Ill just elaborate a bit further on what aquarius said
Aquarius wrote:
Individual sports (athletics, cycling) take a lot of dedication, self-sacrifice, etc. to get results, since it's small margins all the way.
So, if you're not even sure that it's what you want to do, forget it.
Indeed! You have to be committed to it! Especially as a sprinter as there is so much more to it than just doing training on the track twice a week. Its the extra effort you put in, such as heavy weight sessions in the gym and regular core sessions, that really get you somewhere. But as Aquarius said, the gains and results will always come in small steps.
Though if you commit to it, you'll definitely see the long term benefits. I am currently in the shape of my life. Mind you i played a multitude of sports in the past including handball & football and was never as fit and strong in my life.
BUT, I have to admit that I train up to five days a week (!) and I am currently doing 7 sessions a week (mondays and Wednesdays I am currently doing 2 training units, such as weights in the morning and a long run in the evening or weights coupled with a strength and conditioning circuit session).
Its all about commitment and dedication. Thats really the problem with Athletics!

If cycling then track cycling as near my place is a track.
But once I rode home from a long working day I was overtaken by someone who was jogging.
Don't remember when I felt more humiliated before or afterwards than that.
As a self defence: I had just a heavy and bad mountain bike available. Plus some head wind. Does that count?
So favourites would be at the moment: Rugby with some distance to Tennis and with some distance to pretty much everything (mentioned).
But remember - track cycling is much more difficult for technique, if you're used to road.
Die hard fan of Tom Boonen and Quickstep since 2004.

when you play good, the results come automatically.
my (soccer) team turned a 1-3 behind score to 6-3 victory
Spoiler the fact that I wasn't part of the team that turned the score around doesn't matter |

Well, I haven't played youth chess anymore for 3-4 years, apart from regional and national championships. This wasn't age-restricted.

Congrats on the money!
Doing better than my Uni Handball team. Our Captain tore a ligament in his ankle last match and is out for minimum 3 months. Our Goalkeeper tore a ligament in his ankle in training and is out for minimum 3 months. Our substitute goalkeeper sprained his ankle last week and is out for 1-2 months. My left-knee cartilage tear has gotten worse, and am now out until i get it operated on, which is minimum 3 months.
From a squad of 14 players we are down to 10... No Captain and no goalkeepers...

@Selwink - Fortunately we've only got one more game before the christmas break. So struggle through that then hope people recover quickly.
@LLS - If only it was that simple

My high school football team won our state semi-final game 17-10, and we will go to the school's first championship game. Fun fact, we failed to complete a pass in our victory, the other team made it into our side of the fifty twice. One was a kick return for a TD, and the other was on a pick, which turned into a FG three plays later.

I was like 17-0, without passing!!!!! Whuuu. Then i realised it was American football, therefore I have no idea if that's impressive or not.. Have won 24-0 at 'soccer' football, but we passed quite a bit... |

You should take a look at our playbook: 24 plays, 21 of them runs. Ridiculous. I'm not on the football team but I could probably be QB.

Well, it's possible to be successful without a passing game
We went 8-2 last season without barely ever throwing the ball. Our offence is based on the Houston Veer system which is run first - and it was raining like crazy in most of our games anyway
Enjoy the final, welker.

Football (handegg ) must be a really cool sport to play. Too bad down here if you show a football ball to someone, they'll say your soccer ball with rather weird painting seems a bit too flattened to be played with The sport has in fact gained quite some popularity lately over here, but nowhere near a point where it's possible to set a game or something (because no one still knows the rules). Then again, considering that Brazil is the "country of soccer" and hardly any other sport, I'm happy enough that 4-5 NFL games are broadcasted weekly
Speaking of soccer, and perhaps a bit more topic-related, my brother, who plays soccer trying to go professional, has done a compilation video. Perhaps anyone finds it interesting to watch Ah, and if any native speaker finds some of the English translation of the skills in the beginning a bit weird, let me know, we struggled a bit with some rather soccer-linked terms

Though I'm no scout, he looks like an absolute wall back there! He can come and play for my local pro club if he wants
The tackle at 1:18 is great and his all round play looks good enough to me. Strong in the air, amazing tackler, good on the ball (though given he's Brazilian, that's no surprise), fairly quick, agile. I'd be interested if I was a manager
About the translation, I don't know what you mean by serenity, maybe composure? Also overcoming doesn't really make any sense without telling us what he's overcoming so I don't know what you mean by that.

The song choices reminded me a lot of Madden 08. Not sure if you know that, but atleast the first 2 are from the game I think.

That's great to know, thanks for the nice words About serenity, it's meant as calm, safe with the ball, not doing something stupid because you're being chased by an attacker Composure is probably a better word for that? Concerning overcoming, it's meant in a 'strength of will' way, the Portuguese translation of it probably makes more sense, so if there's a better word that'd be also good.

In fact, all 3 songs are from Madden 08. It's the last Madden that was released for PC, so we've been stuck with it for 5~6 years Great game, though, and the track list rocks

First word you want is composure,
2nd word is probably determination or something similar to that (if you were to thesaurus it)
Yeah, Madden 08 was pretty good! I recently traded it in though since I had 2 newer versions and the game store was giving away new copies of games for any other ps3/360 game.
