Almost glory for Fothen and Movistar, unfortunately it was not to be.
Garby once again was completely anonymous throughout the race, wish he had tried to attack at east once.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

Valls in the end doing just enough to scrape into that 12th place, those gaps are tiny!
He would have attacked earlier imo if it wasn't for Herrada going out on the attack.
Disappointing that Bouhanni and Bonnet haven't made it to the end and won't be fighting on the Champs for a good result.
Still hoping that we can join a successful breakaway of riders out of GC Top 30 to go for the stage win everyone would like to have.

Nice battling back from Jose, if he could have made an earlier move than he may have been able to attack the podium. Instead it was a defensive ride that at least leapfrogged him past Sicard.
I have to be satisfied with 4th, by far Jose's best Tour performance and he is showing himself to be a really solid GT rider now with a Vuelta win and Giro/Tour top fives. He nabbed that stage win which is a highlight.
Oscar OOT - really disappointed in that the three GT's plan was foolish, he just was nowhere near good enough.
Uber report there and a dramatic one with Plychkan just about nabbing Morton at the end. He is massive massive scorer here of course.

Pluchkin, you god damn hungry monster! There's one day, that could save this disastrous tour and pop, goes my heart. Of course great to see Morton doing this move I was waiting for. But missing a Top-12 and stage-win that close then... Indeed heartbreaking. As much as I loved that screen with him leading with the flamme rouge already approaching, I hated Pluchkin in that moment a few hundred metres later.

Oh gosh, as soon as i saw Pluchkin closing on Morton, i thought that wont make our friends at Oz happy, sorry tsmoha.
On the other hand, i cant be unhappy with 4th stage win and dominant performance throughout the whole race from our moldovan star. I was a bit afraid prior to this stage, that something bad can happen, but Aleksandr was never in trouble and showed how untouchable he was in this weaker GT field.
The win is also the key to the point jersey, which makes it the same jersey double as in Spain a month earlier. Fantastic, i would not imagine that our GT season will bring us thousands of points, are we the new Santander? (i hope not)
Thanks for the brilliant report SN!
Also congrats to Crommy for nailing that 2nd place finish overall, great Tour for his setup too. Alarcon at least with 4th place and a bit unlucky drop for Amador.
I wonder is Smowzy would run out of nicknames for Pluchkin soon.
Edit: I just noticed that we have lost one guy, Vojtech Hacecky. That is sad, but still 7 guys in Paris is cool, in comparsion to Giro for example. Maybe Grosu can nail a top10 in weaker sprinters field now.

A brilliant stage and very well reported. Thanks, SN!
Thought for a while that the fight for the podium spot would be somewhat of an anticlimax seeing Alarcon and Sicard dropped going downhill, but Taaramäe and Amador certainly made it entertaining on the final kilometer.
Pluchkin is bossing this thing, like he has from start to finish, really. How far will it take Metinvest in the rankings? Sixth? Huge congratulations again, Avin!
Another good mountain stage from Martin as well. Would have loved to see him keep up with Henao and Monsalve and hit the right move early there, but when that wasn't to be, I have to be satisfied with the way he climbed the final mountain, keeping up with Alarcon when the brilliant climber made it back from the descent as well.
Happy to still have eight riders in the race, and really curious to see what Kristoff can possibly do on Champs-Élysées. Hopefully he isn't too exhausted after the Queen stage to pick a wheel and give it his best from there. |

Pluchkin is ridiculously op
What a last stage! Enjoyed to read it through, the last kilometers especially were incredible breathtaking to watch, especially thrilling to follow Taaramae vs Amador.
Too bad for Swisscom, this is not going to be their luckiest year as it seems
Thanks for putting this much detail into the reports SN!

Congrats to Avin, pretty clear winner. Assuming all goes well tomorrow, this has been a really nice Tour for us with 7th, a stage win, the white jersey and the team classification. That should net us some good points.
Thanks very much for all the superb reports SN.

