Valls a little disappointing in 12th but to be kinda expected given that there were 10 or more better climbers. At least he got some points out of this. Cornu stage win and 2nd in Points Classification is at least one good thing gained here.

Yet again the PT teams are just here to be the laughing stock. We should seriously consider the template for next season. I know we aren't supposed to go down to steal valuable points, but I guess we aren't going down to finish last either.

Surprised to see Amador and Machado so unlucky, the former can't even snatch a 2nd overall and the latter only just a top 5. Hoping for them they can turn it around later, otherwise it will be another long season for both, especially if their teams aim to promote.
No comment about my team, I'm not unhappy after stage 1 and stage 2 and expected nothing before stage 3 Thanks for the awesome reports roturn.

Disappointing last stage. After being in pole position it's a shame Brajko loses so much time. Not many minor points either, seems like 76Mo is barely enough to guarantee top 50

Seeing how the likes of Summerhill and Vanbilsen are "stealing" points in PT, and how Machado, Amador or Uran could do the same if they wanted to, the limits for PT teams in .HC-races could surely be looked at a bit. Also, you need great allrounders if you want to score anything decent it seems, and at the same be a bit lucky.
Take Wisniowski, on my team. 75,55 OVL, 77 Cobbles and good overall stats with 78 flat as the most flashy one.
Then take Alexey Tsatevich. 75,79 OVL. 77 Hill, 75 Cobbles and good overall stats. Only Tsatevich is eligible because of both hill and cobbles being one under the limit, while Wisniowski is one over on the cobbles. Both relatively even riders who could do decent races in HC.
And with Summerhill, Amador and Fiedler, you are all going to be a long, long way from the win. But they could all again go up to the PT and be one of the top, top favourites.
I know everything is well thought through, but even with a 76 rider you would be happy if you're getting inside the top 10. And that's even with the peloton in the HC-cobbles classics being worse than in the C1 races, given the strength from the CT teams. That's kind of silly if you ask me, that CT teams give stronger competition than PT teams.

I get the sentiment of PT teams wanting to be competitive in PCT, because most of the calendar is fixed in PT and in the few races you can choose you arn't really competitive. That said, I don't pay much attention to PT dealings in PCT - but maybe the lack of performance is the reason of it.
Well so, maybe it is time raise stat limits slighty but gradually to adapt but not open the gates completely for flooding. In turn there could also be more stricter limits of PT applications, meaning less possible PT teams in a race band/race? Thus the scoring chances can be kept well for PCT teams whilst also giving PT teams a more prominent role.
I don't know if the stat limits have been raised since the rule introduction but surely the PCT teams are stronger nowadays than they have been, just like CT teams are stronger. And whilst there is no place for 80+ guys in PCT or super-trained and versatile stallions, it could add an extra-layer level of competition, because right now, it is rather one-sided indeed.
However the wildcard system is rather nice, albeit I didn't care for it this season. To compare two, three great PCT riders to a whole potential squadron of PT monsters isn't the right way of comparing tho because the argument pretends there is equal footing between PT and PCT teams, which there isn't.

What I think, is that PT teams racing HC-races should be competitive enough to get at least top 10-15 for the best PT rider combined.
So far this season (just counting the overall):
Down Under Classic - 15th
San Luis - only PCT teams
Eritrea - only PCT teams
Kandy Classic - only PCT teams
Strade Bianche - 28th
Corsica - 59th
So the way I'm seeing it, the PT teams are not really a factor in these races apart from possible breakways.

I guess that's acceptable. Actually a fairly good ride from Marquez. His TT did some damage but he had a nice comeback on the mountain.

Disappointing for us as well. It's good that Machado's damage control still got us a top 5. Also Avelino's victory makes it less frustrating. Obviously a race like this with everything decided in a single day has this sort of perks.
Congrats to Coldeportes. Úran is a worthy winner and a nice bet. Nazaret just had the race of his career right there. A word for Telkom. Such depth, I feel for them... I think the game is being too harsh on a very very solid team. Rujano also with a great season so far.
PT participation should be revised imo too. Either raise the stat limits or decrease the no of races and forget the stat limits.

PT limits is always difficult to make for that amount of HC races.
We raised the limits in comparison to 2015 quite a bit. Some races see still no PT success. Others like E3 Prijs recently for example have quite a lot PT success with most teams scoring well there.
Then there will be other races still coming, where PT teams will have great chances of top5-10 in GC.
But races like Corsica for example, which are super packed even for PCT alone, the chances are obviously tiny when even riders such as 79 PCT climbers are struggling for a top20.
If the limit was raised to make them more competive for those super packed fields like Corsica, the PT teams would likely be too strong for lower packed fields. Example could be Portugal later on as also the cobbled classics. |

Very surprising result indeed, and a clear sign that also this season can be unpredictable in the mountains. Congratulations to Coldeportes, but also to all those who felt they got more than they could expect.
On the other hand a disappointing final stage for Amador and Machado, but as Gustavovskiy says, with everything decided in one stage, factors like daily form are alway going to play a decisive role. |

WoW My team awoke to life and finally did something decent...
No doubt it is a big surprise to see Nazareth have a display of this level, of all I did not expect such a good result.
But I think it has also deserved a little luck after some less successful results
