Ahhhhh, fuck that, had the feeling this was going to be a perfect one but it wasn't AT ALL
Now TMM is running away and I'm not sure if I'll be able to catch him
Amstel was a rookie error.

Ooohh I'll have some fun with this round...
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Bugger, knew I was running out of time to get in my round 4 answers after a few days away, didn't think I'd missed the deadline
Not that I would've done better than mid-field, anyway (AG2R, Le Coq Sportif, Eneco, Sky, Tinkoff - Saxo)

Round 5 - Random Thoughts
1) Name a Currency
It's all over the news at the moment it was only ever going to be the Euro, sweeping up 9 points! The US Dollar is as weak as ever getting 4 points. Surprisingly the GB Pound only gets 1. And Dogecoin gets 1 points as well, makes me happy!
Spoiler Euro x9
USD x4
GBP x1
Dogecoin x1
2) Name a U.S. State
It's definately got the highest spend on advertising and clearly it's working, California comes home with 6 points. Big and brash, Texas still get's 5 points. Washington gets 2 points. New York only gets 1 point, alongside South Carolina.
Spoiler California x6
Texas x5
Washington x2
New York x1
South Carolina x1
3) Name a Planet that isn't Earth
The answer is Mars, 13 points. Mercury get's 1 and 47 Ursae Majoris d gets 1.
Spoiler Mars x13
Mercury x1
47 UMd x1
4) Name a Compass direction
The answer is North, 13 points again. South gets 1 and South-SouthEast gets 1.
Spoiler North x13
South x1
SSE x1
5) Name a State of matter
Solid comes away on top picking up 9 points. Gas, the most common stat, gets 3 points. Liquid picks up 2 points. jandal7 again blows a clean 5-pointer by being too clever. Quantum Spin Hall State, as far as i understand the concept, is only a theoretical state so i can't class it correct, but nice try.
Spoiler Solid x9
Gas x3
Liquid x2
Quantum Spin Hall State x1
Quite a straight forward round in the end, three people pick up the perfect score of 50! Cycleman123, matt17br and knockout on top. The Hobbit comes strong wit 49 just behind. Overall leader TMM slips in with 46 points. janda7 again gets 5, but again it's not fully correct.

So the Grand Final scores! It's a goddamn tie for 1st place! matt17br and TMM both come away with 178, you couldn't make it up! lakebeach climbs to 3rd place on 162. Marcovdw up to 4th with 150. fjhoekie started strong but slipped away to 5th and 137 by the end. 11th place Cycleman123 breaks 100points.

So i guess i pass it off to matt17br to take over for the next series. So much fun to take it seriously for a change and that final score is incredible. But i'll be going back to 5'ers.

Jandal, you do realise that you could have said plasma.
I doubled 23, my scores:
23, 23, 22, 24. 46.

I did it as an extra means of precaution. Note SSE, 47 UMd (googled) and Dogecoin. Ofc North, Mars and Euro would win, but that doesn't exclude brain farts and other things that could lead to them saying plasma, a very viable option. I took the extra means of getting the 5 and I cocked up. Better safe () than sorry

Semi-decent round for me, I thought for sure pound would be the most popular, and I had California but erased it!

Isn't it utterly pointless going for obscure answers if you have to use google to get them. I thought the whole point of going for 5 points is seeing what answers you know that others wouldn't go for. It is no achievement to be able to google a planet from another solar system, but it (sort of) is if you can name one yourself no one else would have got. |
