Logically speaking, this year's winner will be a relatively old outsider who is looking for a new contract. My guess is Igor Anton.

Yes please, Fränk Schleck, Moreno, Antòn, Navaro, etc. Would be amazing, really don't want a top favourite to win this. Wink

also if Rodriguez could put in a good performance...

I think Mark Cavendish could take the win this year. He hasn't had the best season so far so needs to prove himself by winning the overall standings.

Doesn't matter, he's not gonna win any way. It's 2015, he doesn't stand a chance against the likes of Anton, Navarro, Schleck or VDB, in short 'The Contract Hunters'... Pfft

Not we just await Froome. He hasnt ever won the race despite competing 3 times after his transformation (2,4 and 2). Would be an amazing field he if so chooses to!

Also, Ag2R should bring Bardet. Thats probably also the team I am the intrigued by leading up to the Vuelta - will Bardet be there, how good can Pozzo be (I reckon he will have good chances of a top-3) and in what state decides Bentacur to show up in?

Astana squad for la Vuelta. Strongest team and it won't be close.

Fabio Aru (Ita)
Dario Cataldo (Ita)
Mikel Landa (Spa)
Vincenzo Nibali (Ita)
Diego Rosa (Ita)
Luis Leon Sanchez (Spa)
Paolo Tiralongo (Ita)
Alessandro Vanotti (Ita)
Andrej Zeits (Kaz)

Froomey alone is better than all of those. Pfft

Yeah, thats incredibly strong. But lets wait for Movistar's team with Valverde and Quintana present, that wont be bad. A Froome-led Sky with Nieve and Henao wont be bad either.

Well I guess that rules out Rein Taaramae as being this year's zany 'Out of Contract' overall victor, unless Astana change their minds after today's performance. Pfft

Really hope that Pierre-Roger Latour will ride Vuelta for AG2R, just to see how he copes with a Grand Tour at such a young age. May be featured in some epic climbs as well then whilst he's at it. Smile

Latour? I would wanna see him, but seems like he is peaking and has been racing very hard recently in RdS, Austria and Burgos with some fantastic results for a neo. Unless its obviously just a trick and he is only still at 70%, Andy Schleck-style. Cool Seriously tho, I dont expect him to be at the Vuelta.

Official now.

What else could he race anyway though? Vuelta is the last race he can do achieve something this season and only realistic target left. Sure he's not likely to win it but there are plenty of chances for success along the way.

If I were Froome, I think I would've raced Tour of Britain. He'd be welcomed as a hero by folks who do appreciate him. Sounds more enjoyable than getting wrecked by Ánton, Navarro, Schleck and VDB... Wink
