In what is a kind opening half of the race for the sprinters, the road to Toulouse is quite a flat one. Bewley lost the first 2 sprints but has won the next 3 - can he be stopped today?

4 is the magic number for a breakaway it seems. Any more, and they are chased. No attempts to chase early on today then, with these 4 getting clear:

Considering the flatness of the day, there's some quite good puncheurs in here! Vanendert was on the front as they rolled through the intermediate.

Not for the first time, while the sprinter's team domestiques, plus Metinvest, combine to get the gap low - still the break clings on with 30 seconds in the final 10km. Vanendert goes on the attack!

Velits, Sergent, Duarte, Kirsch and Schleck are having to put in a shift to make the catch now. Vanendert's move backfired as he was caught and dropped, but the other 3 hold their gap into the last 5km.

The sprinters are a bit of a muddle, and it almost looks like the Becherovka leadout is giving a leadout to Vesuvio's leadout. Vanderbiest, Guerao and Zabel are into good positions, with Lo Cicero, Bouhanni, Napolitano and Guarnieri in the mix. Kristoff and Van Stayen a little further back.

Van Stayen takes another stage podium in 3rd ahead of Kristoff, a superb Vesely and Guarnieri. Zabel and Vanderbiest gave it a good go but should have been more patient behind Swift, they take 7th and 9th with Lo Cicero in between them.

Boivin even managed to take 10th, so 3 in the Top 10 for Becherovka but ultimately they were out led-out by Vesuvio and it cost them. Guerao completely fell away to 14th, while a notably absent Degenkolb could only manage 17th.
