Worst possible outcome though eventually Phinney was going to have a bad day and this just happened to be it the good thing is it came on his weakest terrain so just need him to sparkle on his best now |

Kennaugh couldn't be bothered to sprint, but with a rare win on stage 3 by Sicard it's hard to complain. YELLOW |

A blow for Phinney and the other GC favourites left behind. Great news for Gesink, who suddenly is the favourite for the overall win. Even worse news for Phinney that all three riders in front also are great in a TT. Will be interesting to see how much time Phinney can make up in the TT.
Congratulations, CrueTrue! |

Decent ride for Kudus, who may be able to move up further once we hit the mountains. Apart from that a nice ride from Samwel in the break. |

Abal doesn't like hills, knew that coming in but didn't think it would be that bad.
But at least we got our American leading the KoM points competition, wish it was Newton but I'll settle for Selander I guess.

*Becherovka equipment manager to be fired*
Love that report, great reading!
Nothing really special from Velits, but could be much worse, really special to see Phinney losing time here. Top 10 could be achiavable. Sagan unfortunetely injured, it seems. Vysna is clearly another of my riders loved by AI in this race. Oh and Vesely, WTF! On a hilly stage 20th, wow.

Huge congratulations, cio93! You know, you can talk all you want about relegation fear and a difficult top 10 goal, but truth to be told, Team Puma - SAP are much more of a safe top 5 bet and a serious contender for a podium place. Your great results both here and in the Giro just adds to that, eventhough Nerz took a hit in the Giro.
For our own sake, there should be no excuse for not being in the breakaways on the upcoming stages, which was just underlined by having no riders in the peloton this time. Hopefully Aasvold isn't injured, as he's one of the riders who could potentially do something on the tougher stages, meaning maybe chase some mountain points. |

Congrat cio. Must feel good after several sprints by Ciolek in the last years.
Now on to the more serious stuff. Hopefully Bennett has a better 2nd hill stage and is further up. Then the mountain stage should decide the race as I think afterwards we will know if Phinney even has a chance at all no matter the TT. |

For the love of fucking god!!!
First Bryan Coquard (My best bet for a stage winner) crashes on his best opportunity to get a result.
Then it is evident that 3!!! riders are injured: Vlatos (Top 3 candidate for the TT), Alexis Gougeard (Potential stage 5 attacker) and Nejc Kosic.
And then in the final Bryan Coquard positions himself horribly (perhaps slightly injured), before also my two GC riders, Clement Koretzky and Yuriy Vasyliv decides to drop back and lose two minutes. Also not mentioned that Tom David and Olivier Le Gac dropped...
This is an utter and complete collective and individual collapse. I need some fucking wind under my wings soon.

I agree... I can't understand the fear of relegation and not being in the top 10. My bet is that they are currently in 3rd place. Evonik must be 1st ahead of Becherovka and then we must have Puma and Aker - And then we will probably have Metinvest and Gazelle (once the Giro is over).

Thanks guys, it means a lot to read that assessment from two veterans.
I guess I just abide by my life motto "hope for the best, prepare for the worst, expect nothing" in the MG as well, and I much prefer positive surprises over negative ones even if they're abundant because of low expectations, hence I keep it on the lower end of the mathematically possible spectrum most of the time.
I'm sorry if that is annoying at times, I'd understand if it was. Sometimes even I myself look back at some posts of mine and shake my head.

As much as that stage really screwed some people over, having VDB in the first split is huge for us, up into 6th now and with a TT still to come which should suit him compared to some of the other climbers here.
So close from Vandousellaere. Not bad from a guy who was without a team the season before we joined.
