Aker in Tirreno? The Matrix is glitched I guess.
Vansevenant with another huge performance. Really cool to see him perform that strong against good riders. And Bax around him till the end.
Valter though with a deserved win, was always up there as well. Congrats ember. Team of the month so far.
The 11s gap could be vital. Just 10km TT and the gap to Pidcock is 45 s. Hopefully this is enough. 1'28 to the others including stronger TT riders should be fine. Has become a much better race than I could have imagined as it`s the first real maxed test for him as leader and Vansevenant did so much better than expected.
Thanks for the report. |

Brilliant, Valter!!! Always extra special to see a big rider claim his first win after being brought to the team, and this is that moment for us and Valter. Huge win, and nice to see him finally get one back on Pidcock after his Portugal dominance
Thank you for the report, UU!
GC wise, I'm not sure what to expect for the final TT. It's short, which might make a top 5 GC possible, but I suspect it will be very difficult. Yates looks difficult to keep behind, and the same goes for Malecki in the next time group, and then there are all the very capable TTers in the group 39 seconds behind Valter. Hoping the TT is short enough to make it possible to keep some of those behind, but we shall see, I guess. |

Geoghegan Hart needs one of his best TT performances here to come away with a good GC result. Thanks to Katrasnik we have a good amount of points already banked so it will be an okay race at the very least.

Solid by Gaudu. Won't be a big race for us, but at least in a position to scramble something out of it.

Annoying little split on this stage that could have been avoided with better positioning but Plapp still looks set for a very solid GC result. Possibly top 10 ish. Baroncini and Konrad might also be able to improve into the top 50. So a lot to fight for in the final TT and this could end up a good enough race.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Close for some bonus seconds there, but not meant to be. Fifth after five stages is quite nice for Higuita, a shame the splits didn't occur in our favour. I guess he'll drop back to 14-th ish after the time trial now, hopefully he has an amazing day and can maybe keep some 70-rated tt-ists that are 20" behind in GC behind him. But that will be hard.
congratulations to ember on the first Valter win, and thank you for the nice report as always, Ulrich!

So annoying to have a split there. And it was Remco who caused it. Could have been s.t. if he hadn't faded so bad in the final meters because he was in the front rows at the start of the sprint.
He looks set for a top 10 at the moment, even maybe a top 5 if he has a really good day tomoorrow.

Well done team.
Was hoping to do well here but never expected this. Aim was top5-10 or something but luckily the stages were played hard with TT riders losing ground and Vansevenant then was even stronger than hoped. Even Pidcock wasnt able to keep up with him. Two stages wins and 2nd on the other hill shows dominance which led to wins in point and youth as well alongside 4th in team and mountains.
Bax and Denz proved to be excellent support as well, in especially in the triple header with limited options.
A bit surprised that the big puncheurs, De Bie or Gidich struggled a bit against all the young guns.
Thanks for the reports and congrats tastasol for the stage win. |

Good to finish off with the stage win. Makes it worth sending Würtz here to some degree at least. Not the race we hoped for otherwise, but new chances will come.
Thanks for the reports!

TGH finishing 6th in the GC is okay, but when you're 1 second off 4th place you can't really be happy about it.
In the end it's Katrasnik that saves this race for us with a 'dominant' performance in the KOM classification. Rajovic with only one decent sprint out of three also not great. But we'll take any points we can get after a slow start to the season. Hopefully we can keep improving.
Thanks to UU for all the fine reporting

