Reasonable win by the break and a nice shot with the Irish champion celebrating.
Geschke seemed to be the only one with ambition left. Though he hadn't won a stage he's still fighting for the best sprinter award.

Soto Pereira effectively finishing 3rd there, but no bonus seconds so he doesn't rise to the GC podium.
Just one stage now, hoping we can make the break, which will likely take the stage win, with Borges: if not, hopefully everyone stays uprights. |

Hoping for a nothing stage which ends in a sprint so Arredondo can stay safe.

I think it is time for a rankings update cause this month I think we have almost doubled our points tally
A very unexpected 5 on that final stage for Arredondo which confirms his Overall GC win in Indonesia. The team doing well winning in small countries like Algeria and Indonesia, promoting cycling in smaller nations. 1st, 12th and 20th in the GC, 3rd in the Points, 3rd in the KOM, 3rd in the Youth (Orbe!) and 1st in Teams. Absoolutely fantastic racing at the moment from the team with 3 stage wins and two GC wins in our last three stage races.

Thanks for the race coverage SN.
Team showing some flair, but by no means over performing. However, it could have gone much worse. We have to be happy with well over 13PPRD from this one, I suppose.
-- Oh yeah, congrats for the win there Evonik. Nice to see one road stage here where the winner didn't capitalise from passivity or come from an early break.

@LLS, congratulations on the GC victory, it's a shame Zoidl couldn't take it from you in the TT as just like in Algeria we were denied the GC only by a Euskaltel rider.
Still we've come away from this with a decent points haul again and although he was only a domestique here due to his age and inexperience we still got Indonesia's brightest talent to finish 6th in the youth standings and inside the top 40 on GC.
I wonder how long our little run of high scoring races can continue?

Finally, Geschke!
Congrats, LLS! Vesuvio, Oz and Euskaltel probably the hottest teams right now. Must have been a huge month for you.

Finally, we have our stage win from here. I had to wait longer than I hoped and seeing large gap with 2 km to go I didn't expect it anymore but we got it.
A shame that it wasn't enough to secure the point jersey but Azteca is worth it , too.
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Thanks tsmoha, not sure it will continue for much longer but you never know!
Sammyt, thanks it's good to see your team performing well as well, the aggressive climbers of Euskaltel are just a little bit too good for your TT men at the moment

Great race, happy to see our team continuing to perform well. Marentes was on fire here, getting the early win to set up his 3rd in GC and take the Points Jersey. Little disappointed to see my sprinters do nothing essentially though.
Thanks for the reports SN!

It wasn't a particularly sprinter friendly race in the end. Best chance was Stage 4, and even that had a hill with 5km to go - and then a break win anyway. Your sprinters were well placed for Stage 5 but it was an uphill finish so they couldn't feature.

Mmm. Good experience for some of our youngsters, but a bit of a disaster race from Nutresa. Golas at least tried in various sprints, but lacked team support, and was in all honesty up against stronger oppostion; he's had a good middle part of the season, so he at least gets a pass for effort. Stage 2 really did for us. Nobody in even the 1st big peleton made too big a gap for Fonte and Zabalo to make much impact on the TT. TT day actually went OK, but only after a rocket from management after the stage 2 debacle!
Think we gathered a massive 2 points from this 5 day outing, so not best pleased. August and Septemebr are quiet months on our race schedule before a packed October, so I think some training camps in order!
Thanks to SN for great reporting even as I was crying at the results

Minimum goal accomplished! Was a satisfying race where we were able to grab our fair share.
Gratz to the rollin' guys at Euskaltel and thanks for reporting, SN!

The one time O'Brien does something, he misplaced his normal jersey.
Other than that I'm happy with getting a win from the break, this is possibly the race with my worst squad for the whole season, so I'm happy with that.

A mixed bag this race with the Rosskopf crash, Hatsuyama being chased down at the line (not the first time this has happened to our team!!) and some other stuff. I guess U25 and KoM kinda make up for it, but that hilly stage hurts badly.

Happy with two guys in the top 10, without bringing our A-team. Brilliant reports, SN
