Congrats to mafia, I think a never endangered win for you.

Some thoughts from an outside pov:

- It was interesting to follow the game, especially the whole quadsas tactics and discussions. The town should probably have more ignored the tone of his posts and have a deeper look at the reactions (or non-reactions) to him, because I think the mafia mostly hid away and let the town do all the dirty work.

- quadsas may have been a pain in the ass for his tone, but he definitely would have been a valuable town member for he went against nearly everyone (while most players agreed he was town), probably making it harder for the mafia to hide. Lynching him was a bad idea at least.

- The town getting quiet (especially in the latter days) already was a bad sign for lynching the wrong one in the last edition. It most probably means the mafia is fine with the lynch votes, which means it is a sign for the need of more discussion and maybe a change of the votes.

- jseadogs detective claim seemed a bit suspicious even before df_treks doctor claim for his certainty about hillis and sammy being cleared although they could have been godfather (and therefore would have been shown pro-town the first time they were checked), I had the feeling the detective would have had this in mind (and posted it).

- TMM trying to slow down the game especially at Day 1 by no-lynching seemed a good idea to me, for the power roles of the town (especially the detective, if he wasn't killed the first night, and the tracker) would have needed more chances to take actions at night. The mafia having the godfather and the framer at hand essentially means the detective would have had to check anyone twice (at least) to be sure of their alignment.

- to the whole mass claim discussion: Though it may be a viable strategy for the town to win, I agree with croatia that it lessens the fun of the game, because it's merely "I am x." "I am y." "I am z." and figuring out who is lying. I find it adds to the fun that especially the non-power-role-townies don't know much and have to figure out what's happening around them without too much reliable information. And though wanting to win is an essential part of making everyone play seriously (and therefore a good and fun game), I prefer the fun over winning at all cost, because in the end it's our spare time (and a pretty lot of it) we invest in this game.

I find it interesting that you agreed with me about your playstyle being passive, even when you've been just a townie I've thought that you sit back more than trying to push hard to find people, when a plain townie should imo look to put enough pressure on the mafia they make themselves a night kill and leave a trail of their thoughts that the rest of the town can pick up on and analyse.

I also find it funny that I mentioned mind games in one of my longer posts about who I would save if I was the doctor and you didn't go for df_trek on the final night because of the threat of him being a neighbour making a claim on someone else's behalf.

Btw if your theory was correct about doctor/neighbour my posts wouldn't have sounded supportive of you after your claim, I'd have questioned you harder/ given df_trek the information to do so for me.

I picked out a line of yours that foreshadowed your claim that was possibly the best line used in the game and makes you my player of the game, even if I almost had you caught until that point, and you should have been able to tell from me arguing with df_trek at the end after your claim that we weren't neighbours as it was effectively wasting the town's time.

I thought to claim doc role just in case the situation was going to a very bad point, unfortunately I somehow missed a vote on BBL during the last day count, so I was to late for it.

I think that the theme of claiming roles was the point of this game and we spent too much on him, diverting by the real goal of the town.

notes on things some people said:

marco died cause I wasn't letting myself die, there's 0 info to go on and he his reasoning was the weakest so I picked him.

someone said mass claiming works in ToS, but not here, I strongly disagree, mass claim would've ended up in almost guaranteed town win, but to be fair I only asked for detective to come out, cause counter claiming that would've been way too difficult. when I saw the rolelist I looked like a free win if most people claim. I'd say it's actually more effective than in ToS because you can get rid of someone Day 1.

And people started claiming on Day 3, when it was way too late. I know it sucks to die and noones wants to die early, but sometimes you just gotta take one for the team

First off, congratz to the Mafia!

Im glad i read TMM right, however i should've been more open to df_trek then i was.
Also, im a bit angry that i stuck to my theory on quadsas being a mafia frontier. Sorry about that quadsas.

This game is a good time everytime.

I think it's hardly fair to compare Town of Salem with forum mafia. Town of Salem has a lot of important power roles, as almost every role (except sometimes medium and occasionally some TI roles) has an important so you have to worry less about mafia destroying all your important roles in one or two nights.

Also, you have much less time in TOS, if you only have a minute to make a judgement on somebody, basing your decision purely on whether they have made a claim and the quality and delivery of that claim is the most effective way to figure out who is evil and who isn't. This differs a lot from having hours to judge people on long posts which they have considered thoroughly.

Not saying your strategy is bad, I'd like to see it play out tbh to see if it would've been effective or if the mafia could've exploited it. However, I do think it's not quite accurate to compare two games that while similar at face value are actually very different in terms of effective strategies and the best play.

Also, is it just me or would it be so awesome to have a Daily game of Town of Salem?

yes, mafia games are a lot of easier to win if you just claim, it's not ToS, it's a lot simpler and requires much less information
