At least this experiment of Kudus and Alarcon together is just a one-off, but omg that was horrendous.
And as Cio says, those 1-second time gap are quite weird, don't think it was intencional but...
I didn't even know road stages could have one second time gaps in PCM.

Congrats to redordead, great start to your season! Thanks for the reports Abhi as well, the mountain stage was particularly interesting (and strange). I'm very happy with 5th overall from Amador. His participation in the sprint yesterday may have helped bump him over the other finishers in his group.

Well, that's one relegation competitor less, what a win for Beltran!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

While a long range attack on climb 1 or more action there would be nice to see, some late attack like this was expected.
And then due to 1:10 in PCM it obviously doesn`t look as nice as in real but still PCM18 then seems to act better than PCM15 as those last 1-2km results make more sense often as positions change a lot on those while in PCM15 I think it was mainly good position at 1,5km results in high result in the end and so on. So less changes.
Strength wise the result here obviously is rather solid according to the expectations with small surprises.
Time Gaps wise this stage apparently was set to 0 or 1 instead of 4-7 as on most mountain stages I guess. In the end doesn`t play a role anyway on such 2 day flat/mountain combination. |

Three 80+ sprinters attending for that Stage 1. So i predict one rider in the Top15 and the other two no where to be seen, followed by zero breakaway effort on Stage 2 from anyone
I'm a God of prediction!
On a completely related note, what's the lowest number of points a PT team has ever scored? I want to get at least one positive note out of this season
Also I'm already rationing the "wow that was bad", "what was that!" and general bad performance gifs, because boy will I need them a lot if we can't even perform in PTHC events!
Did we try an attack on Stage 2? Hell no! Two for two predictions for this race. At least on this stage i knew we had nothing to offer, no excuse for the poor sprint (and given the number of times i've put Ewan, Ricki and Kek together this season is going to be truly awful)

Still not sure about the AI as yet, more data required!
On the racing front though, a good outing for ISA - Hexacta. 13th GC for Berhane might not sound that exciting, but only 3 PCT riders in front. His points combined with depth from Ji (26th), Khodayari (31st), Koshevoy (34th), Betacourt (48th), couple more 50-100th scorers + 3rd in team classification means just over 100 ranking points if I'm not mistaken. Hence we leave this event with a smile on our faces at a positive outcome - goal was to get the ppRD ticking over, and get 1st glimpse of whether or not our depth approach might pay dividends; this is one where it has.
Thanks for the reporting, and congrats to Swisslion with the partial surprise victory, nice to see an ex-Nutresa rider delivering on his promise!

Also, may I point out these interesting time gaps? Did this stage use the TT format somehow, or was there a deliberate effort to put them as low as possible to avoid the sprint stage playing too big a role in the final GC?
I think no matter whether that was intended or not we should have this more often on those 1 Mountain stages, cause the effect of minimizing the more random stage 1 outcome is very welcome imo. |

This was never going to be our most eventful race considering the lineup I decided to field, so a 30th place by Carpenter with other minor points on top of it is something I'll take.
Thank you knockout for the quality reports and obviously massive congratulations to redordead who is off with a great start with his leader. With your focus on talents, every single important victory is crucial in avoiding the bottom 5.

I love to see Beltran winning this race. And while it's far too early to talk about the end of season rankings, this is definitely a huge step into the right direction for Swisslion in the battle against relegation.
Indeed it gives us a lot of hope to somehow survive

I wouldn't go that far, but I agree, a heck of a win

Thanks It's quite right, with my depthless squad I need my #1 rider to be as good as he can be. So winning a PTHC stage race in January, can't get much better than that
@Everyone:
Thank you everyone for the kind words. Looks like we are all in for a mad 1st season with PCM18
Good luck to everyone

Got slightly worried when I saw this turn into a group sprint. But luckily Madrazo surprised with a very nice dash for the line after getting a proper leadout by Formolo. Second is not a bad result, especially considering the circumstances.
Congrats to Beltran and redordead.

I like those time gaps on stages of this type, it would be really weird to see a rider finishing in the end of the peloton getting a great GC place thankfully to just one single time bonus from an intermediate sprint. This looks quite fair tbh, although I have to say I am quite a bit lucky with Hirt getting a great result on the flat stage that helped him to get a really nice place overall. Overall I am not that happy with the race though. The AI is a major disappointment so far.