Pity that Morton wasn`t able to grab that win. Egoistic top riders again.
Close fight there between Amador and Taaramae.
Not sure how many points UBS will get. But it will surely help them.
Dombrowski, wow. Good race for him.
And now Swift-Van Stayen-Bewley for the Champs Elysees. Looking forward to it. |

Pluchkin, you amazing bastard!
Congrats to Avin, what an absolutely fantastic race we are seeing from his leader. And big thanks for reports SN. Velits sadly is not really impressing me, but top 10 result in a GT is always at least a decent result if you don't have an absolute star. Looking forward to Paris now, a simple win wouldn't be too bad.

Lecuisinier almost throwing everything away in the final climb, like usual. Losing one spot and just 1 seconds away from losing another and 2nd in Youth jersey on the line aswell.... Well well well. Hacecký also dropping 3 places on the final stage.
It has been a shitty race, but we kinda knew that, but it does suck a bit that the breaks I was in didn't stick, while the ones I weren't in went to win the stage...
Vesuvio seems to come out with almost the same amount of points as Becherovka here, which is a bit surprising to me. I guess both teams will get somewhere close to 1000 points. My guess for my own points is somewhere between 200-250.

SotD is a real phenomenon.
I would go out dancing if a self developed and unmaxed rider with Lecuisinier`s stats performing like this in the Tour de France.
Point wise sure, I agree, not much use for you, but you expected no more. For the palmares though, I would love such result. |

Great ride from Henao, but it's not of much use now.
And the last two positions in the GC show exactly how strong my team has been in this Tour.

Cicero after Tour talks will be friendly compared to what shitstorm Brenes will get... 42 freaking stages and that moron didn't attack on any..
At least we were by far the worst team (I hope) so we should take at least one prize home with us.

Nice! KOM jersey for Scarponi. Might well be the highlight of his season. I did hope for more from Cattaneo in the GC, but I suspect he's going to be the flop of the game even when he's maxed next season. And that'll be four years of my life I'm never getting back...
Well done Metinvest. That's one helluva way to say you're here to stay in the PT. Two GT wins. Great work.

Well to me points are more important than finishing 11th over 13th. This season atleast.
Do you think he has been overperforming? Ending behind Valls and slightly before Fothen and Morton is pretty much what is expectes imo. He could have been one higher or two lower. That doesnt really matter much. I would rather see him ride like Morton to be honest. He might have been underperforming in terms of GCs this season, but he has made up for it by winning stages and rising aggressively.
I would pick a stagewin in a GT and ending 15th, rather than doing absolutely nothing and ending 13th any day.
Like I said it was to be expectes, so I am not mad about the result, but in my termonology it has been a shitty race when I havent even come close to winning a stage or getting anything from KOM or something like that.

Monsalve in really good shape now at the end. Great to see him race like this. Of course he's not strong enough to beat the man of this TDF, but he followed him for quite a long time. If his shape had been this good during the entire race he would've challenged for top 5-7, which would've been great.
Sad that we got some riders out of the time limit now at the end, but you have to expect that during a GT. I had hoped that Zabel could get a good result on the last stage :/

Well....what a beautiful win ( and what a screen, well taken SN!). Now this one win cant really recompensate 20 painfull stages watching Cicero fail completely, Brenes and Aziz not make any moves and the whole team being utter shit, but well at least we end on a positive
Well done Avin, I knew I should have gotten Plukchin but well Madrazo is just so much cooler anyway 2 GT's in one year ain't shabby at all. Congrats to all other winners and of coursee SN for awesome reports ever.

Awesome GT.
Thanks SN for the incredible HQ reports, and congrats to Avin for winning the GT. Shame it wasn't that Sagan that won it. jk |

First half of the race was really great for Vesuvio. 3 stage wins for Swift and 1 for Schleck is a great return for the race. A nice 23rd overall for Kirsch too. Unfortunately Schleck's Top 30 chances ended when he waited with Slagter on the final mountain stage, but at least Slagter was able to cling in to 30th.
Thanks to those who've complimented the reports throughout the race!
