I may need to repeat this: every incline in this game is a MO incline.
HIL can only counter its effects for so long.
It cannot make a sufficient difference on stages filled with 10km climbs that Gilbert would get dropped on halfway through IRL as well, to invoke the most common comparison for the new system. That orange icon in the top right corner is cute but irrelevant.
I don't say it's good. But it's been well-established by now, I remember worrying about this back when Cyanide first introduced the system.
And we intentionally put off moving to that new system, until a bunch of users who claimed to have done a lot of testing told us it was safe to move. Not every has played a ton of PCM 16-18 on here, and the lies spread by users who have definitely screwed us over. If somebody has just said your first paragraph straight up when we were having this debate, there wouldn't be any issue. But because people wanted to assuage our fears and convince us to switch, they didn't let on nearly how clear and extreme of a change it would be.
I am personally quite certain that I voiced my concerns about the DB compatibility in the discussion leading up to the edition change, although I couldn't find a post in a quick search a little while ago.
In the end, I was convinced that the overwhelming support inside the "dev team" was worth more than my personal experiences with the game and the worry about the theoretical effects on the artificial rider types we created.
I didn't and do not have a reason to not trust these people.
Same here.
In stages on PCM 18 I've played, riders like Froome and Barrio still do decently well in hilly stages, but a rider like Vogt struggles more as his MO is just too low. In the end I think these stages the climbs were just too long. A race like LBL would actually suit them much more than this California stage, as pretty much every climb is less than 2km long.
As for the stage, nice that Rolland can keep his KOM lead atleast for another day. Im hoping he or Serry goes on the offensive in the remaining stages so we can take something away from this race.

Shame to miss out on the stage win, but two riders on the stage podium and well up in the KoM is a very good result. Keep it up guys!

Wow, Fåglum Karlsson is doing very well here so far but only 30 seconds down to some better climbers will be hard to keep them behind on the next stage but limit the losses the best he can and then do a good ITT! |

Nobody was able to test with a MG-DB as a MG-DB was not created until just before the started racing, some including me had lots of race "days" but the MG DB is just milions miles away from realistic cycling and I did not see this comming.
As i said everyone seems to agree not to do any fix, so why keep spamming the races discussion with the same story over and over, it is not going to change anything.

I mean, its not exactly 100% to do with the MO stat with the hill debate is it? Bellis with 68MO has still performed well relative to previous seasons so while other riders have struggled with 'lower' mountain stats I dont think its wrecking tbh. I like the new change anyway as these stages are clearly more medium mountain stages rather than hill stages.
If anything, the previous system we had where it was 100%HL no matter what was completely broken

Too bad we didn't enter the breakaway this time, but good that the sprinters got a chance
Congrats valverde321 on the win

Fricking hell. Looks like AKA got blocked hard by a stray leadout there. Not much that can be done. Another wasted stage race for him. When your sprinters aren't able to compete with the top, these opportunities have to be capitalized on. Instead breakaways and positioning have taken that away.

Huge win. Was not expecting a win here at all. I really cant comprehend the luck we are having recently. Even in races with no top favourite we manage to ride consistently picking up stages or secondary jerseys.

Ha ha guys, very funny. I know our whole season has been a prank, we can start it properly again now. The white Areruya gave it away.
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

We went into the race with no GC ambition, and to get away with the KoM is the perfect result!

Another solid preformance by Fåglum Karlsson just pity he lost the white jersey with a few seconds but hopefully he can recover better then Ranaweera and take it back in the ITT even if Ranaweera is as good and even a bit better TTs.
But with a very good TT he can go past Ranaweera and he have a good shot at taking those seconds to Berhane atleast! |

Hehe, didn't even manage to get in the 15-man breakaway, when we had nothing else to fight for. What a ridicilous season we're having |

Told ya Meintjes would like this race
Really sucks for Carlsberg here (again), Warbasse might salvage 9th but one could've expected him to punch above his weight with his GC position going into this.
These reports are amazing cunego, especially with the route indicators ensuring we all stay on top of the action in relation to the profile and distance left.

Pantano did well, joined the break which is what I wanted, but was a day for the GC men, stil 18th overall isn't a disaster, the race didn't suit him that well.
Gratz Fjoekie and thanks Cunego!

Meintjes is really having himself a nice race. Pluchkin as well, as expected. I'm very happy with Amador's performance and it looks like we should be good for 2nd place. About the most I could have expected. Thank you cunego, this has been very fun to follow.

I guess with my luck on previous stages, there was no way Warbasse wasn't going to lose minutes on guys with freaking 75 mountain.
Another one down the drain.

Good move by Costagli. Too bad he didn't help defend Rollands lead in the KOM, but smart move in the end to help him move up in the GC abit. In the end I think he'll stay in 15th, so exactly what I'd wanted. And 2nd in KOM isnt terrible I guess.

I am really impressed with Meintjes
3rd in this field is a really good result in any case and some decent stage results to match make this probably our best race all season. Considering this is Meintjes' 3rd race all season I think we can hopefully forget about any possible relegation fears we may have...
