As expected really, Van der Poel not participating in the sprints, which is absolutely fine obviously stat wise, just was thinking after a hard stage, he might be in the mix for some minor results as he needed a GT anyway, so sent him here for the harder finishes.
Trying to enter the break was good with the perfect guy in Van der Hoorn, not making it is fine as well on some days.
Must say, the points Kemboi is making in the 2019 GTs is ridicoulous. jph really lucky with him this season and it will be hard to repeat this I guess.
Thanks for the report and congrats to Grosu. Just like Groenewegen a great season so far for him. |

Congratulations, alexkr00! Grosu is class.
Happy to have survived that stage without any drama. All our riders home in s.t. on such a stage is a good stage |

The train suffered quite a bit without Brus there. I think this might have happened due to the hills on the route, but the profile looks very similar to the one of the other sprint stages so we might be in quite some trouble. It looks like we will have to rely on Kump's lead out in most stages
A fantastic sprint by Grosu in the last kilometer to become the first rider that brings a win for the team in all Grand Tours (1 at Giro 2017, 3 at Tour 2018). This also marks our 9th consecutive year (all participation) with at least one stage win in La Vuelta.
Great amount of work put into that report with the speed of everyone involved in the sprint

@Ripley/Alexkr
Thanks for the kind words regarding the km/h system.
It takes a bit of extra work but not as bad as it may seem, I believe it brings a more "live" feeling to what is actually "stationary" moments in time.

Those sprint speeds are a nice addition indeed.
Shame our team doesn't seem interested in the breaks yet. Hope this changes later on.

Congrats Alex! Great win for Grosu.
Happy with our performance today. Could have hoped Vink had been able to get more out of the KoM sprints, but at least a good try. Also very good to see Bertilsson actually doing something in the sprint and a good top 10. Hopefully he can be able to fight in some of the other sprints as well.

Fabulous. We keep the GC for another day and score a podium with Stepniak. Good to see, this alone is worth this little PT adventure

Great to see my guys trying to get in brakes, if they keep trying we could get lucky! Other than that, boring start for my team, as expected :-p

Thank you for another nice report from a sprint, Tamijo!
But I've got to say wow, what a sensationally poor AI That's probably the worst I've seen, going at snail pace up to 1100 meters left in a stage where all sprinters are present. Congratulations to SPAR, making the most out of that mess
Now, fingers crossed we can make the most out of the next three stages. We really need to get that red jersey back to give ourselves a chance at having a good Vuelta. Hopefully Taaramae can also grab at least one, maybe two and ideally three stage wins on the next three stages. Those expectations/hopes could prove to be too high, but this is were we need really need to perform to prove that we deserve another season in the PT. |

The team is really letting Grosu down so far. With a proper lead-out this could have easily been win #2. Oh well, second place is good too.

Fancied the chance of the break initially, but they never really got a huge lead. Still good to see Vink being active and getting some more KoM points.
A weird sprint. For us it was a very good one and 3rd place for Bertilsson is a great result. Quite the contrast to the Giro so far for him.

ffs what is wrong with our team, why can't we just form a normal leadout with Per and Kalaba and then dominate the sprint...

Ya, Vermeltfoort often sat close to the front so must have been dry, but Gerts was never close and still invisible near the end, also a reason for the strange finish.
Isostar worked hard burning up the entire lead-out team,
Gerts was for some reason "never" there
SPAR 's Brändle leading from km 8, but when he swung of (km 3) there was really no leadout left, Per took over but was dead after the pursuit where he was very active.
SPAR leading after Per caved in, decided (cleverly) to make it man v man trying to play the surprise card.

Can't be anything but happy about Martinelli so far, a 5th place is a lot better than I would have thought he'd get the entire GT.
Thanks for the reports Tamijo!

Ya quite absurd that the team used everyone in the pursuit rather than just holding at least one back.
