why whats he done that you hate him so much as a person?
Just his attitude, I don't know exactly.
Oh, and hate is maybe a bit extreme, more like 'really don't like'

As a side note, I've also been slowly remembering why Valverde came to initially be my "favourite" rider when I started watching cycling. He's been very impressive and entertaining. All that's missing so far is his spectacular third week demise... |

Don't understand the hate for Clentie. The guy's joy to watch!
Exactly
Going from cyclingnews or PCMfocus (new pcmbenelux) to this thread is a 180 degree turnaround. There everyone, like me, loves the return of contador and the return of tempo-change racing up a climb.
But here... Oh well. Vamos Alberto Just to annoy people here even more
I've missed him a lot this year, which has generally speaking been a terribly boring year. I don't like him for his doping but as an attacking rider who is always exciting to watch he just can't be matched.
I think this is already the best GT this year.

The thing with Bertie, I believe, is that he simply was too good. He was unfortunate to win 6 consecutive GTs he took part in, so people tend to dislike him a bit more than other riders But the current Contador's been a joy to watch, agressive and attacking but not so much better and dominating than the others, so he doesn't end the GC competition at the first mountain stage like what happened in last year's Giro.
The last mountain was just great, attacks here and there and Froome cracking I was sure Contador had this one in the bag, with 400m he seemed to be alone by miles, impressive comeback/sprint by Purito and Valverde. Great finish to a great stage. And a great start to the 2nd week of the Vuelta (someone should open a new thread btw ), really looking forward to the next mountains.

thats why there is hate for him here
but compare it the the hate for sky and Contador is jesus christ
Lolololol
Contador is a very humble person and absolutely not arrogant. I have never heard him say 1 thing that was remotely arrogant. Unlike Wiggo for instance.
Convicted doper, yeah, but under what circumstances.. I don't believe for a second he took clenbuterol on purpose, and with such a small amount it's hardly effective.
As for chaingate, did Andy Schleck wait for Contador when Fränk Schleck fell down in the Roubaix stage and held up Contador? Causing the latter to lose time?
No. So Andy had it coming.
Go Contador, go break Froomey and next year Wiggo... |

So Degenkolb is the favourite for today. There's a chance Valverde and Rodriguez will be in the mix too. There's also Davis, Bouhanni, Swift, Bennati, Meersman and it should be about time Rojas showed something.
Personally I hope for a good result for Ligthart, seeing as he's in good shape and he's one of the better climbers among sprinters. This finish should suit Boom too, but I'm not sure if he wants to have a go here. |

I think that if there is a stage designed for Rojas, this is it. A tough enough climb to hurt the sprinters but not a tough enough finish for Valverde/Rodriguez (at least IMO).
On another note, apparently Eurosport here isn't showing this stage live.

Going for Meersman today. Might be a harder finish than it actually is. |

I second that. He's shown good form in the Clasica San Sebastian and earlier Vuelta stages. That, plus today's his stage of preference. |

Apart from the "Otra pregunta" business from back in 2009, he hasn't done much to attract the hatred of the fans. |
