Mr Ember must have one hell of a size of cheque book avaiable to him given where his envious eyes are being cast. Colombian cycling pundits are abuzz with thoughts on whether interest in MAL indicates the intention to pair with compatriot Beltran, or whether Eduard after a difficult introductory season in the PT may be deemed surplus to requirments at Aker - MOT as an experiment that didn't quite work out? (!)

@whitejersey: True, but of course I won't be able to sign all the big names listed in the post, due to the laws of FA wages and the wage cap in general. But hopefully I can land a big name or two, as I'm lacking a clear captain after Kristoff's departure.

@SotD: Thank you! Hoping to find him desperate on a boat in The English Channel, trying to make his way to the Northern Sea and further north to Norway. I'll happily pick him up then
@Scorchio: Beltran definitely didn't perform according to what I hoped in 2017, but I also think it will be kind of rude not giving him a second chance, especially with all the new races introduced in the PTHC category, where there seems to be several race profiles that should be interesting for a rider like him. Having said that, it's transfer time, and if a team has a great interest in him and make a bid according to that, we might sell as well. But originally I'm hoping to keep him for another season
@Eden95: Thank you! True, and Lutsenko is indeed one of the most interesting FA out there this season, I feel, due to his age and stats combination. Whoever gets him should be in a great position coming to the hills and classics.

First Signings Of The Season
It has been a very busy first few days of the transfer season for Aker - MOT, as the attentive follower would have seen in both the Free Agents and Deal section. With more than 60 hours done, it's finally time to present the first riders that put pen to paper and will ride for Aker - MOT in 2018.

We're pleased to announce that Trond Hakon Trondsen will be part of Aker - MOT for the upcoming season and hopefully many more. He will develop into a strong leadout rider, and already now he has expressed his love for the Grand Tours. He'll clearly train for them, so that he only gets stronger when other riders fade towards the end, and hopefully the team can one day make use of that, maybe even on the arguably biggest scene there is for sprinters, on the Champs-Elysees.

Takeaki Amezawa will be the first rider from East Asia to ever ride for Aker - MOT. The 23 years old is expected to have a bright future, as he has the backupstats both to become a strong puncheur or climber, or even both. His long-term training plan is yet to be finally decided, but Aker - MOT definitely values riders who can do well on several terrains highly.

Hampus Anderberg was a rider high on Aker - MOT's priority list going into transfers this season. The Swede has already shown glimpses of his potential, and having our former rider Fabian Cancellara as an idol, it's likely he'll look to his idol when deciding on which abilities to focus on, as he has the potential to become a valuable rider both on the cobbles and in the TTs. |

Anderberg is a really nice rider, I wanted to go for him as well but just didn't have the budget to dedicate, good luck with him!
Amezawa also a nice signing with awesome back-ups.

Where Did The Norwegians Go?
Going into the transfer season, the management, directors and owner of our team definitely expected a big rebuild, as owner Kjell Inge Røkke made it clear going into the transfer season that the team had to become more international. Well, we definitely did. A sad result of such a big change compared to previous seasons, is that we've said goodbye to no less than eight Norwegian riders, and also the Belgian Dylan Teuns. Team manager ember had a short comment regarding all the Norwegians leaving.
It's difficult. No question about it. We've raised most of them and followed them closely from when they first stepped into the world of professional cycling, and to see them leave for other teams... I guess it's something you can never be fully prepared for.
It was quite clear from the actions made by the team's management on the early days of the transfer season that the team was low on money going into it. Owner and sponsor, the billionaire Kjell Inge Røkke, stated before transfers he hoped such an approach would encourage the staff to find good deals that could help the team economically and move forward.
From all deals involving Norwegian riders we've been paid in money, with no riders arriving in the same deal. For the departure of Dylan Teuns it was slightly different, as he was part of a trade deal including money, which sees Wawa join us. More on that later. Hopefully such an approach is satisfying for our sponsors. It has been painful, eventhough we've got good deals and good chats with other teams and managers.
The riders that have left the team are:

@Croatia14: Yeah, there was indeed a lot of interest for Teuns, but I figured making him part of that trade deal had to take priority. And thank you! Must say I'm excited for the season to come, having all kinds of new riders, who previously wasn't, neither couldn't be transfer targets.

Carl Fredrik Hagen is a ready we welcome with great pleasure. He's signed to work as a domestique, and we're confident he has what it takes to do just that on the highest level of professional cycling. Eventhough it's unlikely he'll be a threat for a stage win from a breakaway on hilly or mountainous terrain, he definitely packs a sprint on top of his climbing abilities that could see him surprise here and there.

There's no question naming Walsleben only a cobbler is a great injustice. The German powerhouse also knows how to handle a time trial bike, and we hope to make good use of him both on the cobbles and in races where a team time trial is on the menu. We bought him from our friends over at eBuddy, thank you for that, alexkr00! Walsleben is signed as a domestique, which is reflected by his 50k wage.

Could you believe it? For the first time since our very first season back in 2012, we've signed a strong time trialist. Back then it was Gustav Larsson, and we hope Paillot can do similar things to the big Swede. We've brought him in to lead the team in races expected to be dominated by a time trial.
With that, he's looking to lead the team on home turf in Tour of Norway, where we hope to put on a show for the crowd cheering for us. Paillot has all the tools needed to do well in the time trials, and we're very grateful to his former team Valio - DeLaval and their manager Atlantius.

We've got great expectations for Gerald Ciolek, who will be our most profilic sprinter this season, after Alexander Kristoff left us during renewals. We must admit we didn't ever really dare to believe he would sign for a 240k wage, but that clearly tells a lot about his motivation for doing well for us.
He had a strong 2017, eventhough his former manager cio93 might disagree to that, racing for Team Puma - SAP and collecting 398 points for his team in the Pro Tour ranking. We honestly don't expect him to replicate that for us, but we hope 2018 will be another good year for Ciolek, at least going close to last season's results.
That's all for now. We're very, very happy with these signings, just like we were with the previously announced riders. And there will be more, that's the only thing we can guarantee at this point.

I look forward to seeing what Paillot can do for you: I hope he will do great things and I'm happy with the deal that made way for König arrival to Finland.
Ciolek obviously great but even Hagen and Walsleben looks like strong additions.

It has happend a lot for you this transfer season, good bye to a few Norwegian and added some nice riders.
Walsleben was very interesting for me aswell,and of course Andersberg but I had to settle with Tiller instead
Ciolek with acceptable wage for sure. |
