Aker is profiting well from the bad sprint AI.
I wish Kudus would have lost time to Herklotz to give us a better chance of putting TGH at least into 2nd in the TTT.
Congrats Cio, even if you get screwed over by the AI at the end, you'll at least get plenty of points by spending 10+ days in red.

Not a bad stage from Formolo, but I feel he should be doing slightly better in these type of stages. He's up there with the best puncheurs in the hilly classics, but when it comes to stage races he is suddenly struggling with GC guys.

Tim Van Dijke has shown himself well and we are quite happy with how the race has gone so far.
Congrats to the stage winners so far and thanks for the reports Ulrich

Nice to see Sosa active, rewarding himself with a 5th place. Also cool to see Hsu off the front with him late in the stage. Seems like he wants to make up for his poor results so far. |

Breakaways are the only thing we can look forward to in the next stages and given it's early in the race they are unlikely to succeed. Want Vosekalns to mount another KoM challenge but he better waits a few more stages.

Nice reports so far. And cool that Menicucci is so active.

"Carlsberg still look good with 6k to go. But looks can be deceiving they were 37 seconds down at the time check (17th)"
I love the snark here. That's what I read the reports for.
A minute is no big deal in the grand scheme. We were never gonna do very well so we'll just take it in stride and see where that puts us long term.

Sivakov finishing in the first group during stage 5 was really good, unfortunately the team time trial wasn't good at all; losing a lot of time on our rivals.
Imo all teams have beautiful wheels this season!

Well we accomplished the bare minimum for what we came here for and I'm glad we got at least one more goal in the bag.
While the goal is nice, in hindsight it probably isn't worth it. Having the red jersey after the TTT was a pipe dream with Herklotz around and with us pulling every resource into that we have no scoring left until the end of the race. I'm afraid this is going to be a terrible race for the team and outside the great reporting it will be very boring for me to follow.
At least the AI spared us having to see team leaders being dropped halfway like in some other races

We do have beautiful wheels Love that Red & Blue contrast.
Have to be pretty happy with 4th as the best outside of the Top 3 favourites. Wellens only really losing a bit of time to Latour while gaining bits on others. Continuing his climb as he moves into 6th.
Congrats to Red on the stage win!

We had no ambitions or fears whatsoever for this TTT, as injuries aren't a thing to be afraid of here
With Van Poucke, Roman and Preidler now at 3 minutes or more of the race lead, I hope one of them, ideally two or all, are given the nod to join breakaways and fight for KoM points.
Congratulations on the win, redordead! Definitely quite dominant for a TTT. |

Overall a solid position for our abilities, but it does sting not only to just equal Moser's time, but actually lose 3 seconds on Kudus because Herklotz finished last of our squad...
Definitely hoped for a bit more than that, but ideally this race won't come down to single-digit seconds anyway and we are still in the lead.
The next three stages are all potential win opportunities for Silvio, with the caveat that the two downhill finishes might benefit a breakaway significantly.
I'm not sure it'll be recognized that those final 10-15km will not see any gains on a breakaway and the chasing strategy thus has to be adapted to make the catch on the final hilltop at the latest.
If that happens though, leader positioning towards the front of the (potentially still big) group contesting those sprints should be to our advantage.

Wonderful team effort followed by a great attack from Formolo. But somehow it all came down to nothing, not even a stage podium. Can't believe they lost 46 seconds on that descent.
Would have been amazing to snatch a stage win or some time back in the GC. Still, this looks very promising for the next stages.

A lost opportunity for Herklotz, there is ZERO reason to not be in a full sprint under the kite like everyone else and take some more (ranking) points.
But, Arnaud finally won! Very happy about that.
Tomorrow looks deceptively hard, definitely a stage where you can get caught in splits with all the up and down.
The finale suits Herklotz very well, but surely the day is not hard enough to distance Demare. It might not be as clear-cut as on stage 5, we do need to do better than today though.

Dammit Aranburu. I understand sitting on a bit with Formolo needing to stretch that out for GC time as much as possible, but to just let the gap evaporate completely in such a short time period is inexcusable. When they crested the hill with that much time, I really thought they were gonna go all the way.
These are the stages Aranburu is here for, and so appreciate that he's attentive and aggressive. But then you gotta actually put the effort in to make it stick when it counts.
Congrats to Tryg! Prasad is insane too.

Based on today we are losing 2nd place tomorrow for sure, couldn't keep TGH in a decent position even on a easy hill stage.
