Since this is the first "story" I've ever done, I'm curios to know what you think? Is there anything you think I should change in the way I update it or is it good?
I will from on include the Top 5 or Top 10 from the GTs. I am glad to see that some people are interested in this, especially with my timing being kinda bad, right before PCM2012 and all.

It's a sad day for Belgian cycling as two of the biggest stars in cycling history have both decided to retire this season. Trivia: With the retirement of Philippe Gilbert the cycling wold has lost one of the biggest and most dominating riders off all time. He leaves behind him several records and monumental wins, most prominently 5 wins in the World Championship, several wins in the Ardennes-classics aswell as an overall win in the Vuelta. Unfortunately this season wasn't one to remember for him, allthough he did get a 2nd place in the Vuelta behind Benat Intxausti.
Mark Cavendish sealed his place in the history books by beating Merckx' record for overall stagewins in the Tour de France. He now stands with 41 stage wins. The Dane Matti Breschel also set a new record this season; he won his 5th Paris-Roubaix crowning what has been a fantastic season for danish cycling.

I'll throw Tom Boonens stats into the mix. It annoys me so much sometimes that you can't attach more then one file in each post. So much easier then having to use Imageshack.
It was almost a relieve to see Boonen retire because I'm somewhat a fan and it was downright hard to see him struggle as much as he did in his last years.

If you use Photobucket, it's much easier than either option, as you can easily access all your images and attach them into one post.
2019 looks to have been a real breakout season!
Some new names taking success all over the place, could we see the highest averaged riders?

Wtf is the decrease system in PCM.. Boonen wouldn't be 68 on cobbles even at 45 Gilbert's stats looks a lot more logical.
I would have expected Cavendish to reach 41 victories in the Tour much sooner But did he beat Merckx's overall wins record?
Keep going, you're almost halfway 2030

The stars of tomorrow
Salvatore Thibault (FRA): The young frenchman is regarded as one of the biggest talents among french sprinters. A nation which has struggled lately to produce talented riders, let alone sprinters, will be looking to him to bring them some good results. Perhaps we are looking at a new french World Champion?
Gabrielle Cinzia (ITA): Perhaps the biggest talent in Italian cycling, maybe even in the world? Having allready produced decent results in minor races, Cinzia has shown he can keep up with many of the best climbers and being only 20 years old, he is surely one to watch out for.
Florent Geerts (BEL): Thibault is far from the only future star of sprinting, from Belgium comes a man who has allready achieved very good results. With several wins under his belt and only 23 years behing him, he might prove to be something as unconventional as a Belgian sprinter.
Andreas Peeters (BEL): They are certainly doing something right in Belgium seeing as how the nation is home to two of the most promising riders we've seen. Peeters has proven himself as a major cobbled-rider and he might be the one who'll stop the Danish dominance in Paris-Roubaix. Andreas Peeters will definately be watched closely during this years cobbled season.

Trivia: The season started with some sad news for some. Kreuziger, Pozzovivo and most importantly Alberto Contador all decided this season would be their last. Contador, the 6-time winner of the Tour de France, didn't achieve his goal of equaling Armstrongs all-time record with 7 and after finishing 5th in this years Tour he called it a day.
The Colombian rider, Fabio Duarte continued his dominance in the Giro and won the Italian Grand Tour for the 4th time. Tyler Farrar who was back after a 2 year long period without a contract proved that he is still a force to be reckoned with in the sprints. The American sprinter not only got his 35th stage win, but also won his 4th point jersey, equaling the all time record. However, it is doubtfull wether or not he will be able to take the record for himself seeing as how he didn't quite have the same speed as earlier.
Robert Gesink won his 2nd Tour de France in style whilst Farrar took the Green Jersey. Surprisingly, Mark Cavendish didn't even enter the Tour this year, thereby not increasing his record of 41 stage wins.
It was a year to remember for France since this was the first time in 25 years that a frenchman won a GT. Pierre Rolland won the Vuelta a Espana, just like Laurent Jalabert did before him.
Michael Henning, the reigning WC, showed that there is no such thing as the "curse of the rainbow jersey" by picking up his fair share of wins this season, most notably winning both Amstel Gold Race and Liege - Bastogne - Liege. He could have been the first rider to take the Treble in the Ardennes, but a shocking win by the Dane Niels Mølgaard in Fleche Wallonie were Henning finished 2nd denied him the pleasure.
It remains to be seen if the new World Champion, Edvald Boasson Hagen will be able to copy his success. The Norwegian certainly had a good season were he won Tour du Pologne, Tour of Beijing for a 4th time, the point jersey in the Vuelta and shockingly the Polkadot in the Tour.

Trivia:
The season will be remember for two things; the breakthrough of several new names aswell as a confirmation of what we have been seeing for the last few years; namely a complete domination by columbian cyclists in the Grand Tours. We did get some depressing news aswell, Fabian "Spartacus" Cancellara and "The Manx Missile" Mark Cavendish both retired this season leaving a legacy that will last throught history.
A season that gave some surprising results with "new names" winning several major races. Guillaume López winning Amstel Gold Race and Andriy Turchin coming first in RVV were just some of the headlines this year. The Dane Niels Mølgaard showed that last years win in La Fleche Wallonie was no accident by taking his 2nd win in the Ardennes at Liege - Bastogne Liege.
However, even though there were so many great results this season, one thing can not be overlooked. There was simply no competition in the three GTs as Colombian riders Sergio Henao and Nairo Quintana left nothing but scraps for their opponents. Not since 1964 has one single nation won all three Three-Week Tours. Back then the two frenchmen Anquetil and Poulidor shared the honor. This achievement is even more impressive when you look back at fellow Colombian Fabio Duartes results in the Giro which have been won 5 times in 6 years by a cyclist from the South American nation. This was Henaos first two wins in a GT, Quintana won the Giro in 2017.
