Very pleased that Gaimon managed to recover with no time lost to the pack- the two Dahlbergs and Magnusson paced him to perfection. No chance tomorrow, though.
Expecting Giaux to do nothing, as usual.

Crazy race with all those crashes but it's fun to read about. Pozzatto on a streak of mishaps but Navardauskas may save it for Ferrero still. Not surprised that Klemme doesn't shit gold, back up stats are terrible after all. Still Kraftwerk are a machine and continue to score. Good run of success by hoyle and nice to see Geschke with a win too.

Disappointed to lose the GC lead on a day where the rivals neutralised themselves and didn't attack. Still got green so maybe some plus points to look at. Target of a high GC finish is still on

Stoenchev making an early bid for "Most Crashes", if he keeps this up it'll be double digits before we are done. Other than that it was just a day for us to survive as we go about stage hunting here. Hopefully the trio can wreck shop with some freedom now.

Congratulations to Paul (Geschke was worth it  ) and Scorchio for the stage wins and thanks to trekbmc for the super reports.
2nd in stage 2 and 5th in stage 3, not Klemme but Korean hill sprinter Park exceeding expectations. Three in the top 15 on stage 2 keep the points rolling in for 'the machine'.
Don't remember this bit in the team talk!
Klemme is also leading out Park
Klemme's main achievement has been to miss all the crashes, what a crashfest. Need him to do something on stage 5 to justify the race days.
Hope Kurth has recovered from his fall for the cobbles stage.

Wow, pace of reporting is impressive, into February already! Means I had all 3 stages to catch up on (as well as some other races), so will provide a resume of thoughts on this race here:
First point of note is that Benelux is WCC's (mandatory required) win goal for the season. You must have one, and given my late entry into pre-season, a very quick set of goals was required to enable access to transfers - not necessarily the best thought out when I would later come to see that 3 or 4 other CT managers had similarly nominated.
Pre-race, we had the versatility of Baeckaert and Naesen to potentially hang on to coat-tails of the specialists in the deciding stages (by the way, Naesen is not quite as good as indicated in the preview - Cob 73, Hill 72 and Acc 68 or something like), and hence secure a decent GC, with Bush to focus on the cobbled stage for a potential podium. Was hoping to crack the top 10 on GC so that the missed goal isn't a complete joke!
Prologue: Meh. Young Colombian future lead-out/TT domestique Puerto Zapata did about par with just outside top 10, but the rest were a bit below par, particularly Bush rolling across the line in the last 10 was pretty disappointing.
Stage 2: Everybody more or less hits the deck, some repeatedly. Major time loss for all riders apart from Clifford bringing in a little Goodnews achieving the feat of staying upright by getting in the break (image perhaps suggests he is the instigator?). Caught, but nice to see him fullfilling his intended role and picks up some KoM points along the way.
Stage 3: Oh bugger, more crashes and looks like at least 3 if not more riders potentially injured (we top and tail todays stage, but pack the back-group rather than the front. Our Morocan TT champ at least makes the break, then destiny takes over as Goodnews takes to heart his managers pre-season urgings to be in every break going, and beetles across to keep his fellow African mate company. After that what can you say, the team car spent the day stuck at the back nursing riders to the finish, while Goodnews rips up the road. First victory for WCC very welcome, particuarly given the crash-fest engulfing the rest of the squad. Now holds yellow and KoM jersey. With his team-mates all queued up for x-rays at the local hospital, we'll have to see if he has the benefit of what in normal circumstances would be good support for stage 4. Even if he somehow survives that, expecting stage 5 to prove very tough and the main puncheurs gain lots of time. Whatever the case, at least we have a stage in the bag  .
Thanks for reporting and the various messages of support for Mr. Clifford. Hopefully he can prove as much of a character across the season.

Sad to see Clifford get away as we all seemed strong. Gratz to Scorhio and Clifford as that's a good win. Not a good stage as no real GC gaps either, Lloyd 2nd is good though.

The break has 90km left and a 7’30 lead now, the last 4 climbs have gone to [img]pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/spb.png[/img] Karwowski
Thought we would atleast get something good out of this race, but it doesn't look like Karwowski got any points anyway... I would've thought that winning 4 out 8 KOM's on the stage would've atleast got you into top 10, but it might just be a typo from trekbmc.
Anyway, this race is nothing like we hoped for...

Sorry, some confusingly bad grammar there from me  meant to say that he won the first of the last 4 KOM sprints, fixed it in the report now.

Yep, this is one intense race for sure, gotta love CT level racing resembling so closely IRL CT races.
The fact these 2 pretty much unknown chaps are leading the GC is going to make it all more exciting for Stage 5, considering they can actually make it - Konwa is a 70 hill - if they don't suck too much uphill; their gap is pretty decent too.
Hugentobler is pretty consistent as it is, and might be the favourite for the overall win as it stands.
