Roche takes it even when launching early and getting no gap Wonder if he may have liked to gap the climbers though...
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Meh, Ablenado couldnt even keep up in such a big group.
Much bigger blow for Intxausi though, that sucks :/
Its time to enter some breakaways boys and salvage something from this race.

Been there: terrible for Intxausi, hopefully he can still salvage a decent GC come the end.
Bad luck for some, but an eventful stage sees us exactly where we want to be. Early break and in the action late on. The podium dream is alive more than ever, with a +5 on the final mountain, Contador could still do the unthinkable! Plenty are still in the race, Flores could even get multiple riders in the top 30: rare that!
Great read, Matt! |

Just as I thought maybe things were starting to turn around, this happens. Impeccable timing! First goal of the season wasted.
Congrats Arrinera, good win for Roche. Thanks Matt.

I'm really sorry Eden overall btw, would have liked to take a screen of Intxausti's crash/at the finish line, but I just so happened to realise he wasn't the race leader one stage later and went back to check... Replays in pcm 15 don't even work for me so there you go.
Sadly these crashes will happen to everyone throughout the season, and I just hate how stupid they are most of the time, hence I was about either heavily lowering their frequency - as 100% of PCM 15 is about 130%-150% of 14 and before - or just scrapping them altogether now we have the option. I really hope you can turn it around later in the year.

Thanks Matt, but you don't have to apologise! All you're doing is reporting, shit happens. It's PCM afterall Cassidy will have to save us!
Yeah, I've definitely noticed a significant increase in falls this season. PN and TA have been ridiculous.

Absolute scenes. Both riders looking alright for a Top 10 though, so we need that to continue.

Very happy with the 2-3 there, and Bibby taking the lead of the points classification is a nice bonus. A podium may be in reach now, seeing the lack of selection on the stages so far.
Surprised to see Pinot lose two minutes however. I guess he was caught in Intxausti's crash? |

As predicted Nieve will be the lead man of the team, but didn't expected Berdos to be on the same pace which is really surprising. However I am disapointed by the others - there is an huge gap that prevent us from moving ahead in the team standings. The team needs to pick up and catch Elta and Indosat or I may reconsider their future with the team. I know it's early in the season, but every performance matters

Cohen could probably have done better today, but the sprint was very overcrowded
Now on to the TT and time to lose some GC positions

Bibby is showing outstanding consistency - 3rd, 8th, 2nd, 4th so far. Two stages left, and if he can finish in the top 8 on both of them also then that should do enough for the points jersey and put him in a good position on GC. Now to hope he can ride a good TT, and that Yates manages not to lose too much time - Pinot is going for KoM I guess. |

Yeah fuck this situation. Our sprinter even drops back instead of trying to get a result on the stage, that DS is so fired.

Second major opportunity for a stage win burned here, dissapointing.
On the pluss site, that was by far our best train throughout the season, which is actaully a bit terrifying.
Last chance for glory on the TT - Its time to fullfill your destiny Mr. Salas.

Best performance by Aregger in a Vontobel dress so far and a very welcome podium after a little draught, too.
Now anticipating Schär at top10 and Cataldo within top20th in TT and we're well on track for the finale.
Pity to see what's happening to Intxausti, he and the whole team were looking so strong the opening stages... and I had betted him as a winner.

The speech that I gave looks like had an positive. Petrache was in the breakaway until the final km, got some KOM points and Top 20 finish gives him bonus points in the "Impress the DS" race. Berdos had another solid run which cements him as the second man in the team at the race. Nieve had quiet race, but he is still the lead man. As for Kamberaj - this was a revival for him after the poor form. However he is at loan and it will be hard for us to keep him
Abouth the others - Rojas, Zaraliev and Ebejer finished in the peloton, which is OK. But Chavanel - looks like he doesn't have the legs anymore. I'm not sure that he will remain in the the team next year. But I still have hopes that he'll perform better at later point.
The next stage is TT and I don't have anything to say - this is gonna be a Russian Roulette for us. We could either go up or go down

What exactly do you expect from a rider with stats much worse than most lv. 1 talents?

Great sprint by my most succesful rider considering all season, and to see him positioning nicely without train is great! That was a weakness in recent years, and even in the CT.
Now, all eyes on Nepomnyachsniy and the GC, the TT will decide whether or not we can take this race

We can't take this race I'm afraid, though if we can keep Nepo in 3rd we'd have yet another really, really great race. If the GC stays like it is now we may even outscore last season's performances up until August by the end of February which would be insane.
