Garmin - End of 3rd Season - Continue in PCM11
roturn
I don`t think he can beat the first 2, who looked really strong. And Wiggins will be difficult. Also Martinez and Coppel are coming from behind very closely. So will see, still two mountain top finishes.

Critérium du Dauphiné - Stage 5
Sault - Gap
img830.imageshack.us/img830/2075/pcm0001e.jpg
This stage is harder than the last two. But with the last 40 flat kilometers we don`t expect too many attacks. So we will give it a try with Rojas. There might be other sprinters without bigger problems, too.

img687.imageshack.us/img687/3406/pcm0002k.jpg
Terpstra (Milram), Simon (Saur), Fofonov (Astana) and Van Avermaet (Omega) are in todays group. None of them is very dangerous after the mountain timetrial, but all 4 are great riders for an attack like this.

img202.imageshack.us/img202/5219/pcm0003w.jpg
Especially Sky and Garmin are doing the pace. But the gap is already quite big. Unfortunately Rojas has problem when we set a higher pace on the hills. So it will be very close in the end. Maybe we should have sent Kreder or Pate into the group.

img46.imageshack.us/img46/3503/pcm0004w.jpg
The 4 in front are still working together perfectly. At the moment it seems like they could get the stage win. Bad luck again with breakaways.

img252.imageshack.us/img252/4629/pcm0005.jpg
On the last kilometers Simon is able to get a gap. It looks quite promising for him although we thought he would be the weakest of them on the hills.

img88.imageshack.us/img88/2056/pcm0006x.jpg
Julien Simon takes the next win for France. A big win for Saur-Sojasun. What a shame that we won`t see them in the Tour. Terpstra wins the sprint ahead of Van Avermaet 26s later.

img844.imageshack.us/img844/8724/pcm0007v.jpg
The peloton was bigger than expected in the end. So most sprinters were still there. Dumoulin is once more the strongest ahead of Boonen and Rojas. Good result again by him.

Hahaha, a French rider won..hahahaha..that´s not funny !

Great time trial with Hesjedal, hopefully he can stay there!

Hesjedal has a long way up to the leader, but the gap down to a mediocer position is quite short.

Critérium du Dauphiné - Stage 6
Embrun - St-Francois-Longchamp
img24.imageshack.us/img24/5181/pcm0008s.jpg
This stage is really hard. Climbing over the Galibier, Croix de Fer and finishing on the Monte Saint Francois Longchamp. These mountains aren`t that steep but therefore extremely long. Are Kreuziger and Brajkovic also dominating in the mountains or can other riders like Wiggins or Hesjedal win some time back again. We should also have an eye on Coppel and Di Gregorio as the French riders are very motivated in this race.

img218.imageshack.us/img218/8348/pcm0010d.jpg
Four riders attacked today. Best climber should be Petrov (Katusha). The others are Hansen (HTC), Kireyev (Astana) and Roux (FDJ).

img802.imageshack.us/img802/8236/pcm0011.jpg
On top of the snowy Galibier Petrov takes the 40 points. Roux has already big problems to follow his pace.

img802.imageshack.us/img802/9976/pcm0012.jpg
The three leader teams Liquigas, RadioShack and Sky are doing the pace behind.

img232.imageshack.us/img232/4142/pcm0013xa.jpg
On the second climb Petrov is alone. Nobody else was able to follow.

img69.imageshack.us/img69/3152/pcm0014v.jpg
So he takes the 40 KoM points again. A big step for him winning the jersey.

img718.imageshack.us/img718/1864/pcm0015.jpg
Just about 40 riders are left in the field. Hesjedal, Lowe and Pate are the Garmin riders. Roux is already back there. The other 3 still in front.

img825.imageshack.us/img825/9573/pcm0016z.jpg
Final climb and just the Russian in front, but the favourites are very close now.

img510.imageshack.us/img510/1404/pcm0018.jpg
The four favourites for today in the first line. Kreuziger, Brajkovic, Hesjedal and Wiggins.

img338.imageshack.us/img338/8817/pcm0019.jpg
Di Gregorio is the first attacker. Martinez, Coppel and some other riders try to follow.

img163.imageshack.us/img163/2921/pcm0020o.jpg
Then Kreuziger attacks. Time for the other podium contender to counter.
All contender followed including Hesjedal.

img827.imageshack.us/img827/5460/pcm0021.jpg
Although everything was together on the short descent again Kreuziger is able to hold the others on distance...

img832.imageshack.us/img832/9144/pcm0022.jpg
...and wins solo today. Great effort by him and really deserved.

