I thought about adding a timetrialers stage race or something. I think that can turn out quite cool with a prologue a TTT and two longer ITTs, one hilly one flat. What do you think about that?

This please. I feel that Time Trialists have too few events where they can win their teams some points. I mean look at where the best TTist in the db ended up in the prestige rankings this year:

I'd definitely be pro-ttists stage race for that reason.

I think something like Waghlon's BMX race would be fun, but not sure if it's been converted.

u mad bruh? Pfft
Have you ever even played that race? Pfft That would just be plain dumb to add to the calendar!
You are saying this cause you bought Malori Banana

Hehe!

Not the best example there, Matt. I am sure Martin would have finished well inside the top 50 with planning more guiled towards gaining points (I think he was 'accidently' put into two GTs) - I mean Wiggins finished in the top 50 in the prestige rankings. Wink

I do like the idea of a TT stage race, but one TT being cobbles would be a nice inclusion.

Yet, my point is still valid. If Wiggins is the best TTer in the ranking and he finished 46th, that's not good either: that means that there are 45 better cobblers, sprinters, stage racers, punchers and climbers in front of him, but not a single time trialist!

Look at the real UCI ranking only GC contenders and Hilly classic riders in top 10 except for Kristoff en GVA

UCI Rankings only take into account WT races, and yet, this year Dumoulin is in top 15 - would be out of it without Vuelta, but surely wouldn't be out of top 40 - and so he was last year being a tad more TT focused. Martin was better than 70th too. Also what really matters is PCS/CQ rankings, especially if we compare them to Prestige Wink

I'm always up for more TTs so the TT stage race sounds good. Considering TT'ing is the only area where we're up there with the best, it would be nice to actually have a chance of winning something, though we'd still finish 2nd and 3rd.

Only short comment on the calendar:

More TTs would be appreciated for balancing.
Sprinter's classics are quite ok, I'd like a sprinter's stage race though. Maybe with some bumps as well, but this could be an option for the second tier sprinters gaining some stage race points (which are pretty easy for second tier stage racers).
Cobbles are ok, hopefully the AI will improve there.

And finally: Please don't remove the triple header. For me it was real fun as this mixes up all the well-known planning. In most of the races one knows before who will be participating. Shaking that up is good in my opinion, that's why I like the triple header.
And, by the way, as the best stage racers will always go for GTs and have a limited amount of race days, the other mountaineous stage races will always be something for second tier stage racers.

The plan is already to include the Olympics, I think. Not sure how a BMX race would work on PCM, if people think it can work well then it's always a possibility.

Honestly, I like all of the calendar suggestions made. TT riders definitely need a bit more, as do the sprinters. Tour of Qatar could potentially help both of those but I don't really know much about many of the other races mentioned.

Vuelta a Colombia definitely needs to be shortened from 15 days and I like the addition of races mentioned like Portugal (now there are several teams who would have an interest in competing) but I'm not really sure what should be removed from the calendar.

Triple-header is really a matter for WT teams, but I do like that some race clashes happen, particularly when mountainous stage races clash with a GT. That really means that smaller teams/lesser climbers get a good chance at points.

Some great ideas for next years calendar, Bikex. I'd really like the Tour of South Africa.

Adding a sprinters stage race to the World Tour would be good, too, but I wouldn't choose World Ports Classic. A) Benelux already has a ton of races in WT and B) even in CT it offers a great points per raceday ratio due to it's shortness.

There are some countries/regions that could deserve a WT stage race and don't have one yet: USA, Northern Africa, Argentina/Brazil, Russia, South East Asia, the Balkans.

I'll have a look on the bike sponsors later Wink

For the new calendar, I (totally unbiased) would like to see a non-mountaineous stage race in North America, for example a 4-stage Alberta or something. Edit: A one-day race would be cool too. Maybe a hilly classic would be cool, although I couldn't find any. Edit2: Nevermind the previous edit, missed Quebec/Montréal in the calendar

For an African one-day race, there might be some in the FCD. Will give an update as soon as I've downloaded it for PCM14.
Else, I suggest either this or this. I still even have the zcts of the latter, so I could easily convert it to PCM15.

I found some African one-day races. All credits go to the stagemakers, and the creators of FCDS2015. All stage files are for PCM14. Unfortunately, all races are a bit short (maybe a bit too short for WT). My personal preference in terms of profile would probably be Oran.

Actually, I kinda agree with this. I really have no good TTers and suddenly it seems TTing will become a lot more important..
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Looking for my team personally now, there is only one Spanish race in the CT and the only Basque race is WT. So Primavera (!), Andalucia and more would all be nice additions as despite only being one Spanish team last year it is still a powerhouse of cycling.

15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Time to set a deadline for R.1, Bikex.

Bikex
Sure we can next time have the calendar before the transfers but that will make the off season one month longer. Especially for CT teams that shouldn't change much because they still can select their calendar the best fitting to their squad.
@Ollfardh: You are free to send in new FA round 1 bids including a time trialist.

Sorry the first round took so long so far, but I'd like to give everyone (of the new managers) a chance to send something in especially if their laziness isn't the reason for their delay.

On the calendar discussion:
Imo the triple header should stay. I think it was a nice addition to the calendar last season.
Still I think it's a good idea to have a mountainious stage race during a grand tour. First idea would be to move Course de la Paix next to the Tour or Vuelta, but I wasn't sure yet if that race would stay with a mountain stage as the puncher friendly Bongo race is removed.
Other idea would be to add a mountainious African one day race like the Kenya Mountain Classic and put it next to a GT?
I kind of liked the start with the Palm Classic but if the majority is for switching places with Toowoomba we can surely do that.
Now the place for the TT stage race still needs to be decided. From Cyclotron's suggestions I think it should either be Russia or USA. Both have a young time trialist that could still challenge in the race for some years.
And the majority seems to be against the WPC in WT so another sprinters race must be it, any ideas?

matt17br
Usa would be a perfect location for a tt stage race: think they have the biggest amount of good time trialists in the db. Otherwise Germany should be okay as well.

I also would keep the triple header, as a first year WT manager I would love to add that difficulty into my planning.
