Let's dance the sirtaki ! I really hope that Ilias won't drop too far in the rankings on the hilly stages
And this was a great report for the first Elta win

Impressive start by the local riders and CT teams.
In years gone by Bibby would have been contesting that peloton sprint on Stage 2. Not this year, but hopefully he is right in the mix from now on in.

Abal seems to have a good form but I'm not too confident in the hilly stage.
Hope to limit the looses and strike back on the MTT.

Flat stages are boring when you don't have a sprinter present and are not in the break.
Hopefully Zardini can put in a strong performance on the 3 crucial stages and get us a strong GC, as we really need a strong performance at some point this season.
Chavanne is still up in the top 10 on GC which is good to see but I doubt he will be able to hold on any longer. Hopefully the team don't ride to protect him and drop back when he does but actually goes for their own chances and get a good result from the stage/ get in the break.

Decent couple of stages, a top-5 in the TT from Bookwalter and good to see Kwiatek parcipitating in the sprint.
Now hopefully for a selective hilly stage with Kwiatek at the front. |

Holy fucking shit. A 0-pointer in France, possibly a 0-pointer here.
Nerz will receive a 50k offer in round 1 next season. If he declines, he's out.

Bad race planning from myself here but quite happy with Intxausti as he is very weak in the hills but still managed to get in the first spilt the first postive from him this year i'm actually quite confident he will win the stage tomorrow now |

Why cant every race be the Tour of Japan?
Well losing almost 3min in like 8km hurts the GC chances, but we did well, 4th and 5th is something we want to hang on to, Bibby may just overtake us in the TT, but who knows? I'm optimistic

Wow, that was some huge splits, especially since it only was a hilly stage.
Kwiatkowski just continues with his good season, but also a great result for Vontobel so far. Will be very interesting to see the GC after the TT now.

When can this nightmare be finished?
well, Kwiat is still doing decently, what a gem.
Also, our best rider +15 mins behind, nice going! Its not like we have one of the top 3 puncheurs in the race or anything
Hopefully we can get a top 5 in the stage tomorow to get some points atleast.

I'll blame Tamayo, Lloret and Vaugrenard for that split

Just to remember/clarify: there had been so many crashes in this stage, that I definitely might have overlooked a few more than those already mentioned in the report.
From a neutral point of view, this was an interesting race unfolding. Yeah, I see your pain (for those being dropped), but you rarely see such a race happen, so I kinda enjoyed it. Even though it was one hell of a work to get things sorted for a (hopefully) proper report

Well that just happened, why is it always Japan that throws up surprise results, last year it was the break winning and now this stage this year.
I wonder if Wohrer can gain any places on the remaining stages or at least avoid losing any.
Oh almost forgot to say, we were in the break
thanks for the report tsmoha, must have been hard to follow all the action in that one.

Damn, it was all looking so good, but that is such an insane gap to grow in the closing stages. Why oh why did Bibby not follow the move.
Two in the GC Top 5 is still quite possible after another amazing ride by Teklehaimanot, but a bit annoying that the podium is already out of the question.
It was always going to be a gamble for the likes of Intxausti, Abal and Nerz here since their hill stat just isn't good enough.

Interesting stage, insane splits and lack of chasing really hurt some riders. I do think bringing a mountain man here has historically been a mistake and again it is proving so here.
kwaitek in pole position now of course.

I asked for a selective stage, and we sure got one! What a performance once again from Kwiatkowski.
While several other leaders fail, he never seems to have a bad day and is always at the front in the decisive moves. His results are almost single handedly taking us to promotion.
Shame the two riders that stuck with him had to be better climbers ahead of the MTT tomorrow, but with the leaders jersey I'm hoping he can hold them off.
Those who brought climbers obviously took a risk which sadly didn't pay off here. Thanks for the reports tsmoha. |

What on earth happened on this stage? That's one of the weirdest outcome I've ever seen. If you told me that Bauer would be in 20th after todays stage, I would be happy. If you told me he would be 7 minutes behind; not so
Thank you tsmoha for leading us through this action filled report. I really enjoyed everything but the outcome |

Not sure if I wrote it in my preview as well. But I was very sure that Kwiatkowski would not gain a lot of points.
Well I was very wrong. This guy has an awesome season. Outperforming a bit I think. |

Holy shit, what a massacre!
My whole team dropped, but luckily Minnard saved the day by being in the break. He's now in a decent GC position and wears the mountain jersey. He'll be our leader for the rest of the tour, let's see what he can do. The guy is a domestique but always has at least one great result every season.
