Looking forward to the GC-battle nevertheless and especially if fellow spanish pct team can hold on to the fantastic GC-spot.

Nice surprise to see my team putting in a lead-out Howard-Howard-Howard train, even through in reality it probably was Boivin-Sagan-Howard. 5th place is a decent result, even through I hoped for a little bit more when I saw the great position Howard had 3 kms to go. Oh and nice to see a win for Roelandts with zabel'd moment for Hoelgaard, happy for Crommy Roelandts actually won him something.

So close
But second place is obviously more than what I could expect from such a stage, but it's always going to be mostly disappointing with such a finish
Congratulations to Crommy! And now the real drama of this Vuelta starts, hopefully Guldhammer feels strong to give himself a slightly better view of the battle for the overall win. To defend his currenr GC spot would be good. |

Im seriously getting fed up with scoring no points. My team is not that shit, and similar riders just seems to take off again and again. Lecuisinier get in the attack you lazy piece of fuck.

Been out of the loop all week, but having caught up I'm a little disappointed. Vuillermoz is riding very well and looks like he could win the KoM, but Pinot and Elissonde are far too passive and Vanderbiest just disappointing really. |

Wow, I had a gut feeling before I clicked on the stage.
De la Cruz welcome to team history. Our first stage win of the season and first GT stage win in program history. And does it in front of the home crowd.
Take a bow young man!

Unlucky Gesink and Amador to not be awarded with a gap there, but that's AI.
Cunego on the other hand continues to prove his strength on the hills here, which probably won't count for much looking ahead with all the mountains coming. No doubts it's from now the battle starts, and thus it's pretty good to have status quo between the biggest favourites before starting to climb again.
Congratulations to Mresuperstar! Very good from De la Cruz to grab that stage considering the riders he was up against, but it's good to see the DH stat count for something.
And again, thanks for the reports, tsmoha! |

Congrats, Mre!
From my point of view, kinda pity that Pozzovivo's best stage hasn't been worth anything special Fourth-best GC favorite, but no stage points. Cunego though doing pretty well in the hilly stages.

Grande Wellens!
Fantastic work from our on loan rider Tim Wellens there, this is massively above what I was expecting from him. Would have loved to have seen him take the stage, but moving up to 14th fantastic. And with a 15 minute deficit overall, perhaps we can hopefully see him do something like this again.
Also nice to see Cunego gain some time, keep going!!!

Tenorio surviving the flat stages and the first mountain stage. Although it might be one of the easier mountain stages, i'm was worried about surprise gaps here than the harder mountain stages.
Was a bit heartbreaking to see Aker miss out on the win on the flat stage due to more or less a game error, but i guess it happens in real life aswell .
Looking forward to the next stages. I guess 40 seconds won't really be enough for Tenorio, but you never know.

Nice try by Sagan, hopefully he joins a few more breakaways to have a realistic chance for a KoM jersey. König crashing again are not the greatest news, would be great if he could finally try to go for a stage too.

Pity Mohs couldn´t grab more points in remaining flat stages, duty of my sprint group is now over, everyone can happily abandon now (like Horton did in first occasion).
Keinath, though - that guy seems to be mistery to me. Losing time when he could manage much better and gaining when no one expect it (first mountain and this hilly rated mountain test). From extreme to another extreme.
Everyone must be excited about remaining five stages. Will Tenorio keep Pluchkin on his back?

Well some time is still nice, but would have liked to see the main group get a time gap to the Gesink group which obviously didn't happen, and would have helped a lot.

Congrats to Mre, that's a nice stage win to have.
Critical for Amador to not lose time to Gesink on that hilly-rated stage, although the little gap they had would have been nice to get credit for.

Very happy for Movistar to get the win here! Great to see them win!
Garby is toughing it through the GT. I perhaps would have liked to see him try at some point, but the team won, so it's all good!

Yeah another glimmer of life from Cunego - showing once again how he has dominated grand tours in the past. He takes time when other riders are too benign too. Interesting to see Gesink and Amador close to taking time off the top two. Both locked in their own private battle for 3rd.
I wonder how many breaks we are going to see make it in this last week Could be good news for Vuillermoz currently in KoM position.

Superb from Pluchkin, congratulations! If he goes on to win here and claim the Tour de France title as well, Metinvest-Dacia will fly high in the rankings as well, definitely far from relegation!
Though, on the other hand we just need Tenorio to do something similar on one of the coming mountain stages to turn the momentum again, but it looks difficult, simply because Pluchkin is such a class rider (and also better in the mountains statwise).
Guldhammer is performing according to his stats, meaning I'm happy, can't expect more. Fingers crossed Stake Laengen (or basically anyone) will go stage hunting in a breakaway on the coming stages, it looks like we're scared of the mountains here compared to the Giro, where I'm not sure if there was any late mountain stage without us trying to get in the breakaway
Thanks for the report, tsmoha! The battle for third place overall is still wide open, as Gesink looks good to at least challenge Amador. Suspect that will be the big |

Hmm... This is the third time we have seen a GT leader do sit in pack until all the GC contenders have gone and then attack, thereby rather catestrophically losing their lead.
Ricco at the Giro. Phinney here at the Vuelta and now Tenorio. You felt there was reason with Ricco, Phinney was pretty rubbish and Tenorio didn't get super screwed but certainly it has left Pluichkin in the drivers seat.
Or should that be the danger seat because there is every chance this could happen to him.
Pluichkin has been there all the time to be fair and should on stats be leading this thing you would argue. He was the strongest at the end too so fair play.
