This one is interesting. After a 200k+ day over the highest of high mountains in the cold and wet and snow, the riders decide they don't want to do another day in the wet.
Demare has been outspoken on this, questioning why Stelvio stage was ok or any other wet days, but today is different suddenly.
But it's nice to see the peloton united and actually handling it in a good way. They had a meeting with RCS yesterday evening saying they wanted change and were willing to strike. RCS said "f*ck off", the riders then went on strike!
Good stuff, always happy to see riders standing up for themselves, just why they picked today at fairly last minute has raised some awkward questions to answer.

I'm not sure if the peloton really was united on it. Some teams probably would have preferred to have the 250k ridden, also with a look on tomorrow.
I think if the stage was changed so drastically it shouldn't have been last minute. |