Had high hopes here after Portugal and although I think he should have got another stage win I really can't be mad with 2nd, a stage and two classification runner-ups from Pidcock.
I'm sure some of you will be glad to hear that he doesn't have any other one-week hilly stage races in the year (I'm sure Areruya will cope fine in Balkans...) so this run of form might be at an end - ToNE should be good but he could easily be a bit of a no-show in all of the other remaining races. So no idea if the Pidcock project is going to be a success in recouping his wages in total season points, but certainly he is fantastic in this niche and if I can maybe build a better calendar (or more of these races magically appear more like ) for him next year then it could be really awesome.
Congrats roturn on the win, Vansevenant has such a great statline and looked super strong here. Really happy to see him and Pidcock succeeding at the same time after years coming up together - even if it's super annoying to come 2nd in the GC and still be 2nd in the U25 In fact I have to wonder how often that has ever happened? Particularly at PT level as well! One for the MG historians.
Thanks Ulrich for the reports, really really enjoyed them as always

That ended very well for Valter GC wise! Very happy with fourth
Also happy to see this stage race work out well for the puncheurs, with puncheurs winning stages and also claim the GC. Admittedly there is a lot of stage racers with a strong TT high up, but good to see the puncheurs claim it.
Congratulations to tastasol on the stage win, but also to the GC podium managers! |

Remco finishing 5th is quite an amazing result, but missing out on the podium because of those silly 11 seconds from yesterday, it does sting a bit. Kron with a somewhat decent result as well.
Thanks for the reports and congrats to roturn! Hopefully the other Belgian talent soon follow in Vansevenant's footsteps

3rd place overall and a few stage podiums including the double podium in the TTT was nice to see. Even if it didn't matter so much in the end. Yates just about did enough for this race to be a success but Pidcock and Vansevenant were just on another level really.
Congrats to both and tastasol for winning the last stage

Plapp with a fantastic race here. 8th is a great result. That tiny 11s gap on the previous stage costing us two GC positions hurt but this is still a result i would have taken before the race for sure. Always good to see when a planning decision works nicely.
Pidcock and Vansevenant as the big winner is very cool. The next generation is ready to play. Congrats!

Congrats to Grieg on the TT win and to Fastned on a big Vansevenant show here! Maybe it's still good I didn't send Schmid over here, just to be crushed by Mauri
While I'm definitely not happy with Groves' sprint "performances" here, hence the stage results being clearly below expectations, the team did a fantastic job GC-wise. Errazkin mostly was attentive, and not losing these 11" yesterday would just have seen him in 11th instead of 12th. So no Top 10 anyway - he's rock solid, but definitely not the guy who will get bonus seconds. Still a good job!
And GC-wise, I clearly can't blame Groves either! 13th place is very nice, and he really did a great job in the tough uphill finishes to keep up. Still, a stage win on top of that and he'd be Top 10... Guess bad stage luck evens out with good GC luck here.
Küng taking 5th on the final stage was very positive to see as well, although it's uncool he lost all that time in the hills, where he could just have kept up with Groves. But you can't have it all. Then also Delco with a good finish to take 31st, and even Theuns in 43rd getting a good result.
And we'll happily take those 25 points from the team standings as well, looks like it was worth sending two decent TTers here instead of just Küng
Thanks for the reports, and congrats again to those who did well!

Not really much to say for the team as the race was very much just for who had available race days. Alaphillipe sprinting his way to 21st is a nice outing though.
The time trial too short to have any chance of really influencing things, but Vansenevant a worthy overall winner.

A good finish from Skjelmose makes it pretty disappointing that he kept missing splits for no reason. Could have finished similarly or just behind Plapp if he had just ridden a smarter race. We basically get nothing here.
Congrats to roturn and thanks for the reports!

9th, 10th and 19th in GC is a very solid result for us and second in TC a nice bonus.
Riders of Malecki and Aleotti's calibre each need to score around 300 points to call their season a success. This Tirreno, both spent around 12% of their race days to score approximately 25% of their points target. Great job
Congrats roturn! Mauri is a beast
And nice reports as always, UU

Gidich not getting bonus seconds in any of the more challenging stages (twice 4th) is really unfortunate and also makes his final GC result a disappointment. Herregodts unfortunately lost time early on and thus couldn’t really profit from his strong final tt.
Thanks for the reports and congrats roturn! |
