I have a feeling you might be right up there battling for victory in the continental division, could be an interesting season for you!

Great team, agree with others, you'll be definitely in contention for promotion. Great mix of climbing, puncheurs and capable sprinters to assure you plenty of points in most races you enter.

And I agree on your talent policy. I did the same thing in Div 2 last year, had no talents and old oldies and that was key for me winning the division. Well done and good luck in the season ahead Wink

Thanks for all the feedback but let's hope I don't fuck up the raceplanning! Pfft Actually, I'm not really satisfied with how my transfer season went as I made some rookie mistakes I'm already regretting! Pfft

Pressure piles up as season is about to get underway!

With the start of the season right around the corner different previews on the Continental Tour appeared and they had one thing in common. Pressure on the team to perform as all of them saw the Iberia squad as one of the teams fighting for Promotion together with 2 dutch teams Gazelle and Die Berg, Allianz and Kappa amongst others. Heine went even further giving our team 5 stars, more than any other team saying we are a lock for promotion. We have to stay reasenable though and know that the the races itself are way more important than previews. It would be an understatement saying we want to fight for promotion but I think we need the luck to be on our side if we want to finish the season as the number one team in the CT. Far more important as finishing first in the CT is reaching our goals. And that starts immediately in our first race in Cuba. We have to win the hilly Classico San Cristobal. That's why you can expect a strong line up there including our two best punchers Rodriguez Oliver and Sanchez Gonzalez as well as some very strong domestiques. A small report from the race will appear in the Team HQ after the race. See you then.

And Perkiles Ilias...people fear him right? Pfft.
Anyway should be a great race to start the season for sure! The hilly races will all be very competitive given the talent in the division.

I fear he might finish in front of my 3rd, 4th or 5th guy! Pfft

No really, will be a great start to see how good which punchers exactly are. I hope the Mo-stat also plays an important role as the hills seem to be quite long.

Dietmar Mehr-Wenige will be there too. it is expected that this will be a great race with as good start list

Teamwork finished by a strong Rodriguez in Cuba

11. J. Rodriguez Oliver
12. A. Blazquez
13. F. Bongiorno
14. J. Chaves
15. S. Sanchez Gonzalez
16. J. Toribio
17. J. Valencia

The Clasico San Cristobal was not only our first race this season but also our first goal. A win was expected so7 of our strongest punchers lined up at the start. Rodriguez and Sanchez were up to compete with the best punchers in the CT Weening and Mehr-Wenige while fellow Spanishmen Barrio from the CSC PCT squad was also considered a favourite.

The race started quite slow as the break was controlled by a peloton, led by Iberia, Gazelle and Adira. They got caught climbing the hill on the penultimate lap. Weening didn't hesitate and put in attack which was brought back by our domestiques. Other riders tried but couldn't even create a gap untill Weening, who rode very agressively, went for it again on the penultime hill, already inside the last 10 km. Rodriguez thought about counterattacking but stayed calm and trusted that his teammates could brin g the Gazelle rider back.

The team forming a SKY-esque train over the hills.

Starting the final hill towards the finish, Weening's attack was over. That was the sign for Mehr-Wenige to attack. He quickly created a gap which seemed threatening for Rodriguez. Our team leader stayed calm though knowing that his best chance was to stay behind his teammates and wait for his final kick. And so it happened, the German champion stagnated and could only see how a small Spanish guy sprinted past him under the red kite. Rodriguez victory seemed certain and he could throw his arms up high when crossing the finish line. Mehr-Wenige held on for second while surprising Greek Illias completed the podium. Our domestiques, who did a great job today were clearly a bit tired in the last kilometre as they dropped back but Valencia could still hold on for 9th while Toribio, Blazquez and Sanchez finished in the top 20 aswell. A great day for the team, a goal comptleted and the season is off on a perfect note. Next up is Algerie were our other leader Moreno will start his season.

Still a bit drunk from the victory party. Pfft

Cio, seems you are following F. Bongiorno closely, I can tell he should get a more important role in most other races. Expect him to be at his best in C1 races as I won't field any competive line ups there, mainly using it to gather experience.

Indeed, I really like him.
Seeing him integrated in a very fitting team is great, and I expect great things from him in the future as super-domestique Smile

I'll follow your appearances closely and hope he'll be of good use for you quite often.
