Awful day for the BoI boys, all dropped back to help Yates, but in vain.

Foliforov not getting dropped isn't surprising, nor is Räim and Antonio actually being dropped...

Zabel with a horrible start here. Definitely too far behind in the early sprint trains, plus Quickstep duo going extraordinary strong right from 3km out. Just a huge team - especially at the moment.

Krieger as 4th is a good result. I though hope he will get at least a podium or a win eventually. Has lost a bit in the end after being in the wind for long.
But it was a nice stage anyway with a yellow train. |

Holy! What a stage from Hayakawa. That was a great effort for him, considering I think he's 5 SPR points lower than the fastest sprinter here.

Nice to see my sprint train working quite well, even with total non-sprinters like Hosek and Vakoc. 3rd place is a nice result.

Great start for Yates, bit less than great for Ewan. But plenty more chances to show themselves

Yap, he's 74 SPR (Zabel 79) iirc, so... Pretty great effort!

Awesome start by Cataford to be 11th overall at the moment with Duchesne dropping back today hopefully he can get in the break tomorrow for BOI and Matte and Cataford can look after the leader for Festina |

Damn. I thought for a second that Coquard squeezed his way into 3rd to get a few bonus seconds. But 5th is a good result here, and both Lecuisinier and Vasyliv stayed in the front group. I have a slight hope that Vasyliv can do something similar to a top 15 here, while he should be easily good enough to get inside the top 10 next season.

Next year will be a tough one. Almost the same starters but all with a level up.
Shame that he retired in real due to not stopping health problems. Was a promising climbing talent. |

True... Just for the fun of it, I have a top 10 GC list here for next season (Hope it's OK SN )
Last name | First name | FL | MO | HI | TT | END | RES | REC | COB | SPR | ACC | FIG | DH | PRL | Morton | Lachlan | 69 | 80 | 74 | 71 | 77 | 76 | 76 | 54 | 57 | 65 | 67 | 68 | 71 | Lecuisinier | Pierre-Henri | 70 | 79 | 73 | 75 | 76 | 78 | 77 | 65 | 67 | 73 | 64 | 70 | 75 | Shikai | Chen | 72 | 78 | 71 | 76 | 74 | 76 | 78 | 55 | 57 | 65 | 59 | 69 | 76 | Kirsch | Alex | 70 | 78 | 74 | 71 | 75 | 73 | 75 | 67 | 68 | 67 | 62 | 62 | 71 | Herklotz | Silvio | 70 | 77 | 73 | 70 | 75 | 76 | 73 | 67 | 68 | 74 | 78 | 75 | 74 | Olivier | Daan | 71 | 77 | 74 | 67 | 74 | 78 | 75 | 59 | 64 | 70 | 70 | 71 | 67 | Galta | Fredrik Strand | 67 | 76 | 70 | 69 | 74 | 75 | 72 | 52 | 63 | 60 | 65 | 69 | 67 | Vasyliv | Yuriy | 70 | 75 | 73 | 70 | 76 | 70 | 73 | 56 | 62 | 66 | 64 | 71 | 70 | Nielsen | Magnus Cort | 71 | 75 | 73 | 70 | 74 | 73 | 72 | 60 | 54 | 70 | 65 | 64 | 70 | Kudus | Merhawi | 67 | 75 | 73 | 64 | 73 | 72 | 73 | 53 | 62 | 71 | 71 | 67 | 64 |
I believe this is the top 10, on paper, starting the race next season. There will be others that can potentially beat their way into the top 10 aswell, as there are some 75 climbers, some 74 with good backup stats, and some powerful hilly guys with a good climb aswell.
Kirsch needs to win this season if he wants to win I think. Shikai can win next season aswell, while it should be between Morton or Lecuisinier

Bad luck for Gabriel Chavanne. First a flat tire stopped him from winning the prologue than the terrible crash on the next stage.
Michel Koch flawless so far, raising expectations.
The rest of the bunch can start attacks from now on. We won't die in anonymity here.

Nice to see Ferreira on the hunt there, and Coutinho fighting for the stage's top10. Highly active first road stage there, which looks good for the rest of the race.

That`s really unlucky for Shikai. The top top favourite probably lost all chances and eventually also being injured.
For me this was a good chance as I feared to lose a bit here. In the end around all opponents except for some seconds to Morton.
Lutsenko though might hurt some managers as he is a decent climber as well.
It was nice to see two "Rothaus" riders in the front group even though both are not in Rothaus colours. I guess Schachmann did ride for Olivier a bit. |

It doesn't matter who, if from our or other team. Het Nieuwsblad / Quickstep tradition allows them to always perform amazingly well
Nice to see Lutsenko win after his effort for Lijke yesterday, Crommy should be happy!
