration of Valverde the key to his transformation. Staff at Movistar are amazed by how fast he has progressed, especially since March, when he moved with his family to a flat close to the team’s service course in Gorraiz, a village near Pamplona, Spain.
Superb article. Music for my ears!

Yeah Sky's team isn't as strong as Astana or Movistar but there is enough support in that squad for Landa to win the race if he is upto the challenge, I think inexperience in leading a team in a GT is what will go against Landa and not team support

Disappointed by the lack of hype for The Best Race In The World. Where are you?!
Fixed
We haven't gone through the usual post-your-top-10 and see how hilariously wrong you were at the end of the race, because of course this is the Giro and nothing you predict ever happens.
1. Nibali
2. Landa
3. Urán
4. Majka
5. Pozzovivo
6. Kruijswijk
7. Zakarin
8. Fuglsang
9. Chaves
10. Firsanov
Points: Modolo
KoM: Pirazzi
I'm going to go with Valverde pulling out from the race and Dumoulin winning the ITT but failing in the mountains. Although Landa is certainly in better form I just think the route suits Nibbles so much better I can't really see where Landa can win back enough time he will definitely lose in the TT and probably lose on stages like Cividale del Friuli unless he goes completely beserk on one of the two big mountain stages (plus as mentioned above he has a weaker team which won't help). Firsanov to pull a Sella in the Dolomites
Also, here's a picture of the Passo Pordoi from Chaves' recon last weekend to cheer us all up:

Someone actually put Firsanov top ten?!
Also have the feeling that Zakarin will do a ''Zella'' just hopefully without the getting caught part.

2. Valverde
3. Nibali
4. Majka
5. Dumoulin
6. Pozzovivo
7. Zakarin
8. Fuglsang
9 Uran Uran
10. Chaves
Colombians are in for a rough year GT-wise, comparing to previous golden seasons.
I'm with stromeon on this subject about most exciting/fun tours. The giro rarely dissapoints. *Cough* Unlike certain other tours *Cough*

Hoping Hesjedal can do something here. I think he'll do something. problem is it always seems to take him until the second or third week to get into form, because he doesn't seem to try in a single goddamn race until the Giro every year. Maybe he should try that. Or maybe he doesn't really care anymore since he already has his Giro win.
I with you this time..intrested to see what Zoidl and Hesjedal can do. Hesjedal is so fun to watch..he is like older Simoni..I always hoped that he will do it again..and be at least podium again. |

1: Mikel Landa, because he did not have to wait on Aru.
2-10: Interested me not, all in top 10 should go after victory.

I always like to lob someone a bit off-piste into the top 10 when I'm doing these sorts of things, and he's in great form (although I don't think he's ever ridden a GT so I have no clue about his ability to last three weeks )