The other riders passed the line 56s later. Hesjedal had some problems on the final kilometer but he and Monfort got the same time than Martinez ahead of them.
(Was 5s to Martinez, 7s necessary for a new group, so good luck)
Surprisingly Coppel wasn`t the strongest French rider and lost some time today. Di Gregorio was much stronger and finished even ahead of Brajkovic and Wiggins in the sprint.

Nice ride by Hesjedal, but too bad kreuziger took a minute on Brajkovic. I was hoping for him to win like irl =(

tsmoha
Very interesting stage, great ride by Kreuziger and good job, keeping a struggling Hesjedal in second group without losing time! Good luck for upcoming stage.

Thanks. But before the Dauphine continues there is the DELTA Tour Zeeland at the same time. So the reports will be posted alternately.

ticker.live-radsport.ch/thumb_17129_150_Robert_Wagner_schlundaumlgt_zum_Abschluss_der_Delta_Tour_Zeeland_Gesamtsieger_Farrar.jpg
The DELTA Tour Zeeland or "OZ Wielerweekend" until 2007 is an annual 3-day-race in the Netherlands. It was held the first time in 1988 and is always around the region "Zeeuws Vlaanderen". Record champion with two wins is Rick Flens, who won it in 2003 and 2005.
It`s also a promising race for Garmin. In 2008 it was won by Christopher Sutton and one year later by Tyler Farrar. Both were riding for Garmin in this time. Last year we didn`t participate here.

Lars Boom did quite well here last year. He returns this year for our team and will try to win this race. It should suit him very well with a prologue and a cobbled stage. Except of Flecha, Hoste and Hammond they are all participating in 2011 again. So it could be interesting.

Boom is our leader for this race. But also Bobridge and Meyer could get nice results here if they pass the cobbles without bigger problems.

Favouites

*** Boom
** Roelandts, Barredo
* Cornu, Fothen, Van Emden

Boom is the strongest prologue rider, but Roelandts might be able to get some time bonifications in the sprints, so it might become an interesting race. All other favourites are the good prologue riders and cobbles specialists.

DELTA Tour Zeeland - Stage 1
Hulst - Hulst
img530.imageshack.us/img530/5772/pcm0025.jpg
We start with a very short 2,7km prologue in Hulst. Biggest favourite is Lars Boom.

img529.imageshack.us/img529/7669/pcm0027.jpg
Fothen with a new best time beating Cameron Meyer.
3'37

img337.imageshack.us/img337/2653/pcm0028.jpg
Bobridge was still a bit faster than the German. Nice time for him.
3'31

img571.imageshack.us/img571/299/pcm0029.jpg
Frantisek Rabon, winner in Luxembourg is also a bet for this race. But his time wasn`t very well.
3'53

img87.imageshack.us/img87/6402/pcm0030p.jpg
Cornu is one of the best prologue riders here. He got the same time than Bobridge but overtakes him by a few milliseconds.
3'31

img208.imageshack.us/img208/5052/pcm0031.jpg
This is Boom`s next goal. Winning the Dutch timetrial championship. But at the moment it`s Van Emden wearing this jersey. But he also lost seconds today and is still behind Meyer and a surprisingly strong Peterson, who isn`t a prologue rider at all. (PRL 63)
3'42

img703.imageshack.us/img703/8072/pcm0032.jpg
Barredo with a very good ride. Just 2s behind Bobridge.
3'33

img689.imageshack.us/img689/1424/pcm0033a.jpg
Lars Boom is the favourite today and he really wins it by 3s.
3'28

Luckily Boom stopped a series of almost 2 months without any victory. Hope we don`t have to wait again for that long.
It could be an interesting race now with Roelandts just 11s back and 20s bonus seconds on flat stages.
Great ride by all 6 Garmin riders, which are all in the top 14.

Great start with Boom! I really like these screenshots from the prologue

Thanks.
For some reason Bobridge and Rabon weren`t shown before. So I fixed this.
Actually I cheated a bit. Boom`s screenshot is from Luxembourg as I missed to make a picture. Also I am not even sure if this is Boom Grin
The other pictures are from Zeeland prologue.

The Tour de Suisse is the biggest cycling race in Switzerland. It`s a 9-day-race with normally one prologue and another ITT, some mountain stages and some flat stages. So it`s a perfect preparation for the Tour. This is one reason for the very strong field here year for year.
It was first held in 1933. The record winner is the Italian Pasquale Fornara with 4 wins.

Our best rider in 2010 was Ryder Hesjedal on 14. Unfortunately the time gaps were really small and so the better timetrialists were in the top 10.

