Oh man. When Vlatos didn’t even get a mention as a pre Stage favorite I kinda knew how it would pan out. Good thing he performed all season because he does tap out regularly too…

Pains me to see how Polanc is treated worse than a punching bag here. Better completely ignore the cobbler who can climb and tt decently in this race which totally does not fit to riders of that type.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Stage 4: Sooooooo disappointed, I guess the cobble curse continues until the end of the season -> 82 cobblers finishing outside the top100 ...

Was away for a wedding last couple days, so need to catch up again.
Stage 1 was already a huge disappointment seeing the amount of time lost in a TTT when I actually expected it to be a decent squad.
Stage 3 was fine then. Stage win on a stage suiting. Unfortunately no real time gaps though.
The cobbled stage then was awful. No idea why all the cobbled squad apparently waited for De Bie, when he is in no GC position...it`s really frustrating sometimes to see things like this, which already happened in Cheshire with my squad.
Can only hope for another big stage from De Bie later on for stage points as GC wise this must be the worst TONE from me when the squad actually should be decent with former Top10 performer De Bie and Van Hooydonck maxed.
Thanks for the reports and good to see Kung/Cavagna etc. in the mix right now as those are the real specialists here. |

Ouch, that was a prime opportunity for Potts to compensate for our mediocre showing somewhat. But he got a bit overeager it seems.

When your best placed rider is 102nd overall and your team also doesn't bother to go into the breakaways... a very disappointing race for us so far, to say the least.

Brilliant racing from our two ToNE specialists here! Very encouraging for our future plans to have found a great niche for Cavagna, and Ganna will be a big star for us.
Congrats to EA, Wirtgen always looked dangerous in a high GC position after the cobbled stage. I assumed he'd take the lead in the TT already, but one day later will do just fine.

It's been kind of a weird race for us, with Wisniowski losing time on the cobbles and then Würtz with a TT a bit below what we hoped for.
That being said, he's been great on the other stages in this race. As in the Tour of Norway earlier this year, he's really strong in these kind of undulating stages when he have something to fight for. With Würtz heading towards a top 5 and good depth scoring, we're certainly satisfied with how the race looks, so I hope for a stage with no late twists tomorrow (and a Pedersen win )
Thanks for the reports, LLS!

Good to see Kasperkiewicz feeling bad about his performance so far and trying something. Else we have now to riders in the top 30, which is better than nothing. Still much too little with the team I sent here. Thanks for the reports! |

Too bad Koretzky didn’t join the break. It was his chance for a stagewin, KOM and a good pts ranking. Instead he was passive and in the end not strong enough.

I came here with many hopes, but in the end this was just an unbelievable bad race. I hope for next season the route is improved. There are already enough races win which a rider like Wirtgen can win, this shouldn't be one in my opinion.
Thanks for the reports throughout, LLS! |

3 Teams taking up the entire top 10 shows that the racing was not WT worthy. Luckily the reports were, so the race was still great to follow. Next year the TTT influence needs to be massively reduced (and not put at the start), the cobbles need to be harder (and more) again and arguably also the hilly stages. With the cobbled stage races generally not working, I think we need more of a Tour du Faso approach for all the cobbled stage races.

I agree that the ToNE hasn't been a great race the last two editions. The lack of gaps have made the dynamics a bit weird.
That being said, happy to get a good result, even though it wasn't with Wisniowski as our top finished as expected. Great win for Wirtgen and Vesuvio. Congrats!

Agree this needs to be reworked and the TT influence reduced. I think that the AI just doesn't recognize cobbles in GC races so unless we make it entirely cobbled where the difficulty naturally selects them, like Faso, the result is going to be weird as the cobblers won't get GC preference (see Cheshire where there is a very hard cobbled stage but the race isn't run with cobblers as GC favorites). Even in Faso I think you can also see where the sprinters with a little bit of cobbles tend to outperform stronger cobblers because they get leadership preference
We have been experimenting with Benelux but the better solution might be more one day cobbled races where the AI works great.
I think this is another area where the Mangame and real life requirements vary, there aren't many real stage races with hard cobbled stages. Dunkirk and Eneco have some but the cobbles are a consideration rather than the major factor so my guess is Cyanide decided not to worry about it. Also not sure the distinction between a punchy classics rider and a cobbler are as big in real life so you are less likely to get riders who qualify as one but not the other.

Thanks for the report LLS, congrats SN!
Disappointing race in general. A few good stage results but with leaders in all departments that's all you can expect
