Gutted for Vanderaerden - if the finish was some meters further then he might have won it. But there are more flat stages to come and maybe he may have a shot. But so far I'm happy with both of my draft picks - they've performed decently.

I like what the team tried there, Aregger going early and Salleh waiting to then use wheels to launch later, Salleh clearly had the speed to get to the front but by the time he launched the his sprint the road was too crowded so he ended up blocked.
The wait for his first home stage win continues.

Good to see Suaza winning, and Konig at least in the following group. Some very competitive sprints, lots of riders in the mix. Interesting to first see Guillen bagging a win, before now Vanoverschelde. Strong race particularly for ENI-MOL so far.

Well I'm officially very confused, with 2 leaders Baltazar decided to push for an 11th place while his leaders loose minutes...
Well I guess it's a return to reality, Hirschlein's result is still fine if he can keep it, but with also Uwi loosing his lead and plenty of places it's a very bad day for us.

That's ok. König on 3rd in the GC and both Hasta and Henttala within points as well.

Phew, I can finally breath again. Was really afraid about Pinot having a super day.
Lovely race for us so far, Suaza have done everything we wished for, so nothing more to say really.
Congrats to the breakaway duo (Seibeb in particular) and thank you tsmoha for the report! |

Good stage for the Vesuvio alumni with Suaza defending first and Konig moving into 3rd. Compal-Merida looks like a good career move for Suaza.

Shame for Hirschlein there, but I love to see Seibeb moving on up with that awesome breakaway ride, stage win and 5th on GC is awesome!

Another stage win!!
This is what we wanted to see from Seibeb! He showed signs in the last Tachira stage that his form was on the up. That was a textbook breakaway win, great kick at the end.
Also 5th in GC is a hell of a bonus

Would have preffered to see a sprint finish here.
Though having Halvorssen in the break it was a nice result anyway. A bit weird my team is sending guys into the break instead of chasing but with 2nd and 8th I can live as well. Coutinho is looking promising with another top5 from the peloton. 4th in the sprinter competition as well and moving up. |

Another meh stage. Staring to get a bit worried that Manninen doesn't sprint more often. Guess/hope the team is focused on König

Meh stage, but we got the points jersey back. Hope we can keep it

Very nice to be in the winning breakaway, though was hoping for slightly more from Vichot in the final kilometers as probably the best rider on paper in that group. He's suddenly positioned himself very well in the points classification however, and can maybe climb a bit more if he's lucky and gets in the breakaway on the last stage as well. Korzh can also climb a bit if it ends in a sprint finish.

Typically Matthews to win the bunch sprints only when there is a breakaway in front.... |

Cool to see Hoelgaard doing what he does best, geting himself in a breakaway and running away with a result. Second place on the Queen stage is surely a nice surprise for Cerveceria, just like the stage win is for Swisslion. Congratulations both!
Suaza dominating and most likely taking the yellow jersey is also a flying start for his Compal team, who was rather low on points per race days before this race, despite winning the season opener. Looking forward to see how the fight for green ends. Guillen taking the jersey would be quite something, especially after Kip's great results in Tachira. |

Thibault riding well with Suaza to keep the gap as is (minus bonus seconds) and extends his gap to this behind. Happy to keep it safe and come away with a 2nd place on GC. Nothing silly lads.
Congrats sutty on the break stage win and thanks for the great report yet again
