Hehe strydz mate, you should know better than to take Oleg's twitter trolling serious. Plus, Trek Factory Racing really is all about Cance nowadays so he kinda has a point.
But one the other hand, while it was funny (if you dont support Trek), I think thats what he legit thinks.... |

Especially about what Shonak said here, they had some bad luck with all the money invested in the Schleck brothers, so at the moment Cancellara is the only one holding it all together while they rebuild.

@Malkael and other basque fans: Is Murias Taldea, newly founded in 2015, sorta the new Euskadi?

Also, no Roma Maxima this year due to money issue. Sucks big time, I loved the Strade Bianche/Roma Maxima combo.

That's really annoying,
on the bright side, it may mean a stronger field for strade bianche.

Although technically could be already in new Transfer Season thread I will wait with it
After winning silver medal today in the Aussie U23 RR Alex Edmondson will join Orica Greenedge from 2016. That is their already second confirmed 2016 signing with Jack Haig joining as well.

Brilliant.
When seein him 2nd today, I thought about him joining a big team immediately. So it`s nice to see him getting a contract quite early already. Pretty good talent even though he has to work hard on his endurance I guess. |

That Scotson Miles winning both the u23 rr and itt, both times ahead of Edmondson, is just surprising though
Wouldn't have bet a cent on him, considering his 2014 results and he bunch in those races.

Vuelta route announced.
Vuelta being Vuelta.. no flat point on the stage
Enjoy riders :*
7.4km TTT
40km, almost completely flat TT
All profiles available here: https://www.lavuel....html?e=17
Consensus, a typical Vuelta. Last week looks bit disappointing however. But that could well turn out to be good, who knows.

Not as tough as other Vueltas, but I have never seen a stage like that before in the Vuelta. Damn that one looks good. Also stage 16 looks like it will be fun, could imagine that was a 10% average with a couple of good climbs before even.
Looks fine to me. I dont think either of the 3 GCs looks hard on paper in terms of the mountains which I think is kinda good since they just will postpone the action over and over again if there is a string of 4-5 mountain stages in week |

That sucks so much. I was at the finish line for it last year and it seems like it was a great race throughout. Certainly the finish was intense. You just can't beat Rome as a backdrop.

No Roma Maxima? Well that is a kick in the balls, last year's race was certainly a three quarters of excitement mixed with one quarter of facepalm. Can only hope they can manage to reboot things for 2016, although given the number of races which fail to come back after skipping a year that seems like a long shot.

Presented during BIBE in Bilbao I believe, it is indeed a new Basque based cycling team that aims to replace not only Euskadi but eventually Euskaltel Euskadi in the long term.
Currently sponsored by construction firm Murias, the team is managed by Jon Odriozola and keen to continue the 'Cantera' policy synonymous with the region. From what I have read so far, it seems like the team will be pursuing a race calendar made up of both Spanish and French races in its first year. The team have decided to go with their own identifying colour (green) rather than the previous well known orange of Euskaltel Euskadi, with a team motto of "Illusion and Hope".
Meanwhile, Euskadi are still alive in one form of another, 2015 sees them become an elite U-23 project in partnership with EDP Energia by the looks of it.

Well the Vuelta route was already better than the Tour route as soon as I had seen the profile of that Andorra stage
It's definitely an interesting route (in fact all three this year are quite unusual), while it does retain several Vuelta characteristics, I'm not sure I'd agree with Alak's suggestion that it's a typical route Yes there are 9 uphill finishes (same number as the Tour), there are several of the Vuelta's favourite _____/ stages, and then there's that ridiculous TTT, but there are descent finishes (note the pllural), something notably lacking not just in the Vuelta but all three GTs recently. There's also a flat ITT of a decent length and the last week could prove more interesting should the GC be close than a multitude of huge summit finishes. I like Stage 16 as well, should be a good mountain stage.
For once it seems like a GT that isn't backloaded, with the last summit finish coming on Stage 16. I really like the fact that all the summit finishes are new, and they're mixing it up a bit.
The penultimate stage, by the way, has the wrong profile on the Vuelta site, it should look something like this (taken this image from the CN forum), replacing the _____/ profile of stage 15 which is duplicated there
Conclusion: not quite as good as the Giro, but definitely a lot better than the Tour and indeed last year's Vuelta.

I just went over the Tour-route again and I must say, why do you feel it is so bad? I actually think its pretty decent. I could imagine that you wouldnt like the lack of ITT kms - which I dont either - but apart from that, it looks interesting to me. The experiment of including 'classics' in the first week as went well, so I cant see why you wouldnt do that again. It makes for an interesting first week. I kinda like the TTT at stage 9, I cant remember i have ever seen anything like that. The thing I like about that is the incentive for riders to continue through injuries in the first week, but I can see a potential problem say if a team is 3-4 down there on with a contender. That could cost alot, but so could alotta other things as well.
And I really like the Pyrenees. The first week go around in the mountains arent usually that tough with 3 uphill finishes. First stage is kinda typical without any climbs apart from the last, but its tough and is hardest at the bottom/middle which potentially could make for some very interesting racing. I really like the 2. stage as well, riders who have lost time can gain some time back there from a long distance as he last climb wont make any difference really. The last stage to Beille is kinda lackluster in regards to the climbs before Beille, they could have picked someone else and harder, but meh. Plateau de Beille should be more than enough in itself and its not like its a cakewalk either before.
I like Mende and Gap is always fun. The stage to Pra Loup doesnt seem that hard, but the last kilometres are tough. The next stage is for the break, I dont see anything happening. I could see why you wouldnt like the last 2 stages as we have seen them before, but its still great, short and tough stages which is a great recipe for a good race. Overall I actually like it very much and tbh, the GT with the best route this year imo due to the many climbs as I dont care that much for ITT. |

I think the GT routes will be really interesting this year as well. but I really enjoy with Riis about the tour, especially the first week, which sound very interesting, although I'm picking a Belgian, Gallopin or Gilbert to take the yellow in that first week, but it should really suit Cancellara and Sagan, hope it's as exciting as promised!

Might do a Tour Down Under thread a bit later or somebody else might make this eventually. So will drop this here for the moment.
Ryder Hesjedal (CAN), Nathan Haas (AUS), Lasse Hansen (DEN), Jack Bauer (NZL), Alex Howes (USA), Moreno Moser (ITA) and Davide Villella (ITA).
This is a really interesting squad for the TdU. Lots of nice talents for a course like this. All of them could do pretty well depending on the form of course. Really hope Moser can have a better season than his last. With Garmin he should have a much better role. Villella I guess might become one of this years surprises having a breakthrough season similar to what Wellens did last year imo. So nice to see him with one of my favourite WT teams. |

And of course Jack Bauer is amazing.
Seriously though great team imo, Garmin usually open the season nicely at the TDU.