We have to see how good Sanchez can perform here. He isn`t in a great shape, but the mountain stages aren`t that hard, so let`s hope he can stay there in the first groups and be better in the final ITT. He will be supported by Danielson and Zabriskie in the mountains.
Farrar will be our man for the flat stages and the prologue. With Fischer and Maaskant he has great supporting riders. Maybe we can even get the yellow jersey after the first stages.
To remember. One sponsor goal is to finish in the top 10 here. It should be possible but the starting field is really popular.

*** A.Schleck, T.Martin, Menchov
** F.Schleck, LL.Sanchez, Karpets, Gesink
* Anton, Cobo Acebo, Lövkvist, Van den Broeck, Rogers

Of course Contador is the favourite. Samu Sanchez and especially Nibali will be big contenders. The Schleck brother`s will have problems without a mountain top finish and the timetrial, so T.Martin is also a big favourite. But his season was already very long, not sure if he still has the form.

So there are 3 parallel races now. Will change between them with the reports. Just two more stages in Zeeland and Dauphine each.

Porte
Nice result with Boom and also Bobridge. Grin

Good luck with Sanchez in Switzerland and Hesjedal in France.

FreitasPCM
Nice win with Boom.
At the Dauphiné it'll be very hard to win with Kreuziger being in such a great shape.
And in Suisse I'll have to say good luck. LLS is a rider to finish in the top 10. Pfft

Thanks. No wins in Giro and California, last year I had 3 there. So it took quite long until I was able to celebrate again Grin

Tour de Suisse - Stage 1
Porrentruy - Porrentruy
img602.imageshack.us/img602/6563/pcm0002.jpg
The TdS starts with a short 4km prologue in Porrentruy. The starting field is very strong and so lots of great climbers and timetrialists are participating here. Biggest favourites today are Cancellara, Martin and Contador. But in prologues also Farrar, Hushovd and Hagen have good chances.
Another Suisse hope for today is Marcel Wyss of the Suisse Cervelo Test Team. He is always good for top results in this kind of stages.

img696.imageshack.us/img696/7620/pcm0004r.jpg
Our best prologue rider Farrar starts quite early. The best time hold Wyss at the moment. But Farrar beats it by 3s. But how good is his time really?
5'33

img406.imageshack.us/img406/3596/pcm0005i.jpg
Hagen won the prologue in the Giro. But obviously he could need a rest. He lost 25s on just 4km.
5'58

img545.imageshack.us/img545/3032/pcm0006.jpg
Cancellara is the big favourite but his shape could be better it seems. Not the best time for him.
5'42

img156.imageshack.us/img156/5750/pcm0007o.jpg
Hushovd had some nice results so far, but he wasn`t nominated or failed in his favourite races. Last year he dominated the sprints in the Vuelta but since he changed teams he couldn`t live up to his earlier successes.
5'39

Surprisingly Tom Danielson had a great time. Although he had a -5 daily form he was just 1s slower than Farrar. Great ride by him.
5'34

img257.imageshack.us/img257/1092/pcm0008t.jpg
Sanchez with the same time than Cancellara isn`t that bad if you think of his fitness. (68). His main goal is the Vuelta this season.
5'42

img703.imageshack.us/img703/7236/pcm0009.jpg
Tony Martin beats Danielson by some milliseconds but can`t beat Farrar. The US American is waiting quite long for a better time now.

Nibali dominated the Giro but is he still in that great form? His time is quite good for him. 5th with 4s back.

Contador is also not able to beat Farrar. Same time than Nibali. That could be an interesting fight for the overall.

So Martin, Nibali, Contador and S.Sanchez seem to be the the strogner favourites while other riders already lost a lot.
For Garmin it`s a great result, Victory for Farrar and an unexpected podium with Danielson.
So Garmin can win again.BananaBananaBanana

Fantastic prologue! Congrats..

janne_837
Great victory! Farrar performs well and I am sure that he will win again at one of the flat stages Wink

roturn
Thanks. Another win could be possible.
Tour de Suisse: Best climbers
Dauphine: Best sprinters
It really looks a bit like this, so Farrar could have good chances.
Not sure if I can finish the Dauphine before X-Mas.
So there might be a story break then until New Year as I am not at home and just with my netbook I could maximum play CYM4 Wink
Also there are more important things than playing, especially over these days.

So maybe 1-2 reports later today and then after X-Mas or New Year, not sure when I am going to be home again.

roturn
Had no time to play or report.
So this story will take a break until 2011.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year!!!

I will be online sometimes, but not in this story for the next week
