Talacka attaboy (probably only time Ill be able to say that.)
Kruopis is once again an embarassment, finished 60odd places below Dzervus.
Looks like final stage is going to be a heartwrencher, I am rooting for anyone but Ewan (sorry lol)

That was an unlucky final sprint there. Managing 7th still is pretty good considering and retaining points + GC sets up a huge fight for the next stage!
Thanks for the report.

While having on paper a strong 4 rider sprint train with 78so as minimum of those, no one in the top 100 is annoying.
But as it is a C1 race for a CT team, with all big names here, I can live with it. Not much difference if 15th or 100th. |

Looks like Krieger has renounced sprinting. Te Brake (just about) improves in the sprint on Stage 2 but loses GC positions. This triple clash is going well

Goss doing well enough to secure the GC lead, which is everything that matters with Ewan up to 2nd, Australia once again proves it's a great force for.. PCT level (seriously.. Dennis, Bobridge, Howard.. go and watch those folks and learn)

That breakaway trio should be heavily punished for their unacceptable and dangerous behavior. Drapac was in a really nice position until these three idiots decided to help Kraftwerk. Congrats though D2B, Cavendish was the strongest of the front sprinters.

Really nice 3rd place for Vantomme on stage 1, proving he still has his sprinting legs! Unfortunately some dodgy riding took him out of the second stage and could really kill his GC ambitions.
Not sure how I feel about LNH here, he should be doing more - helping Vantomme at least, but he's just fighting for top 20s, weirdly so is Franczak and even Rekita! So at least we're making a big impact on the team's classification.
Thanks for the reports SN, really looking forward to the conclusion! And congrats D2B on the win, super strong team performance!

Nice work Ewan, doing a very solid job there without any support. The neo-pros and climbers are doing an excellent job in ensuring a sprint finish, which is better than saving themselves for a sprint for 8th place!

Great to have Kulppi (and Lindau) in the break, but Manninen/Liepins really needs to soon up their game if they are to keep their status next season!

Poor positioning from Guarnieri, but he did well to take 6th in the end.
Hopefully we get a big result on the last stage, so he can advance a few places in the GC. Though a bit worried those hills in the final third of the race could shake things up a bit and tire Guarnieri before the sprint.

To be fair I'm depply satisfied with the new Team Classification system which mimics the Vuelta combination standings - here it's more important no t only to be at front, but have your Top 3 riders as close as possible to each other. Overstretching will doom your team - for example Team A has its top rider in Top 10, but the next in the standings is 40+ places behind. While Team B, who has riders within 20-25th place will benefit more as its riders are more packed than the Team A riders.
I'd like to see this system implemented in other races and on different terrains.

There's nothing new about it ivan, just perhaps the way I am presenting it. This is exactly how the teams classification is calculated in MG and real life; when ordering the teams who are tied on time.
It's only really flat stage races where it becomes so notable, as there are no actual time gaps created. (Usually)

well..its not a 0 pointer, ayy.
There must be some sortof AI weirdness, because Dzervus seems to be the main sprinter even though Kruopis is better.
congrats to the winners, Gisborne come sooner please

Sweet, i'll happily take 2nd + 8th GC! The two Aussies making dual leadershup work very nicely. Add to that Calebs U25 and 2nd in Points. Couple of decent stage scores. A rather nice 3-day race here for Podium Ambition

Gossy, what a beauty
Also nice to see former Bennelong/Jayco rider Durbridge in the break and adding some points for his team, as well as future Bennelong rider Ewan finishing on the podium behind former Jayco rider Goss. Guess it's never a good sign though, when former riders give you more joy than current riders Great victory for Goss, who performed consistently and went for that crucial stage-win, too.
Thanks for excellent coverage, SN. Enjoyed some "features" in both the preview and the actual reports!

Pretty happy with Stauff's last stage result and subsequent 7th in GC. Probably all we could hope for with the strength of opposition here, Durbridge also being in the break gives us a few more points than we otherwise wouldn't have had so we'll take everything we can get!

Funny to see Drapac score his best result in the most hilly stage. 13th place in the GC is a decent-ish result although I wonder how far he could've gone up the order if he had better positioning in the first two stages. Shame to see nobody in the breakaway hunting the KoM.
Thanks SportingNonsense for the reports, and congrats to Goss and Indosat on the overall win!
