Santambrogio out of nowhere? He has been very good in the hills the last years, but have never really had a captains role in the mountains in BMC. A bit surprising that he has been so good in the mountains this year, but he has been good the entire season.
Let's ask Ballan what he and Santamborgio were doing in Pandova pharmacies. |

Cycling fans are judging riders way too fast, sometimes. Santambrogio is in great shape in his home race. Cadel Evans is just doing this as a preperation, but he is still second in the GC. The level isn't sky-high.. Santambrogio has developed quite a bit since last year, but at the same time he has developed generally the last years. He didn't have any great results either when he "doped" in Lampre either..
Riders who dope are often in very great shape in short periods of the season. Santambrogio has had a good season from San Luis to the Giro and he hasn't overperformed here either. He won a stage, but has most of the time just followed the others. No wild climbing up the steepest hills as Sella.
Santambrogio is probably just a 'late bloomer'.

No surprise. Would have been useless for Cav's leadout anyway. And better for him to actually try to get results of his own rather than just helping Cav.

Boonen should concentrate on next season. Not much left for him this season: no Tour, WC too heavy, NC too heavy. Maybe Eneco, fall classics, I don't know. |

And what a shocker to see that the guy who came out of basically nowhere to climb with the best at Tirreno and Trentino, plus sit 4th in the Giro after two weeks was given a 6. Surely just a mistake, right?
Like I said in the Giro topic, just a couple months more.

A bit, yeah. He's making Sella 2008 look believable.
Atleast he's not worse as 2006 Gutierrez Cataluna
He showed some great things though as a 19/20 yo in his first years but didn't get anything better untill the start of this season
"The Buffalo" Gutierrez had showed good results for many years. Santambrogio is out of nowhere

My you're so so very naive
EDIT: Also, you're going to be gravely disappointed when you find out this is Evans in top form

Easy question why vini fantini hired santa as captain with garzelli and di luca there
And from the start named him captain for GIRO
Response coz Ballan reminded them of the good ol' italian pharmacies

Steegmans has already shown to be a good leadout man, so Cav doesn't need Boonen.

Think that is why he dropped out of the Giro, to be ready for le Tour

I wonder how UCI will react to this. Their ProWorldCircusTour status theoretically forces them to take part in every event, not only whichever one they like.
Even though it's a self suspension, it could still be seen otherwise. |

The list only included riders participating in that Tour, I think.

Yes, it was only Tour riders. Plus, that was back in 2010 when Froome was just the Kenyan rider we saw on Watts, crashing during the Worlds time - trial.

I saw that live years ago and laughed my ass off. I remember posting in forums and being sad that nobody else had seen it. I was sad that this unknown guy would fade instead of forever being remembered for that bonehead moment.
Now in a way I'm glad he's around
