Decent start. Cunego in a good position together with the other GC men, and Polivoda at least trying to sprint

Hoffman already with a better stage result than Ricco had in Tachira. What a beast!

The bad position when launching the sprint affect Bruno Santos, nevertheless made a great recovery to finish in 5th position...
Not a bad start for the team...
Congrats for the winner and thanks for the report

Well it's always a joy to see sprint trains working out perfectly - or I assume so, it never occurred to me
Gratz Shonak!
I'll just shut up about Belletti who decided it would be good enough to finish behind some GC riders. Arrrgh.

Thanks for a great stage Roturn
Congrats to Strava for the stage win by Modolo
And even more important
POSTLBERGER! Way to go dude! Didn't think he would do anything this season, and here he goes taking the KoM-jersey and scoring a few extra points for the team in our first break of the season. Well done!
Not a lot of points in the long run, but it strenghtens the feeling that we are lucky this season

10th is really really bad for Lavoine with a field like this, hope he does better next stage

Had hoped Manninen would feel like attempting a sprint, but apparently that was too much to ask..

Matthews again up among the best and 6th is a good result in such a sprint. Still hoping for a podium at a later stage though

Huge race for the team, clearly. Impey here with the hope of finally getting a stage win out of this race at least. On paper a great chance. In reality? Naaaah.
Tough competition for Berhane but hope he can shine on home turf.
Too bad there was no picture of the national champion winning a climb. Could be the best I get out of the race at this rate

Could have sworn I brought a decent sprint train here so that exactly what did end up happening wouldn't happen.

Some idiot put a KoM on each of those small speed bumps... Making Postlberger loose his jersey. Then (and you chouldn't celebrate a fall) he gets lucky and get another one Not too shabby
First crash for my team with Egger going down, I'm just happy it wasn't someone else

Well on to the big mountain stage, but some surprising sprint results for me really.
I note Modolo and Aberesteri have decent RES stats, does that have a factor I wonder or is it relatively high ACC?

Good to see Sarabia on the move trying for KOM.
Now it will be interesting to see how (poorly) Anacona will match up against the big climbers. On a climb as long as this one his low acc should be less of a disadvantage at least..

9th is pretty dismal for Petit in all honesty. Looks like he started that sprint back over the Ethiopian border though, so that may explain it.
Pinot avoiding crashes/mechanicals/splits/being attacked by the dove from above so far is good. Let's hope he performs better on Stage 3 than he did in Tachira. |

I'm not complaining tbh
Breaks for us happened really really rarely last season, glad to see Boaro sneaking into a decent one and managing to get into the lead of the KoM standings. So close to a stage win as well, dammit!
Great report though roturn, thanks for that, and congrats to dev.

And the team listens No train today, and tada! What a tactical win here from Aberasturi! Exactly what I was hoping he would do.
Already managing what Guillen couldnt do last season, really positve signs this! Great to not come empty handet out of Eritrea no matter the outcome on the few next stages

Gratz dev. Modolo is so irritating. Leader jersey, yet completely messes up his positioning..
