Has anyone got any news on Westras condition?
They said he didn't finish the Champs Elysses stage due to illness - guess that means he wont be defending his win on Post Danmark Rundt next week or how bad is it?
Well, we all know who is going to win it now.
Spoiler Hint: I like him

Thanks, though my Dutch is only slightly better than my Zwahili (which is non-exixtent), so I wont get much info from his Twitter
Just figured it was one hell of an infection for him to give up that close to the finish line. Guess he for sure wont be in top shape if he ends up coming to DK.
@Jesleyh: He is certainly a favourite for regaining the youth jersey...

Read a hilarious article in The Times today stating that Wiggins should shift his priorities to Paris-Roubaix for next season. I hope it's joking, but somehow, knowing the British media, I doubt it.

He came 25th in Roubaix in Garmin as domestique few years ago
He'd be actually a decent rider for Sky, better chance of winning Roubaix than EBH..

Yeah but Roubaix is like pancake flat for the last 100 kms.

Had to be used
It's unlikely he can come close to winning it, however he could be useful for Sky, especially if EBH keeps targeting it...

Wouldn't rule that out completely. He is great at flats and if he gets back to his 2012 TT form, maybe even slightly better, as he would be allowed to gain some weight again, he will be a contender. He finished 25th without really aiming for it and who would have thought of Wiggins as Tour winner...

That 25th in Roubaix was before he lost a lot of weight no?

It was the year he lost the weight, but on Alakagoms picture it looks like the process was pretty much finished at Roubaix. |

I actually said about a year ago I would be entirely unsuprised if Wiggins went for Paris-Roubaix in 2014.
His pretty decent on cobbles without really having focused on it, he loves the flat. If he really is done with Grand Tours (and I imagine he is as he wont play second fiddle to Froome, they have already given Porte the slot at Giro next year and he just isn't going to win a Vuelta because its always too much uphill. Plus I don't doubt the fact he doesn't want to spend as much time away from home anymore.) then what else is he gonna do. He can win a bunch of TTs, but it means doing a bunch of other stages he isn't interested in as there arent very many stand alone TT (I can think of WTT and the end of season thing, Chronos des Nations? Other then that, can't think of much.
Ironically, if Cav was still around I could actually see him being up for being the sprint train engine but Swift is never going to have the speed to be that sort of Sprinter.
His not badly suited to the classics. The ones with really steep climbs are probably beyond him, but the flat and cobbles are good for him. I'm also pretty sure that racing in the classics means he can spend way more time at home as you don't really need to go far away to train for long periods as much as when preping for GTs. |

I dont think that picture is real. The feet dont look right.
Imo if he does train for it, he wont be any worse than EBH or other powerhorse riders like Burghardt or even O'Grady were. And actually O'Grady came from a track background too.

Le Monde confirms Pantani, Ullrich, Julich, Zabel all positive for EPO in 1998. Full list will be announced Wednesday.
O'grady and Voigt are the only riders that were in that Tour that are still racing and the first has already announced his retirement.
Don't think Voigt will be one of the names. Might cause some trouble for a couple of directeurs sportifs
I wonder how many riders' samples they tested so they got only 44 riders. 45?

Who won in 98? Was Ulrich or Pantani, can't remember. Wonder if the UCI will retrieve his title. |

O'Grady retiring to me is a sign that he's guilty.
Voigt, you want to believe he didn't, but.....

Pantani won but the UCI can't retrieve his title.
(I think because) They can only strip you after the b-sample is positive but Pantani has deceased so can't ask a b-sample.
