Then offering a puff to Nairo Quintana. Who must have thought about it for a while, since he didn't hand it back for instantly. |

ITV earlier were live before Eurosport, so I tuned in.
'Let's get out of the neutralized section so that the real racing can begin'.
That was my big commentary laugh of the year, this guy knows that the real racing doesn't begin for like 50km right?

Quick question by the way: Is it up to Quintana to decide which jersey he wants to wear, or is he obliged to wear the polkadots (because it's somehow worthier or something)?

There's an order of precedence
1 - Yellow
2 - Green
3 - Polka Dot
4 - White

Too bad it doesn't work this way.
I thought the people who has lived for generations at big altitude do have permanent benefits from it, is it wrong?
Marginal gains.
If random people (you, me, etc.) go to altitude, we'll first suffer a bit because of a lack of red cells (at least I ), then after a couple of days the body starts adapting by producing more red cells, but come back to sea level and the body will produce less red cells again after a short while (red cells die on their own after a couple of day, so there's a constant replacement).
The longer you stay, the more time it takes to the body to understand there's been a change, so the longer the benefits. But apparently 3 weeks would be the maximum length for re-adaptation.
People who've lived in altitude or whose ancestors have lived in altitude for long keep the benefits for a longer time, but even when it comes to a guy like Quintana, he probably owes his good third week to talent and work (and whatever else), rather than climbing a 3 000 m mountain every day in his youth, or living at that altitude for years. |

Polka dot takes higher precedence. It goes yellow >green > polka > white

You could have added that between 3 and 4 go the national or world champion jerseys. |

Talansky didn't win white though, so why is he in the picture? Not that I have a problem with it.
And Sagan. First he tries to grow a beard, then he dies it green.

White takes precedent over national Jerseys. Kwiatowski wore white when he was in white and the national when he wasnt. They look almost the same, but there is a slight difference and he definately wore the white jersey rather then national one when he was leading. |
