Than I would say Fuglsang and Coppel, both are still pretty young and maybe they have also some potential left!

Looking not only at Cl and TT, but also at Sta, Rec and Res: Coppel is weaker than the other 2 there, so I'd say Fuglsang and Larsson.

Thanks again for the advices. I've made my decision, and the two we've chosen to target are Fuglsang and Coppel, mainly because they're a lot younger than Larsson. Let's hope they accept our offer.

Stage 14
Saint-Gaudens - Plateau de Beille
i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_14.png

The final day in the Pyrenees provides an on the paper awesome looking stage. Six categorized climbs, with the last of those being the finishing one, leading all the way up to the line on Plateau de Beille. Historically, the rider who has won atop it has also went on to win the Tour. It'll be interesting to see whether that trend continues or not.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_14_1.jpg

Huguet needed a day off after all his breakaways, so Bonnin joined today's group in his place. The others in the group were Chavanel (Quickstep), Mosquera (Vacansoleil), Caruso (Liquigas), Bookwalter (BMC) and Szeghalmi (Lampre).

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_14_2.png

A bit later into the stage, a very dangerous trio set off in pursuit after the early escapees. The names were Vanendert (OmegaPharma), Wiggins (Sky) and Velits (HTC).

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_14_3.jpg

They caught the early breakaway up the Agnès, and soon dropped all of them, bar Bonnin and another late upcomer, Christophe Kern (Europcar), forming a five man leading group going down towards the foot of the Beille.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_14_4.jpg

The peloton kept their advantage reasonable though, since Leopard and Radioshack saw GC 11th Vanendert as a big threat to their team leaders. Still not a small gap though, and maintained at around four minutes.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_14_5.jpg

Already at the first slopes of the final climb, Wiggins and Velits dropped the other three and went off by themselves. The Sky rider was clearly interested in keeping the pace high, doing all he could to gain back yesterday's losses.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_14_6.jpg

The peloton started the Plateau about three minutes later. Therefore still a good chance for the leading duo, especially considering the pace dropped slightly after Vanendert was detached from the front group.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_14_7.jpg

After a Leopard controlled climb, Spanish champion Joaquim Rodriguez opened up the fireworks with a punchy attack as we passed under the five kilometres to go banner. Voeckler, Evans and Van den Broeck covered immediately, while Andy stayed cool behind his brother Frank.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_14_8.jpg

Franky once again did a great job closing down the attacks, but once he did, Igor Anton set off instead on the other side of the road. That move had another level of power, and the Spaniard quickly created a small gap.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_14_9.jpg

Not for long though, as Schleck realised the danger and countered the move together with a very surprising Kessiakoff. That acceleration also shut down Wiggins and Velits after closing a minutes gap in less than a kilometer.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_14_10.jpg

Those three entered the final kilometer together, ready to fight it out for a stage win. Anton made the first jump, powering into an early lead on the far right side, while Schleck and Kessiakoff kept their line on the other side.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_14_11.png

Anton was too strong for them both though, and the Euskaltel man could raise his arms up in the air celebrating a prestigious stage win. Kessiakoff proved to have a little bit more left than Schleck and took second just behind Anton, while Andy crossed the line smiling, knowing that he'd extended his overall lead.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_14_12.jpg

Gesink and Klöden came in next, losing just under half a minute to the front trio. An unnecessary loss for Klöden, who missed the split because of bad focus rather than not enough strength. The big favourite group lost even more time, finishing a bit behind Gesink and Klöden.

He's Swedish, so I'm not. He's just naturally awesome. Pfft

But actually, it isn't very surprising. He has developed a lot this season and is now 82 Mo. That's the reason. Wink

Good news, Joost Posthuma, Jos Van Emden and Gediminas Bagdonas has accepted the contracts we offered them and will represent us in the next three years. This means we've strengthened our timetrialling a lot, and we'll now be competitive also there.

Some magnificent signings, the team keeps on growing and with these new cyclists it will be still stronger the next year.

Luck for the next stage!

Great transfers Wink Realistic, add to your team and very wise too.

Good stage that was, Schleck looking better and better though, it might be annihilation in Alps by him. Löfkvist keeping strong Smile

Thank god, for a moment I thought the last of those wasn't the first Pfft I get what you intended to mean though.

Well Kloden could have lost the Tour with this half minute, but let's see how they'll go for the last week, but it's hard to not see Andy winning this. And damn that Kessiakoff, he's stolen the KoM jersey!

@ tmobile: Thanks man. We're definitely getting stronger and stronger.

