Some nice attacks from Contador today, he's getting better. Tour is gone but he can do some nice things here, I think!
I don't agree, I think he will have at least one bad day in the Alps, he couldn't gap them at all today and I'll think other like Purito and Quintana will out climb him

For sure.
However Contador isn't going be much better than this. While Quintana will very likely improve another level by next year, so I'd actually rate Quintana above Contador if they came head to head in a GT next year.
As well against Rodriguez, he always has a bad day somewhere, worse TT than Quintana imo, plus his pathetic 1km attacks aren't enough to ever win a GT.
What you need to remember is that unless Quintana actually can improve his TT Contador will still be at 31 better then him in the TT and on flat. Also as we saw in the Vuelta, Contador attacks on everything, so Quintana might be the worlds best climber but its not enough.
But i think we could see a very interesting Giro/Vuelta next year, because a good bet is that Nibali will go for the Tour De France and try to kick froome of the 1st place.
So the question is what will Contador, Rodriguez, Valverde do.
Imo its clear, forget the tour and go for a double of just take one of them. |

Gap who? he wasn´t trying to gap anyone.
It was a test to see if it was possible, you can be 100% sure that Contador didn´t attack with all his power today. |

Let them have their own pointless Tour that no one cares about. Don't bother challenging the dope train.
While for cycling fans, it'd make some sense. From a sponsor point of view - it makes none.
It would make sense for cycling fans that every GC-riders from other teams than Sky ride Giro + Vuelta instead of TdF?
Whaddafack, would ruin the fun in the, BY MILES most interesting race on the calender, you cant seriously mean that. The Tour is the biggest and i bet ya everyone would be disappointed as fuck, even though people in here like to state that the Toyr is oh soo boring...
What would summer be without Tour de France? Nada |

For me, personally, for the last few years the Giro and Vuelta have generally produced considerably more interesting racing than the Tour.
To others, it might be a bit more open to debate, but I certainly think that the Tour cannot gain the distinction of being the most interesting race on the calendar by miles.

It depends alot on the years. Cadel's win was very interesting. Last year there was no interest at all, at least for me. Last year's Vuelta was way better. |

The great Fuglsang went wrong on the same roundabout at the foot of the climb Kadri missed aswell. He was around 100 position after that and didn't make it back to the front when Katusha started pacing. (he was clearly the strongest in that second group leading together with Gesink)
Still looking good for him, he should be able to overtake Ten Dam into 7th
i have turned into a fan of him btw

Evans won the year the tour was the cleanest.
Also Evans didn´t win because he was the best. He won because his competition let him win. |

Weird thing to say... As if the competition said: "hey Cadel, here you go, here's the TDF win!" |

I didn't say anything about GC, just that we could see some nice things from him. It only takes one good day to see nice things |

Yeah, I remember that. Everybody helping Evans when Schleck had attacked en route to the Galibier

Quintana is beating Froome in tomorrow's hilly TT. You heard it first here. |

completely off-topic, but what a great day for Portugal... first Rui wins the Tour stage and then Carlos Sá wins the Badwater ultra marathon. Men of steel

At this point I can only be 100% sure that guy doesn't watch any races except the Tour and the Scheldeprijs. Listing every race more exciting than the Tour is listing almost every other race on the calendar

Exactly
He pulled the damn peloton alone by 40kms and was going so fast nobody lifted a finger to help him.
Evans was by far the strongest, no question. If he'd played it better tactically he'd have had the jersey for the entire 2nd and 3rd week.

He was never going to be a contender for white, or top 10. Not just he's not a good enough climber for that, but also working every stage for Cavendish is taking a toll as well. He's done well enough, imo.

I know he's had a break through year and it's not his first ever GT but I'm still surprised at how well he's gone in his debut TdF, especially considering the support he's had to provide to Cavendish on the flat. A clutch of high stage finishes to boot makes me even more sore that I underestimated him and didn't pick him for the fantasy team! |

Seems like Contador really did complain that they didn't wait for him after the crash. Someone should tell him that he was the one causing it.
Yep he was piss off at Quintana because he didnt wait for him. Now my question is why didnt Contador waited for Quintana on the echelon Stage

Just a bit of food for thought, but Omega Pharma is a bit of a climber graveyard, I wonder what he could do on a different team as a GT rider. Maybe it has to do with the teams training? Im not sure.

Changing the topic a bit: Moreno Moser is at the Tour.
Hands up anyone who saw him so far. Anyone? No one?