@ Alakagom: Nice to hear that you like them. I also think they're pretty realistic, so it's good to see that it's not just me. Pfft

@ lluuiiggii: Lucky you getting that explained in such a brilliant way. Pfft Klöden definitely threw away important seconds there. I don't think Andy is complaining though. Wink

@alexanderlens: Can just agree. I'm very happy with them.

Stage 15
Limoux - Montpellier
i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_15.png

Day fifteen is the second last chance for the sprinters to show their speed in the final. After today, we've only got Champs-Elysèes left for the sprinters. That should secure us a dramatic finish today, with all the sprinters desperately trying to get themselves a stage win. Kittel maybe above all, because he's not coming to the start tomorrow.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_15_1.jpg

A huge breakaway today with many teams represented. Of course a Skil rider in there, Hupond today. Other prominent names in the group were Vaugrenard (FDJ), Westra (Vacansoleil) and Petacchi (Lampre), who has decided to go for a breakaway win after failing to deliver a single top 10 in the mass sprints.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_15_2.jpg

However, with this being the second last opportunity for the sprinters, the break had zero chance today, and not even a final attempt from Hupond and Zingle (Cofidis) could stop the sprinter teams from bringing it all back together with ten k to go.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_15_3.jpg

Garmin and HTC were in complete control as usual, while we managed to set up our small train in a good position as well. If we want a mass sprint stage win out of this Tour, then this was the last chance, which a highly motivated Kittel was fully aware of.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_15_4.jpg

Curvers timed his move forward to perfection and hit the front at just the right time, giving VH and Kittel the same starting position as Goss and Hushovd.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_15_5.jpg

Van Hummel surprised the other teams a bit by launching quite early, creating a small gap back to the others. Kittel were glued onto his team mate's wheel, trying to stay out of the wind. A better leadout than this is hard to get.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_15_6.jpg

Kittel jumped around VH just under the Flamme Rouge, at the same time as Juan José Haedo (Saxobank) had closed the gap. Steegmans (Quickstep), Hushovd (Garmin), Vaitkus (Astana) and Dumoulin (Cofidis) were all coming from behind now, but Kittel was still a bit ahead.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_15_7.png

No luck today either though, because out of nowhere came Matthew Goss with a totally insane speed, overtaking Kittel in the last metres and stealing the stage win. Bitter-sweet taste on today's stage, after coming so close. Well, Kittel ended his Tour in a good way at least.

Thanks. Here's already the next report. Tomorrow we start the Alps.

pcmdaily.com/images/flags/FR.png 19.07.2011: Tour de France

Stage 16
Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux - Gap
i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_16.png

Not an extremely hard day, but still enough to maybe shake up the GC a little bit before the real mountains tomorrow. As we saw in real life, this stage can turn into a nightmare if you don't like twisty descents. Just ask Andy. I doubt we will see that kind of awesome stage in PCM though.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_16_1.jpg

Only two riders in the breakaway, and two riders who've both been very active in this Tour: Thomas Bonnin and Zdenek Stybar. They cooperated perfectly but still didn't build up any advantage at all, leading by a maximum of three minutes.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_16_2.jpg

Some kilometres after the intermediate sprint, they got company from Nicolas Roche (AG2R), strengthening the group a lot. Unfortunately for us, Roche's presence also deleted all chances of a possible stage win for Bonnin, seeing the Irishman would drop him like nothing up the Rochettte.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_16_3.jpg

Just as I expected, Roche was alone in front almost immediately at the beginning of the Rochette climb. Still pretty much no chance for a stage win for him anyway, since the peloton were just a minute behind as they started the climb.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_16_4.jpg

Speaking of the peloton, it was the usual teams setting the pace in it: Leopard and Radioshack, both trying to give their captains Schleck and Klöden a nice trip to the top. No brutal pace, but enough to slowly reduce the gap up to Roche.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_16_5.jpg

The AG2R rider fought well though, and was still ahead with a kilometer to the top. That's where Joaquim Rodriguez decided to close the gap himself with a little attack. No response from the other favourites.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_16_6.jpg

At the top of the climb, Jurgen Van den Broeck also made the junction, forming a front trio together with Rodriguez and Roche, leading the peloton by around half a minute.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_16_7.jpg

It was game over for those three as well with just three kilometres to go, as the reduced field caught them. Therefore the stage was set to end up in a sprint between the ~50 riders in the group.

i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h416/vNibali/skilshimano/tdf_16_8.png

In the sprint Cadel Evans showed that experience can be quite important by overtaking Rodriguez, who launched way too early, in the last metres of the stage. Van den Broeck also held on for a podium place, scoring his first WorldTour points in the whole season. Maybe this can give Evans the confidence he needs to come back into the overall battle again?
